They were a shadowpicture of what was to come . Soros is Dr X . Antifa and BLM are Nicki ! They are picked to displace the leaders countering objectives they are the new underground reality . They like Niki believe they are making a difference, they are only t b used and discarded .Fascists calling everyone else Fascists . Essentially they are working for the same puppet masters that have infiltrated and corrupted our system from within and they are the expendable cannon fodder scapegoats just like Niki .
@@mosthighguitarguy They are relevant in terms of people selling you red scare propaganda and then screwing you over when you trust them with executive power. You seeing antifa and blm in this means the red scare is working.
I am starting to believe this is the best rock album ever recorded. The music is flawless, the lyrics mean something, the story is awesome. just... FUCK this is a work of art.
+Anurag Arya I'm sorry but you can't even think about putting a Green Day album in the same sentence with Queensryche. This band is so complex and the musicianship is up several levels. No knock against Green Day but Queensryche is in a whole other league.
Actually he is. I just saw a live show of his from 2015 or 2016 on RU-vid and he sounded AMAZING! I know he went through a rough patch but he sounded incredible in the show I saw.
One of the greatest concept albums of all time. This is my "The Wall" album for metal. For me, it's unrivaled. When it was released, I don't think I took the cassette tape out of my deck for the better part of a year. Still relevant after all this time.
Played this over & over at our house, w/ the 'justice' album,Motley Crue s 'Dr.Feelgood', Ozzy album 'no rest for the wicked', & Jeff Beck's 'guitar shop'
Agreed. Ill never forget opening the cassette & reading the lyrics. Realizing that not only was each song a story in of itself, but part of a bigger story as the whole album. Wow.
@@_KarlS yes but without Geoff Tate whom pretty much wrote the songs. It’s sad. They played out here a few years ago. It just isn’t the same without Geoff ❤❤
Queensrÿche was out of everyone else’s league. Amidst the lyrics of sex drugs and rock n roll, they told it how it is. And unfortunately how it still is in 2023.
The lyrics to this song were so far ahead of its time that it is mind-boggling -- "I used to trust the media to tell me the truth, tell us the truth" "But now I see the payoffs everywhere I look, who do you trust when everyone's a crook?" -- If that doesn't SCREAM the power and corruption of 21st century America's political system, nothing does.
@@nomesobrenome4092 How could anyone still be trying to blame capitalism? Doesn't this just prove that the media (msm)s lies are still working on so many? You're falling for the communist plan by blaming capitalism. The term you are referring to is corporatism. One more time for those in the back. "Capitalism isn't the enemy. Communism and/or corporatism is."
@@tonyfoster7427 To call out Fox yet not MSNBC or the hilarious most trusted name in news- CNN who are satire at this point is surprising! They are all garbage narrative pushers that are helping demolish this country! All msm and our “elected” politicians are all pretty worthless and help nobody but they do fill their own pockets!
No it doesn't need a film the songs give you all the visuals you need to see it play in your head plus the lyrics are relevant to today's world just look outside and there is your operation mindcrime movie
30 years old and still my favorite album of all time. Man has it aged well. Scary that the lyrics are still true for today. We haven't grown one iota. Hell, we've likely regressed, not progressed.
I come back every few years. I first heard this in '90 at Ft Hood. I was 19 and getting ready to deploy. This is more relevant now than when I first heard in 88!!! This whole album is full of TRUTH irrespective of right or left! The government and media are there enemy of a truly free people! REVOLUTION IS CALLING AND WE HAVE TO STAND TOGETHER!!!
You signed up to the military before you were aware of the corruption. What are your thoughts now in hindsight. Would you still enlist or encourage others to do so now?
Absolute masterpiece!!!!!!!!!!!!! Queensryche were way ahead of their time!!!!!!!!!! This album came out when I was a teen metalhead & it blew my mind!!!
Jonathan Mosebach they hated conservatism cronie capitalism and were anti Reagan. I grew up during the 80's and remember that well. The entire album was an open letter to Bush Sr.
@@chriszaa2309 they really switched sides didn't they? Basically the old neocons deep state took over the left . But let them keep their name and a few wedge issues.. like gay marriage and social issues.. aside from that it's the same corrupt entity
Amazing song, very relevant lyrics. I just discovered them. Can't believe I've been a Rush fan all these years and haven't stumbled onto these guys! Their live performances are super impressive, too. His singing is on point--a true talent!
Over 26 years ago, wow. I used to sing this song while I rode my bike to school. Great classic record! Practically wore this tape out. Lyrics definitely apply to what's happening in the world today. One of the few bands from that era with a message! And it kicked total ass!
Verse 1] For a price, I'd do about anything Except pull the trigger For that I'd need a pretty good cause Then I heard of Dr. X The man with the cure Just watch the television Yeah, you'll see there's something going on Got no love for politicians Or that crazy scene in D.C It's just a power mad town But the time is ripe for changes There's a growing feeling That taking a chance on a new kind of vision is due [Sub-Chorus] I used to trust the media To tell me the truth, tell us the truth But now I've seen the payoffs Everywhere I look Who do you trust when everyone's a crook? [Chorus] Revolution calling Revolution calling Revolution calling you (There's a) Revolution calling Revolution calling Gotta make a change Gotta push, gotta push it on through [Verse 2] I'm tired of all this bullshit They keep selling me on T.V About the communist plan And all the shady preachers Begging for my cash Swiss bank accounts while giving their Secretaries the slam They're all in Penthouse now Or Playboy magazine, million dollar stories to tell I guess Warhol wasn't wrong Fame fifteen minutes long Everyone's using everybody, making the sale [Sub-Chorus] I used to think That only America's way, way was right But now the holy dollar rules everybody's lives Gotta make a million, doesn't matter who dies [Chorus] [Guitar solo] I used to trust the media To tell me the truth, tell us the truth But now I've seen the payoffs everywhere I look Who do you trust when everyone's a crook? [Chorus with male and female accompaniment chanting]
+Frank Castle I was 22 when this came out and it didn't dawn on me until GHBs televised state of union address of his plan of a New world order in 1990 then my hair stood up
Tate was warning us what was taking place in this country way back in the mid-eighties if you listen to the words of this song and put it towards what's happening today he was spot-on thank you Jeff you're an amazing talent
texasted73 this album was dedicated to Bush Sr. After almost a decade of republican control. Very anti conservative band. They were a very political band
what revolution.....I see a DNC in chaos with no one to lead them. The DNC needs needs a revolution. They got their asses handed to em. I was for Bernie until the DNC ruined that. I had to go Trump.....Hillary was not an option.
Hey, 2022? Relevance increase. These progressive masterminds new more then? Than any of us even realize now. I’m “bringing them back!” Talent beyond words~
Keep it up. They are still awesome. Although nowhere near as good without Degarmo and Tate, but Todd La Torre does as good of a job as anyone could trying to cover for the master. I saw this concert both times they toured with it the first time. I saw it 2 more times when they played it in it's entirety for it's 20th anniversary. I've seen this show 4 times all by itself, so I've seen them 10 times now.
And right now it is August 2021 and as time goes by it is even more so incredibly relevant. I really do believe it's time that We The People do something about it.
It's funny how many people fail to realize that this song, in context of the album, is about the main character being brainwashed into a violent political movement.
Yeah, it's a fantastic use of irony throughout the album. One of the reasons the album remains so timeless is because of the cleverness of its concept.
@EccentricSage Marxists are worse. 120 million innocents executed in the last century. Historically, they are even worse than the Nazis. It's just that (ironically) the "woke" crowd has been brainwashed to consider the likes of Che Guevara to be heroic. But at least you and I and agree this is one of the best albums out there. I burned it 6 months straight.
It's a story.... These lyrics are meant to speak to people (particularly if you just listen to one song like this one) so much as tell the story of a broken person who was duped and had his hatred and addiction fanned so he could be used by an evil dude to assassinate politicians and ended up in an insane asylum. They're telling a story of a truly broken person taken in and used because of his views
This Band might be the best ever. I love Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Shadows Fall and P.O.D. Throw in Judas Priest. When it got down to business, Queensryche did everything right. They always showed up They never failed.
I used to think that only America's way, way was right. But now the holy dollar rules everybody's lives gotta make a million doesn't matter who dies. REVOLUTION CALLING.
Kristen Dokken my girl you know your music very well i said it before that speak and breaking the silence are my favorite songs on this album but the whole album is great and this song is proof cause we got a revolution calling
Johnnie Bee yes it does but it was going on way before the 80’s even the Beatles and John was speaking of the crooks back in the 60’s back then they kept a lid on things but it would leak out in some way
Looking at some of these comments, I feel like some of you didn't listen to the whole album. The main character literally gets brainwashed into joining a violent terrorist organization/cult that takes advantage of his desire to make a change, and becomes one of their assassins. He is troubled by what he must do, but only truly realizes he's joined the wrong people when they order him to kill Sister Mary (his only friend and comfort in life) for knowing too much. Sister Mary also reveals she's suicidal because of her troubled past and involvement with the organization. When he tries to escape with her, he's framed for her murder, and ends up institutionalized, no longer able to make any difference at all, and having been discarded by the people he dedicated his life to. Yes, this song is talking about some very real issues that are still relevant today, but the album is also warning the listener to not trust political revolutionary organizations that seek to indoctrinate and brainwash those who want to make a positive difference on the world.
How interesting to come across a comment from 3 years ago [its 6/19/2019] The message in this song IS relevant, but maybe not in the way this poster intended? The "Revolution" in this song isnt the 'hero'. The progressives rally the idiot youth to their cause and control them through toxic ideology. When 'Nicky' finally realizes he has been duped later in the album, he even says: "...We're being used and fed... like Rats..in experiments..." So maybe we should all be super careful before signing up for the 'Revolution'? Oh! 100% Agree with their first statement. This is an amazing song.
@@vallangaard the band was a progressive leftist band, the album was dedicated to bush Sr, it was very anti Reagan, anti conservatism. The singer supports bernie sanders political views, he believes in socialism. "Ex Queensrÿche Singer Geoff Tate: 'I Believe In Socialism' - Blabbermouth.net" www.blabbermouth.net/news/ex-queensryche-singer-geoff-tate-i-believe-in-socialism/
Saw the LiveCrime Tour in '91 from the front row with a bunch of my friends in Buffalo's old Aud. Great show and had a lot of fun. Geoff interacted with the crowd very well at the time.
I heard this back in 1988 when it came out and loved it for the music and the deep political lyrical content. Un-fricking-believable that it's so damn true in 2016. Man, this album is timeless. It's practically immortal.
