It wasn’t a great rookie szn for him but I 100% believe he’s gonna have a better szn. So crazy to see the amount of hate this dude was getting and people already labeling him a bust. People are so ready to talk down on players without giving them opportunities to grow/learn.

He was dog water, he was a first round pick who had injuries to both wrs ahead of him and still sucked and showed no signs of yac which was his main selling point. to put it in perspective he had DOUBLE the snaps as kalif raymond but less recieving yards even though he was the wr1/2 for most of the year and raymond was the fifth target behind josh Reynolds, jahmyr gibbs, laporta, and amon ra.

@@zdawg21 Pretty logical reasoning at the time. He had the highest upside and was sitting behind Keenan and Mike. Given the fact he was not expected to play a whole ton immediately, it would make sense to go after the highest ceiling guy who was not very developed

Crazy that if he catches 3 different passes he probably has over 600 yards and his season is being talked about so differently… the YAC is clearly there, just get better hands and be stronger through contact and QJ can be a serious threat… his speed and elusiveness after the catch is ridiculous…

I also feel it's his tendencies too like he trys to use one hand a lil much or use his body. I see a huge jump from last year if they utilize his strengths on quick short plays and progress comeback routes which seems natural for him too

Honestly, I think some of QJ's issues stem from Herbert throwing rockets at him all the time and he needs time to adjust and learn how to catch balls that come with that much velocity. Dude played for years with noodle armed QB's who don't have near the velocity that Herbert throws with. He seemed to drop less passes when he played with stick as well so that really may be his issue. Hopefully this off-season he's been practicing with a QB who throws with high velocity like Herbert so he will be ready when camp starts. We will see, but im optimistic he can turn it around!

I couldn’t agree more. If he can work at catching with his hands and getting stronger arms to help at the catch point against DBs, he’s perfectly capable of starting in NFL. Harbaugh gonna make it him tougher and hold him accountable

QJ strikes me as the type of guy to take this season personally. I believe he knows he underperformed compared to other rookie WR's and is willing to put in that work in the offseason. He was raised by a mother that was willing to put in the work so that concept isn't foreign to him. I don't get immature vibes from him through his body language or any of his statements. I see, rather, a willingness to take it on the chin and move forward. I think he'll be alright. Some players come into the league burning bright (and often not for long) and some players come on later in their careers.

most wr you can immediately tell if they are number 1 receivers in the pros , Quinton had it in college but even then he was lazy. In the NFL you will get cut for a less talented player

Quentin johnston had 152 yards after the catch last year. Heres a list of 5 ABSOLUTELY WASHED Runningbacks who had more yac than this 1st round wr with all.the opportunities in the world: Joe mixon : 463 yards ( was almost cut yesterday) Samaje perine : 455 ( cut candidate) Ezekiel Elliot : 375 ( still a fa) Aj Dillion : 231 ( still a fa) Clyde edwards helaire : 228 (became a nurse )

You have WRs with Natural hands and you have this guy whose physically gifted 6’3 and gr8 after the catch but atleast half of the throws he gets he won’t catch it even if wide open. Shi might have to turn him into a cordelle Patterson type of player and he can be effective on screens and sweeps or short outs. But he has terrible hands and hand eye coordination. Don’t know how they didn’t see the obvious problems in TCU. They probably thought they can fix it but with his incapabilities it takes a miracle to get better @, Just gotta see how much of a worker the guy is

Be prepared for an uptick this year. I believe his focus should and could be working with keenan on separation technique and with Mike on contested catch ability. He does draw a lot of PI calls though which arent sexy but they did move the chains a lot. And i can see his YAC ability just wanting to bust out, his athleticism truly is up there

Definitely showed improvement over the season., He needs to work on his hand catching and be more patient to let his blocks develop. There was one play he couldve taken it far if he just let keenan set the block, but he decided to out run keenan and right in to the db.

Hes strong and fast. He is good for screens and is hard to take down and fights for yards. Just needs to work on his catching deep balls and he would be an animal.

Last season felt like they didn't know what to do with him. That's why he seemed inconsistent. Yes he dropped a few passes, but they never went right back to him to build his game up. Hopefully he'll breakout this year and show us he is Him.

You can see the physical talent, as he get's more accustomed to the nfl he can be a secondary/tertiary weapon. BUT, he must find a way to fix his catching and tracking (I think in particular he's having a hard time with JH's ball). His hands are super unreliable right now, especially down the field. He had probably about 250+ yardage of drops on explosive plays. That completely changes the story on him. The ball looks like oil and water with his hands. But yeah there's a lot of work with him. Hands fighting, physicality, focus, plucking the ball instead of waiting for the ball to drop, confidence at the catch point. He shows some toughness run after catch, so maybe that can be tapped in to make him tougher all around in the right culture...

Telesco picked a project when they were in win now mode, it was always a bad pick. He'll improve but the base line is so low it would be hard not to. Very bad at seperating and doesn't use his big frame at all, gets bullied on the line of scrimmage and then the hands. He's lucky he got so many soft DPI calls or he'd have at least 7 more drops on the season. Should be buried on the depth chart next season behind Keenan & Palmer & whatever WR they draft and only used on slants and screens. Too many go balls & cardiac routes last season, just not a deep down the field threat.

He is not that bad with short routes, it’s the passes that make him extend that exposes his lack of ability to be a good hand catching WR. He needs to show more in the deep ball area this upcoming season or he could be off the team in year 3 especially if the Chargers draft a WR with pick 5.

Coaches didn't know how to use him. He was not Mike WIlliams go up and get the contested catch. He was the quick hitters. Not the deep over the should type either. They were thinking MW. But not that type of WR. Use him correctly and he will thrive. And the contested catches are exciting and all but I prefer consistency. Not a prayer every 3rd down.

Dude probably had more yards due to penalties drawn from CB than actual catches - I am not sure why DB’s wouldn’t just let him go instead of creating a PI and give Q a chance to mishandle a good Herbert throw!

1st season in the league, horrible coaching, and some of those throws weren't so great. I think he'll be solid next year with this culture we just brought in the building. Also have to see what the wr room looks like next year. I'm expecting Mike to be gone. I think we keep Kennan, definitely need that leadership there. I say Kennan, Johnston, Palmer in that positional order. No QJ isn't better than Josh, but need that height and speed on the outside. If Johnston works on those hands, and get with Kennan on that route running, we gone be cooking next year⚡️⚡️⚡️

You know it's bad when in his "full season highlights" it includes drop passes, miscues, 5 yard passes, and plays where he's thrown back like a ragdoll. This is the best he did for us all season and the best they could collect for an 11 min video. So sad, we passed up Jordan Addison and Zay Flowers for this guy.
