Alright, hands off of each other. The circle jerk is over.
Radiohead's sound went from an unoriginal whine to a mess of incompetent IDM. Then, they got to work making it harder for young artists to get a leg up in the business.
Mark thinks Limp Bizkit is for sure a better band than Radiohead and he's probably right about that. Tyler thinks Radiohead ruined music criticism forever. Also, it's worth listening to the music business dork discussion on In Rainbows' release strategy to get to the part after that about how this band was rejected by James Bond himself.
This episode was recorded several months ago but the guys had time to come back and add more thoughts on Thom and company ripping off The Hollies, now that they want to come after Lana Del Rey for doing the same thing.
Radiohead sucks.

Tbh limp bizkit we're bigger than people give them credit for. Back in the late 90s-00s they were on top of the world. Headlining wodstock 99 and big day out 01. They made rap good again aswell. Fred durst isn't a official "rapper" but he was better than 98 percent of the rappers of the time. Eminem and 50 cent were on top

If there’s one thing this podcast teaches me, it’s that the intent is not to insult/rip on fans of these artists, but to test their awareness of reality. It’s easy to get sucked into an artist and forget the rules of the world around you that literally everything follows. This is a great refreshment & calcification, it shows me the pockets of immaturity I’m still cleaning up. (I’m 19) Thank you guys!!

I tried listening to Spectre because of this video and oh my god, it shouldn’t take a genius to figure out why that song didn’t make it. It genuinely sounds like they made it as a joke fucking around with midi instruments. Musicians have always been building on other people's music. Bach, Gounod, Schubert Ave Maria. Rhythm Changes. Hiphop sampling Juan Atkins ESG Liquid Liquid and Parliament. Its okay and not criminal. But these people writing new songs on top of older songs and trying to hide it. Its gross. Even worse is a band writing on a song on the chord progressions and changes of another song getting sued for it and then even thinking about suing someone else for writing a song on theirs. its disgusting.

Saw Radiohead live. One of the worst shows I have seen. Boring as hell. You really realize how live music needs form and melody. I like some 90s Radiohead. Kid A was like "ok, they are really abstract now and that is sort of interesting I guess" and then they just got so abstract they kinda disappeared into formless meaninglessness. I haven't heard anything since Kid A that didn't make me yawn.

All the people who say radiohead are dated or bad have only listened to creep. They’re considered groundbreaking because of the risk they took on ok computer and kid a. Ok computer is considered the greatest album of all time amongst a majority of critics to this day and the way it was produced isn’t even close to outdated and oh I’m 19 so I’m not a “boomer”

I wanted to like OK Computer so much because of all the people that liked Radiohead, listened to it a lot, then put it on the shelf for years. Then I listened to the Late Night Tales mix from The Flaming Lips and heard Pyramid Song and decided to give RH another chance. Nothing. Then I read a comment saying Pyramid Song is basically River Man by Nick Drake (who I already love) and never listened to them again.

Fun facts: They were trying to sound like Miles Davis on OK (Subhuman Homesick Immigrant.) Miles Davis didn't want to play jazz by the end of the sixties. He envied the massive success of stars (like he was until the Beatles invaded), and put together a rock band to try and prove how much rock bands suck. These guys needed to do an episode on him but that would be 5-hours listening to two guys out of their comfort zone.
