@@maydaygoingdown5602 it’s been 3 months , so you probably took a decision already , but it depends on your settings. My 4090 wich is many times more powerful struggles to run ms 2020 on Vr at a crisp resolution with all settings completely maxed out above 80fps And even if it does, my 5800X3D wich is equivalent to - Ryzen 7700X and veery slightly below an i5 13500K, wich is a great next gen processor , and it gets dpi bottlencekc at about 60 fps some times. It really is a hard game to run if you push it. Thanks for the video, really great tips! I got a cable with an extra usb one can use as power supply and it pretty much maintains the headset power where it was. I was reluctant to get a quest3 due to my pc being somewhat outdated now (i9-9900k, geforce 2080 super), but for the price I thought I'd give it a try. I was a bit skeptical because of the latency, too, but it runs reasonably well at 72hz and the latency is almost unnoticeable :D

Don't know how this is such a mess, but at least now i get to play longer before the jitter starts and make it go away easier.
@theDubleD

@@HamVR I got jitters again after a long play session, and i think it has something to do with the mirrored game running full screen and having the console window up in Windows 11. Whenever i get jitter again, the main game window pops in front of the console window and the on/off trick doesn't always work either. Now i've turned off vsync globally. But i'll test later tonight, have stuff to do, if the jitter doesn't come back i'll be playing the whole time :p Bit sad it's a multitude of solutions, but i feel like i'm getting there or on to something. Edit: it happened again with vsync off, i tried messing with the sound again, but i don't think it's the sound. When i right click on the sound icon, the Start taskbar stays open, doesn't go back to the game mirror and stops jittering. I don't know what to make of all of this, last test i'm gonna do is keep the taskbar open without the console window. Edit 2: I tried it with only the taskbar open and not the console window, and for now it's buttery smooth.

Very nice. Personally I'll stick to 90Hz as I don't like the trade off of squeezing more frames (at 120Hz) into the same or less bit rate, the codec compression becomes more apparent to me. This is where dedicated display port headsets really shine, compared to compressed video solutions.

Something i discovered when testing my cable is it will show a different cable speed if the headset is not on your head and the screen is off on the headset. For instance i am showing a test speed of 2.1 with the headset off and a test speed of 3.1gbps when i cover the light sensors or put on the headset so the q3 screen is on before you test. Just Something to note.

I set FOV - Tangent Multiplier to 0.6; 0.6 in debug tool. Oculus app to 80fps with slider max. That allows me to set games to ultra. AMS 2 maxed, ACC maxed with Res 100% and VR pixel density 140% and gives decent amount of headroom. MSFS is also running really well for me and I now finally get 80 FPS when set to ultra with TLOD at 130 And OLoD to 200 when over countryside, Inturn on ASW forced when over built up areas. This is on a 4090 and 12900kf using Quest 3 and official link cable. I can go 90 but choose not to as gives a little more headroom. How is the clarity on wired pcvr with the quest 3 compared to quest 2? Is it a lot sharper at highest resolution in oculus software on the quest 3 compared to the quest 2?

Yes it's clearer, sharper, bigger sweet spot, bogger fov and less god rays.

Hey how does the battery hold up while it's plugged in? Does it die or can you play pretty much indefinitely? I know the quest 2 never really died while plugged in but I've heard the 3 has a crappy battery.
@HamVR
@HamVR 6 месяцев назад
You will get about 1 to 1.5 hours on wireless with a full battery. Wired to your PC you will get longer (amount will vary) however most USB sockets max out at 15w. The charger that comes with is is 18w. If you get a link cable that let's you let's connect the charger you can maintain charge. You can also extend battery life by turning down the screen brightness and turning off WiFi.

@HamVR

Try changing the FOV tangent multiplier to a value less than 1.0 in Oculus Debug tool. Sometimes the SteamVR FOV setting is ignored.

so will that cable you recommend keep the q3 charged? the kuject isnt strong enough it still drains the q3 but not q2 or would a 18w power brick make the kuject cable usable
@HamVR
@HamVR 5 месяцев назад
It's not the cable, its the power adaptor. The Quest 3 ships with a 18w charger (Quest 2 charger is only 10w). You can get longer game time if you turn off WiFi and turn the screen brightness down to half and run at 72Hz or 80Hz. Otherwise, you will need higher rated adaptor or USB with PD. Some user have said 30w is enough, but there is no official guidance I can find.

not sure i understood right, you said that the cable with the charger was fine on quest 2 but we are talking about quest 3 here... shows as 18w over the quest 2 10w. does that means that if i use the cable with quest 3 it will melt the cable or quest 3 while using it?
@HamVR
@HamVR 4 месяца назад
I’m saying that the Quest 3 consumes more power the Quesr 2, 18w. The USB power output of most PCs is typically 15w, so you will need a USB cable that allows for additional power adaptor input to maintain charge while you use it wired to your PC. You can turn the screen brightness down and disable WiFi to extend game play time also. The USB cable that comes in box is too short to use for wired PCVR mode, but is fine for charging the Quest 3 when not in use.

Ok. I tried to run Phasmaphobia for my daughter. With the Q3, we got everything to recognize eachother but it wouldnt fully load the game. The specs of the pc are much better than bare minimum. Not high end but mid. We dont have a gaming router so I plugged in with an ethernet cable. But I think the cable itself is low end, if I get a better internet cable and direct plug in to the internet is that better? Similar to having the wifi 6 whatever it is? What type of internet cable ? Thank you for this video I'm sure I will come back to it once we get things running a bit better.

@HamVR
@HamVR 6 месяцев назад
If you use a USB cable that also lets you plug in the 18w power adaptor that comes with the Quest 3 e.g. via a T junction (like Kuject or Syntech cables) that should give you several hours of play. Also if you turn the brightness down and disable WiFi it will last even longer. A typical PC USB connection alone does not output enough power unless it also has Power Delivery mode (which is rare).

In my Quest 3 software Graphics Settings, it shows the 72, 80 and 90 hz 2x? So it looks like, 72 hz 72 hz 80 hz 80 hz 90 hz 90 hz. I have watched a lot of Quest 3 setup videos, and none of them have double hz settings like mine. I deleted the software and reinstalled it, but that made no difference.

hi, your 2.3 gb usb3 data speed is abysmal, what's that mother board ? By comparison with my good old i7 and a msi mother board at 2.4 the image quality is really really poor but with my 5800x and an Asus b450 I get 2.8 or someday when it is in a good day 2.9 and it's night and day !
@HamVR
@HamVR 7 месяцев назад
I'm using Asus B650 TUF (the other part of the equation is the cable). The link image quality is affected by the Encode Bitrate in Oculus Debug, so as long you can maintain stable connection at 940Mbps (1.5Gbps should be ample) it doesn't matter how much more speed you get beyond that, it wont increase the image quality more.

Try cable first, it's cheaper and usually gives the best results. If you need wireless or have USB problems, try AirLink or Virtual Desktop, but make sure your router is one recommended for use with Quest 3.
