They listened to our feedback 😀 The majority of people like watching builds they can achieve themselves, stuff more relatable. I personally like to watch a slow stock civic made into something nice, rather than a 1000hp Supra.
@@Entertainmentinc1 I haven’t got that kinda money either but compared to these high end builds that use rare parts and take 100’s of hours it’s nice to see something more realistic for an every day enthusiast
sooooo... nobody here is an actual "car guy" or whatever..? they just made this car loud and slow. wasted money and time and you all are excited about this? it's a honda. for 3k they could have turbocharged that thing and it would have out performed this build in it's final form. waste of time. go see boosted bois if you want cheap honda builds.
My brother bought a slightly modded civic after his 93 civic got in a wreck, the guy dropped a short column shifter and stage 2 clutch in it and man that was fun. Best experience I’ve had in a car.
I had an manual LX '01 em2 from brand new. Sold it with the original motor and trans with 350k miles. Only had to change the TPS sensor at 150k miles, one oem clutch at 175k(just in case because of two week road trip), replaced the catalytic converter with a new OEM one at 250k miles, and reman the alternator to brushless. I had a great 14 year run before I was offered a trade I couldn't say no too. Cheers!
I've said it before, but I love these quick builds because it feels like it could be a great primer for someone looking to build their first project car. If you swap out PT for a teenager who just got their license in the case of the neighbour wanting to give him a car he was going to scrap, this could easily be someone looking for a video like this to get them started.
I reweld these manifolds. A rewelded OE catalytic converter will typically last longer than a cheap aftermarket unit. I've seen aftermarket cats fail after a year of normal driving, budget catalysts.
I see most of the replies are very positive and friendly. This looks like a pretty wholesome channel bringing in decent viewers. Great job, now I am subscribed
I love these budget builds! Can you guys at the end PLEASE do a dyno test and give a hp/torque summary from stock for us? Would be awesome for us to be able to a horsepower per dollar analysis! Rockin’ content!
Gotta love those “budget builds”. You beat my price for the cheapest I’ve paid for a 7th Gen Civic flip and yours is a few yrs newer! I bought a 2002 Civic LX, 5spd MT for $250. Awesome vid! Subbed.
I used to own a 2004 Em2 1.7l Vtec civic looks exactly the same, although I drove it Europe. Was labeled Honda of America. Such good memories, sad I had to get rid of it due to emission restrictions and not that great fuel mileage.
@@marcperras9072 I had a few super cheap systems before I got the Yonaka one and it was a world of difference. Headers, no cats and a cold air and it sounded pretty decent imo
@@MTrefry2 I'm glad it worked out well for you. I wasn't so lucky. I couldn't return it as I had to add 4 inch pipe to make it fit my car. I did return the headers. Yonaka head office is located in my city. They wouldn't accept a return in person. I has to send it back by DHL. The DHL warehouse is on the same road as Yonaka. I had to drive by Yonaka to get to DHL. One other reason why I wasn't impressed.
@@marcperras9072 that sucks. If I remember correctly I just had to bend one of the rear hangers. Was it for your exact model? I know some exhausts run different paths for manual vs auto.
You should do a budget track build, for the kids and younger guys that can’t buy the best of the best. show where to spend money and what you can get away with less than the best. I love the videos and have been watching for years!
When I was 17 I put one of these D17 blocks with a D16z6, or Y8 head, i don't remember which. It was hell but it worked. and, you should put the stock air box back in it with just a better filter.
This whole thing made no sense complete waste of money on auto civic that'll never see more then 100hp dx series literal econo motor in that shit box. For those that dont know and think all hondas come with VTEC. They don't. These dudes are straight geeks lisp and all
Thank you bro I just made a comment up above that's what I was saying they should have put headers to go with the full exhaust eliminate that s***** stock manifold with the catalytic converter!!!!! On top of that the other biggest mod on these is you do the d16ya intake manifold and get rid of that crappy intake manifold that would a true cold air intake header and full exhaust makes a nice difference on these i owned nothing but 90s Golden era Hondas but I had an 05 EX coupe with the single cam VTEC motor it was 5 speed And I'm telling you the ex model with the five-speed manual with the d16y intake manifold cold air intake a header a full exhaust stage 2 clutch and lighter flywheel was damn quick for a little daily driver mine came with the ex spoiler and the super rare hfp lip kit from the factory the hfp front lip rear lip and side skirts from Honda factory performance dealer options And that little single cam was quick that's the best thing you can do to these generations minus doing a kswap
Any chance you can list all the stuff you did bro in the comment section. This is an example for many to follow. I’m in the UK so it will be a great reference article if you can post a mod list. I just picked up an Accord 2001 for £900 and it’s mechanically great! They are undervalued and under appreciated here in the UK! Gorgeous build bro.
How is it! Automatic? I've been thinking of getting one to upgrade a bit from my 99 civic . But I just need a rear main seal and the timing belt to be changed out soon plus water pump.
Might wanna check that compression and head gasket between cyl 2 & 3. And that air filter kit would have fit in the passenger fender just takes the effort.
He has such a happy smile I have to make pauses in watching this video to vent out the optimism I absorb from him... and get back to my usual: "f*** bolt why wouldnt't you f*****g get loose you piece of cr**!" *throws wrench away* *curses whoever designed that* wrenching attitude.
That is a clean car it's honest and well-maintained minus those minor issues fixed with bolt-ons. man I'd give it a repaint the right rims maybe a sound system new interior and I'd take care of it for the next 10 years
I swapped out my stock cat for a high flow cat. The stock ports were too small. You really notice the difference in sound and power. Plus I got a true cold air intake and a piped exhaust minus the Rez. It’s an 03 with 332,000 km on it
I would have wire brushed and rust stopped all of that underbody rust to at least slow down its progression. Its def not a fix but it cost like 20 bucks in rattle cans and some time and would hopefully keep the car from falling apart in the next couple of winters.
