I was in England in 1978, but I didn’t have enough time to go up to Scotland by train. I’ll probably never get a chance to go back to Britain again, but I always manage to attend the Highland Games here in the United States whenever I can. I have Scottish ancestry on both sides of my family, and I love listening to bagpipe music and watching videos of the Queen’s Own Cameron and Seaforth Higlanders on RU-vid. ❤😊
From child to teenage i lived in this town called inverness i miss my teenage time and i miss my Inverness love you Scotland i hope i come back to Inverness in future my eyes are full tears by seeing this high video from inverness i really miss Inverness 😢
Two of my brothers joined the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders in Inverness in 1958, before amalgamation with the Seaforth Highlanders to form the current regiment. Both long gone now. My great uncle Daibhidh joined the Seaforths in 1914 and was killed in action on the Western front in December that year. We’re a Queen’s Own family through and through. Cuidich ‘n Righ. Hooray for the Bully Beef Tartan !
My younger brother served with the Queens Own Highlanders in Kuwait. In the 1991 Gulf war. He was part of the parade that day. For the dedication of the Queens Own Highlanders memorial. A day of mixed feelings for him. As a good mate,Martin Ferguson from Corpach and two other comrades lost their lives. In a friendly fire incident. An American A10 pilot made a dreadful mistake. Identification wise.
My Dad served in the Scots Guards then during the war he was commissioned and Transferred to the 2btn Cameron Highlanders, and served At Monte Casino with them, lost a lot of friends during that battle.
Anyone tell me the two tunes before Pibroch of Domnhall Duhb? I know them well enough, just can’t pluck the names out of the memory banks. No need to remind me about the famous Cabar Feidh on the march away from the saluting base.
@@davidgillies5342 Brought up there, lived in Tomnahurich Street, Bridge Street where the tourist office is now, then Dell Road Hilton. Went to the IRA. Been back a few times and the pubs are still exactly the same bar the prices! Like to stay at the old Station Hotel, now the Royal Highlander.
