I just want to thank you for your quality advice on this and your other videos. I’ve watched your PGCE application and interview videos and have had offers from all 4 of my choices to train in secondary English. Not only did I get through the interviews but managed to do so with a certain aplomb - they weren’t the stressful experience that interviews usually are - thanks to your advice in here

@@PetitePrimary thank you so much 😊. It’s for primary. I had an interview today which went well and I was offered a place, but tomorrow is for my first choice so a little bit more nervous for that

Good luck! I get that you're nervous as it's your first choice, but remember you have less pressure as you know you have a space and that your teaching journey will start no matter what happens tomorrow x

Does age matter? I know that technically they cannot discriminate but... you know. I am thinking about switching career (science teacher wannabe). I used to work in IT, I am 40 now,,.

Age doesn't matter at all! Discrimination based on age is legal. Plus, some secondary pupils might respect you more than a teacher who is only ten years older than them fresh out of training! If it's what you want to do, apply 😊

Just had my first day fully teaching at my secondary school PE placement, it went pretty horribly 😭 It was a challenging group (33 kids, 22 of them EAL and 10 SEND), but I thought I’d be able to handle it. Turns out maybe not. Any advice?

Hello Miss Paris I just stumbled upon your page. Love the content so far. I'm applying to PGCE and having my first interview tomorrow. I wanted to find out if you could offer advise on training providers and which would be best to offer placement at? Thank you!

Hi there ☺️ The provider will find your placements for you so don't worry about that! In terms of provider, look for those that are local to you as well as trainings they do that you like and what they offer. When going through the application, it lists all of them and you can always open another tab and research them individually. Have you seen that application video?

Hi I'm looking at possibly doing a PGCE next September after I graduate from my product design course. I was just wondering what to expect from a course open evening - Is there anything you'd suggest me asking or should I just go with an open mind and see what happens. I'm a bit unsure as to whether I should go for the PGCE because I struggle with articulating my words sometimes and I just don't know if I'm too young. Any advice would really help! Thank you :)

Go in with an open mind and you might find you have questions based on what they said. It's more information as to what to expect really and what the course will entail. Don't overthink it too much as your presence there places no weight on your application should you choose to apply x

@@PetitePrimary thank you! It went well I think and got to talk to the tutors who are hopefully emailing me back with a taster day shadowing a teacher in a secondary school. I’m a bit worried that I look to young or rather I am too young (turning 22 in the next couple of months) and I also struggle with nerves when talking but I hope it’s something I can overcome. I’m even worrying about the small stupid things like what I would wear as a teacher as obviously I’m a normal Jean and T-shirt uni student 😅 I am setting myself the deadline of January to decide if this is something I think I am ready for this year or if I should take a gap year before applying. But part of me doesn’t want to take a gap year as I fell I might lose the momentum of a uni mindset. Did you know 100% that you wanted to do the pace and it was the right option for you?

Just trying to put together a document will all the possible questions on 😂 Also got to do a presentation on the relevance of one national curriculum subject (I’ve chose PE as that’s what my degree is in) and also teach a 15 minute lesson using a piece of text! Got so much to do!!
