Love that so many people are butt hurt over this one. I love QOTSA and laughed harder at this, than probably any other episode. I can't wait til they rip on my favorite band, Faith No More.
Yeah its really hard to be mad as a fan just because they are really trying to get a rise out you. So it just comes across as funny and some of their points do hold water but it really just depends on your taste. Some of Joshs guitar riffs are deliberately trying to be infuriating or childish so to see grown men foam at the mouth is hilarious.
@@zeroblacksun In the early days he described it as "Robot Rock" and it was supposed to sound like a band of robots after the apocalypse who continued to play music even though their circuitry was all fucked up. Its supposed to be repetitive and odd.
Funny y’all said he probably always has a knife on him. My buddy dragged me to one of their shows, and mid way into the 3rd song, beach balls were being bounced around the crowd. One flew up on stage. Homme, pulls a knife out of his pocket, stabs the beach ball and says “we aren’t here to play with our fucking balls”. I cringed so hard.
Queens of the stone age ride or die fan here, also of the mentality that Josh Homme can do no wrong and everything he touches turns too gold. I would say very good critique of the band. First time I saw someone with good arguments against them. Can't say that I was mad especially when you started railing on Kyuss since most of that shit was spot on. I would say however this band is definately great to listen to high.
dude, they obviously love the band. that's why they know so much and know exactly how to rip into Queens AND Kyuss. Queens is my favorite band and this was hilarious.
my favorite band and this had me dying laughing the whole time. you guys must love the band if you know this much. you knew exactly how to rip into them.
@@packwood Jesus christ it's called a typo nerd, I thought someone who spends as much time on computers as you would understand that, English isn't even my first language and even I know what a typo is. How's that for a burn?
You guys shit all over my favorite bands, but I love hearing your thoughts cause there's alot of truth in what you say, and it's interesting to hear other opinions. Will you guys ever do?: Fall Out Boy Or Panic! At The Disco Keep up the great vids guys! (Best QOTSA song: Walkin On The Sidewalks(
LOL. I love QOTSA and consider them one of my favorite bands, but some of these criticisms were pretty spot on (for example, I agree that "I'm Designer" had some unintentionally dumb lyrics in parts).
Chris Goss an old producer and engineer also singer guitar player of Masters of Reality was producing Hommes old band Kyuss and said they sounded like the "queens of the stone age. "
As someone who considered QOTSA my favourite band for many, many years I have to admit there's not one of their album I'd listen back to back, there's a lot of throwaway stuff they recorded, lol. At the same time I think there are not many songs that hit as hard and precise as "millionare" or "song for the dead", among others. Great podcast btw - seems like you know your music. Subscribed.
If you really want to start a war on the internet do an episode on Death Grips their fans are fucking crazy. PS i personally like some of death grips but i just think it would be funny as hell
Lol when people love to hate and have to make hate to market their bullshit. Fact of the matter is like them/him or not he's/they have made some good songs lots or artists want to work with him or he wouldn't be around and he/they made it
Melvins inspires bands like a 5-year-old banging out hits, it’s inspiring to hear someone not give a crap and simply express themselves. Makes people realize that music is all about expressing yourself. Unfortunately, Queens of the Stone Age doesn’t even get that right. 😂❤
Queens don't express themselves? Not really sure what you're trying to say, not like anyone can know what there is for them to express to begin with, if you know what I mean
It's been a couple of years since I listened to this, but in all honestly, y'all actually were the last nail in the coffin for QOTSA's overly-long tenure as my favorite band. Luckily, I found a new favorite that's guaranteed impervious to criticism...Ween.
I’ve always hated queens of the Stone Age. It wasn’t until I stated teaching guitar that I really realized just how awful they are. Worst alt rock band ever.
I've seen QOTSA live a couple of time back in the early days. It was a good show but I've lost interest in their albums. Edit: Nick Oliveri was naked at one of the gigs.
"If you were lookin' to maybe disappear forever..." I'm re-listening since QotSA just released a new album & its one of my favourite bands but you are 100% right, lol, ain't no fucking way I would have seen Kyuss back in the day. That is way too sketch for me while having a vagina.
I literally just listened to this high as fuck. And no, I’ve never heard that statement before. My mind is blown. I’m seriously shook. And. Get this. I love. Queens of the Stone Age AND Kyuss! This right here, is just fucking insane.
>Never heard country music bout gettin drunk inna bar Have you ever been to a bar in a rural or southern location? Hell nowadays we got country singers singin bout getrin high on ketamine amd dmt so you're just incorrect.
Spot on as ever, Messrs. Coe and Mosley. Well done. I like that Tyler always brings up something you'd expect from the likes of Theodore Adorno. And Mark sounds like he's finally shook them aids. Which is a good thing because I need this podcast now. Thanks, aural crack merchants. Fukkkk. Mek moar!!!!
That ending of I Think I Lost My Headache is purposely annoying like that. Josh Dude talked about falling asleep to records back in the day and the ending to that record is like a constant tap on the shoulder.. like shut the fuck up!
