I can absolutely assure you that the situation in schools is MUCH worse than these MPs realise. It is taken as granted that students are a new gender if they say so and to use pronouns. Also, why on earth are we teaching gender reassignment when it is illegal for kids to be mutilated?
No. The fight must be to have any and all 'teaching' about gender issues removed from the classroom. Fighting to have teachings about detransitioners added to an already unsuitable topic serves only to legitimize the ideologists claims and agendas.

One of the primary reasons why this ideology has been able to spread so quickly and embed itself into law and in the classroom is because these politicians simply don't know what the hell they are talking about. That would be understandable if you are just an average person because there is deliberate obfuscation of the language surrounding this issue, but if you are in a position of authority to dictate what is being taught in schools, it is unforgivable. If kids are being taught that everyone has a gender identity (ie gendered soul) that can exist anywhere on a never ending spectrum, that is an ideology. If kids are being taught that they can be a girl stuck in a boy's body or vice versa, that is an ideology. If kids are being taught that trans is an identity and not a mental disorder (gender dysphoria), that is an ideology. These ideas have no basis in science. Without social engineering, clinically diagnosed gender dysphoria is so rare that many people would never even meet a child who has it. Ten years ago, it would have been bizarre to even tell a child about transgenderism because it was understood as a rare, psychological phenomenon
Thank you very much for standing up for children in his way. We work with the families who have been let down by those schools which have allowed gender ideology to be taught as if it were fact. More and more children are becoming confused about sex as a result of all this fuss. Formerly it was just a tiny percentage of unbalanced young people and there has never been any need to address the issue in the classroom unless the intention was (as I believe it was) to bring even more chaos into society. Let schools educate our young people as they used to, aiming for high academic standards where appropriate and teaching creative, technical and practical subjects so that their pupils will be fitted for the world of work when they leave.

There's a child in my daughter's class that has said boys can be girls. I have asked her headmistress about this. She's going to talk to me and I hope she says they will not be doing that in school(primary) Thanks for stating facts. It's rare. He was obviously afraid of offending someone. Losing his job. The schools minister is surely aware that the protected characteristic doesn’t apply to children (under 18s), in the same way that discrimination for pregnancy/maternity doesn’t apply to a anyone not unemployment. The GRA is inadequate in its definitions but you cannot apply the GRC to under 18s.

It’s amazing how MPs can say so much without saying much at all, he is completely avoiding answering whether they will clarify that this damaging ideology can not be taught in schools. He is a disgrace, stumbling all over his words and trying to slither out of doing anything, she did such a good job of not letting him get away with it so easily.
In other words we are going to do nothing to clarify/get hold of this issue. Disgraceful, and the abusive medicalisation of children goes unchecked because those who believe in this ideology are exploiting those grey areas/ambiguities. They aren't waiting to find out what the guidance is. Good on Miriam for at least highlighting the issue.

What needs to happen is a safe space for teachers to discuss this without fear of backlash or harassment. I’m willing to bet that if this is being taught in some schools that there are teachers who are teaching it unwillingly and that’s a problem in of itself.

Thank god for this wonderful woman. This is a massive problem for young people. Why do they need to be taught anything about the concept of gender? Developing children are already having an identity crisis as they grow into adulthood and they should be left alone. Transitioning should be for adults only. A conservative government should do everything it can to promote a natural childhood with an education consisting of facts.
Thank you for bringing this to Robin's attention Miriam but I still think he doesn't get it! It's also way past the time that Stonewall was stopped from influencing the education of our children. Their job was done once same sex marriage was passed into law so rather than keep representing LGB people they tagged on the T and it's been nothing but trouble since. Does Robin realise that Stonewall now say it's transphobic for gay men to have no trans men in their dating pool and for lesbians to have to consider trans women? I think you should inform him.
Respecting differences is very different to encouraging them. There should be no place in schools for any kind of gender spectrum. As the minister said, schools should teach facts. The facts are clear, there are male and female, men and women, girls and boys - no spectrum, no non-binary. There is a case that gender dysphoria is an issue and should be addressed, but in the right way. That right way is to take it out of schools and into Mental Health services so that those affected can be helped and supported.
This guy honestly. Yeah obviously totally clueless of what is happening. It’s not about mental health, it’s about children having sex reassignment surgeries and taking hormones that cause irreparable harm and sterility.
Which begins with a Mental Health issue. If the Mental Health issues were address correctly and handled in the right way then we would not reach the stage of reassignment surgery or hormone taking. Try and get the order of things right in your mind before you start accusing others of being clueless.
If schools are going to include the concept of "transgender" in the curriculum then they MUST ensure that all lesson plans and teaching materials are in line with the latest guidance from the Department for Education. For example: "You should not reinforce harmful stereotypes, for instance by suggesting that children might be a different gender based on their personality and interests or the clothes they prefer to wear. ... Teachers should not suggest to a child that their non-compliance with gender stereotypes means that either their personality or their body is wrong and in need of changing." I don’t believe it is the schools responsibility to take on gender dysphoria in pupils , that is over each completely by the schools . If the child has such extreme mental disorders why is that anything to do with the school. Aren’t we seeing a complete abrogation of responsibility by parents for their children , and said children should be taken out of the school completely and the medical profession should be involved. If I were a teacher I wouldn’t want the responsibility of affirming or otherwise a confused child , it is total over each of that teacher’s responsibilities, and one can only make really unpleasant assumptions regarding why they are doing this …

Teach kids in an approprite way? Who decides what is appropriate? You have to write down specifically what can and can't be taught or the teachers who have drunk the koolaid will just keep on indoctrinating.
Why should we talk and teach about the radical ideologies of a group that make up a minuscule fraction of our population. Children need to be taught about things that will be of value to their futures not left wing ideologies. These things have no place in schools. Keep up the good fight.
