It's either this one or "Suite Sister Mary" for my favorite Queensryche song, and gun to my head, I don't think I could choose. I love a lot of their other songs, but these two are just incredible beyond belief! From the opening notes, this one has a dark, subdued feel - and then Geoff eventually blows the doors off during the chorus! Love it!
The album version is longer. Really digging your Queensryche reactions. Their music got me through a lot in my life. That was awesome of you to share your emotions with us. Great job. SUBBED! R.I.P. Grandpa!
@@venicerealm Oh absolutely! Looking forward to seeing what you have for the future. There are tons of great music out there. I would request, but I think I'll just sit back and watch. I'm a music enthusiast! I can get deep into whatever genre you throw out there. From Cannibal Corpse to Aurora and everything in between. See ya around! ✌🏻😊✌🏻
You have a co-star on this day's reaction, COOL! As the clouds parted, your Grandfather answered the question Geoff Tate asked, YES there IS Someone listening! Our loved ones seem to always send signals to us, if you LISTEN close YOU will hear them. Your reactions are very good because you are listening not only through your ears but through your heart. You are able to HEAR an enormous amount of information and as you FEEL the music it naturally MOVES you. I hope you enjoyed your Grandfather's Birthday Meal!
Such an incredibly talented and powerful band. They not only have the musical genius in thier bodies, but the lyrics and messages they deliver truly makes them iconic artists. They are beautiful musicians man.....just incredible.
One of my all time favs by them. Hits me right in the feels. Glad you got to this one! They are masters of layering music, and Tate really shows his range mixed with believable emotions here. I have been waiting for someone to try to cover it, but it might be too hard. I do think if anybody could, it would be Liliac.
yes i also think it is hard to cover but you are right that liliac could do it and also i would be intrigued to see it transform into their own style :)
My youngest brother was learning this on his guitar when he passed away suddenly in an auto accident. We played it at his funeral, to many a persons dismay. After his funeral...just like our elder brothers work event, sudden death...a storm came across. We were just awaiting the hail, as that is what occurred after the 1st brothers funeral. It did not hail but the storm was rough. Sept. We kindof took it that our 1st brother may have softened the "blow" for our 2nd brother. 1st brother was in March...which was very unusual for hail.
It's nice hearing a new generation discover Queensryche. This band deserves more acclaim than they're given. Our radio stations don't even play them on the radio. Maybe your generation can right this wrong
Bless your heart, your grandpa is with you, we don't die my sweet one, so remember them as they were while here physically and around you when you think about them. This song is sow deep and awesome, have loved Queensryche for more than a decade now. all their albums have many songs that are really good unlike alot of bands that only one or two are good....at least to me. Happy HEAVENLY Birthday to your Grandpa.
Queensryche always had a surreal echo to their sound from their early records into their later hit albums like 'Empire'... 'Anybody listening?' was the closing track on the 'Empire' album in 1990... the song actually ends on an acoustic outro on the unedited version. Chris DeGarmo (guitar) was a talented songwriter/ composer for sure... his exit from Queensryche in 1998 was a loss. Most of the songs on 'Empire' did not have a subtle intro ('Jet city woman' ... 'Resistance' ... 'Another rainy night (without you)' ... come to mind) but had great, catchy choruses. I can recommend some obscure Queensryche songs u might enjoy - 'Sign of the times' ... 'Right side of my mind' ... 'Losing myself' ... 'Promised land' ... 'London' ... 'The lady wore black' 🤘🤘🔥🔥
I am sorry about your loss, but it seems like you have many fond memories of your grandfather that you can recall and share with your family. I think it means a lot for someone to be remembered by those whose lives they touched in positive ways. It was special that the rainbow appeared at just the right time. I really enjoyed your reaction and commentary. I think that this song expresses an important message.
thank you this was truly special because it has been almost a few years since i last saw a rainbow! i am just glad i got to see it like this and have the memory even recorded :)
Another nice, thoughtful reaction. Thank you for doing this song. It was the first Queensryche song I ever heard, and just completely captivated me! This song has one of the most powerful choruses I've ever heard! A musical and lyrical masterpiece in my opinion. Lyrically my take is that Geoff ( who wrote the lyrics) was perhaps contemplating leaving "the spotlight". Years ago it had been his dream, which he achieved, but now he sees he had been living a life that was partially a lie. He really does own a sailboat ( the one in the video could have been his) and he often uses words and phrases connected to sailing. An escape. A freedom. Something real and meaningful that you share with those you love. Being on the road a lot seriously impacts personal relationships, especially when you have children. He balances these personal introspections with observations about worldly things like lies in the media, and how they try to manipulate us with pleasing images and words. And how we need to look deeper into what's being said, and come to own own conclusions about world issues, etc. He's always been socially-minded, and writes about those issues quite a lot. Anyway, I LOVE this song so much! In the chorus, you really hear the essence of a Queensryche song. Dynamic, emotional, thrilling, and moving. QR songs make you FEEL. So, yeah, hoist the sail, and we'll be gone, living another dream. It's very sweet you and your family are still celebrating your grandpa's birthday. I have no doubt he will be in attendence, loving you all forever. Love is the most powerful force in the universe! 😘
@@jameszemaitis5162 Well, you're a little bit off as to when Chris left the band, but you probably remembered reading that Chris had been THINKING about leaving the band back then, but didn't until years later. This info comes from the book, "Building an Empire, The Story of Queensryche" by James R. Beach. Chris had been thinking about leaving the band since the "Empire" days (released in Aug 1990), but stayed through "Promised Land" (released in 1994) and "Hear in the Now Frontier" (released in 1997). At the end of the HITNF tour, in Dec 1997, Chris actually did leave the band. His departure was OFFICIALLY announced in Feb 1998. Sad, sad, sad! QR was never the same. 😔 I seriously miss this band!
Hello. I just love your reaction to Geoff Tate and Queensryche... he has one of the BEST voices ever made and their harmony with their voices and the Beautiful music is just an overall TOTALLY Mesmerizing experience to the ears, the heart and the Soul. Geoff is a gift from above. This is one of my FAV Queensryche songs, and the emotions it invokes are all over the place. ENJOY :D
This reading of the lyrics was superb. The highlight was when your loved one spoke to you through the beauty of a rainbow. What better way to communicate with an artist? I always look forward to your reaction coverage of upcoming talent. Thanks Magic it's always a kick visiting your space.
@@venicerealm Forget about it, Madame president. It was a corny joke back when I said it the first time and since you really did forget it ,I'll be sulking back to my desk and figure out how to develop memorable humor 😭
Hi Venice, this is a great song, I'm glad you are now discovering these gems from the past... for me, it means sometimes people use to talk with out knowing what is happening or paying attention to the others.. you can say that's something affecting not just artist or public people ... that's for everyone everywhere... Thanks for your reaction and see you in the next one!!!
H this is my third time watching your reactions, and only now i realise that you know music theory very well. not sure if u are educated in music or just self taught, but i love it...
thank you i really think what happened today was a beautiful message from my grandpa and i am glad i could see it it has been so long seen i saw a e=rainbow but i saw rain lots of times :)
I definitely agree with your Analysis. One Thing Queensryche and Geoff Tate stands for, is his oppend Mind. That's why all these incredible Lyrics sometimes hits so hard. Master Lyrics. That's what it really is. And that's why their Music Style is called v Thinking Man's Metal. And real Progressive Metal. That's exactly is what makes them so special. And Geoff Tate truly is a Unicorn 🦄.
'Ryche is one of my top three favorite bands...at least up through, and including the "Promised Land" LP. Not that there's a lack of any outstanding material in later releases...I'm just a bit biased. I've followed them since their self-titled '83 EP release. You'd probably find some very interesting stuff from the band Myth...Geoff sang the vocals for them before leaving for 'Ryche. Some will sound very familiar without giving too much away...Keep the vids comin. It's a joy to see younger people listening to some of the stuff that I liked in my younger days.
I could go up through hear in the now frontier some great songs in there but the tone of it was so different almost sharp tuning of instruments (not a musician) I can't explain it. But songs like save and spool are fantastic. But I had to listen to that cd many times before I could really feel it. I could not get in tribe or q3k as hard as I tried. American solder had a song or two.
I you like Queensryche, you might also like Avenged Sevenfold who are a newer band with some similarities to QR. Their guitarist, Synyster Gates is one the best in modern metal and their solos often include harmonized guitars. Check songs like Victim, Coming Home, Buried Alive, or Acid Rain :)
