1 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp cooking oil, any kind. Make a paste, apply this paste to glue, let sit for 15-20 minutes, rinse. If there is any residue glue, a scouring pad will take care of that.

Hello YT Mom!!! Great tips! I have a tip to share with y’all ~ Hand Sanitizer works to take off sticky residue. Just rub into like you would goo gone and clean off. It also works on some stains to clean fabrics. I have a friend that has a auto body shop and he uses it to get gunk off cars…I have found it is a hit or miss with fabrics it depends on the stain.

Hey! The BEST and EASIEST way is hot water soak/pull/scrape but the left over glue can be removed with *bar keepers friend* cooktop cleaner and a green scrub daddy or any mildly abrasive side sponge! No wait time, no mess, just sparkling glass! It even removed the expiration date laser etch, I just discovered this method after watching your video and seeing what I had in the cabinet 😅

I like to use razor blade. It normally removes most of label and glue. It works well on clear plastic labels like pickle jars and oui yogurt.

I do just like Sinatra said, soak enough bakinsoda& any cooking oil,making a paste of it apply on the glue keep it on for 2 hours,wipe it off with an old towel or rag, no hard scraping

Thank you so much. I tried your method of vinegar, hot water and dish soap and it worked very well. For the sticky stubborn glue I used white spirits and a sponge and it just walked off, beautiful shine on the bottles too

I use the same technique of boiling water and vinegar soak for a few hours, and then I use those metal brushes you find in the paint department to scrape off the paper label along with the glue. Works really well. I used to use acetone, but got tired of the smell.

I’ve had success using the hot water to soak and then vegetable oil and coffee grounds to scrub the adhesive residue off. Some jars are a lot tougher though.

I put eucalyptus and lemon essential oils in a spray bottle with water. My son had taped up his car window with a bunch of gorilla glue tape because It came off it’s roller. It stayed that way for a few months before the window was fixed. I had previously used the technique on smaller items, but that window was something to be reckoned with as it was covered in dried up gorilla glue adhesive. I should mention that I also used a couple of the dollar tree razor scrapers that come in a four pack. Everything came off pretty easily considering the mess. My neighbor from across the street saw me scraping the window and came over with a big spray bottle of goo gone. I graciously thanked him, and told him I also had a big spray bottle of GG, but that the Eucalyptus and lemon oils worked faster and easier. Hope this helps someone who might need to take a bunch of built up glue off a window or a jar. Try it it works good. I put about 30 drops in a 16 oz bottle.

Brass wire brush spinning from a dremel or drill gets the silk screen / heat transfer labels off without damaging the glass

Great video. I've never thought to try SOS pad. Usually I soak in hot water, then try a variety of chemicals lol. Seems WD40 has lost its reliability these days, just makes a mess. I try lighter fluid, nail polish remover, rubbing alcohol...depending on the glue, one of these usually work for the residue. But I found that nail polish thinner works good on most but it's pricey. I'm watching videos to find other ways, or if mineral spirits, paint thinner, or turpentine is a go-to before I buy anything. I've no heat gun, and thanks for letting me know my hair dryer won't work so I don't bother. I think my next label is getting the SOS treatment! thanks....I love your dog so cute! Subscribed!

I use method glass cleaner and a steel wool scrub pad and had great success :) haven't tried other methods yet

The Pink Stiff cleaning spray is brilliant and doesn’t cloud the plastic! Remove the label, spray residue of glue with The Pink stuff and it’s clean in seconds!

I know rubbing alcohol will take off the expiration date writing but not sure about all paint. Also I use a steel wire brush and dawn dish soap to scrub off labels

The top adhesive remove on the market is "Goof Off". It includes several solvents including Acetone and Xylene. You must use nitrile gloves while working with Goof Off. On the extreme side of things, I've removed carpet from a concrete floor and used Goof Off to remove the thick, hard carpet glue off a concrete floor. Goof Off is undoubtedly the best adhesive remover ever. However, it suffers from one minor drawback: it evaporates rather quickly. To get around this, apply Goof Off to a cotton rag/towel and wrap it around the glass jar/bottle that you're using it on. Place the glass jar in a resealable container to prevent the Goof Off from evaporating. After a few minutes, the adhesive will be able to wipe away from the jar with ease. To remove carpet glu off concrete, apply Goof Off (sold in drums at Home Depot in USA) directly over the carpet glu on the concrete floor and quickly apply plastic painter's cloth over the Goof Off treated area (use a plastic painter's cloth with a high MIL rating - high MIL means the plastic drop cloth is thicker). Use semi-heavy objects to weigh down the painter's cloth. This will prevent the Goof Off from evaporating. After 15 - 20 minutes, the thick, hard, carpet glue can be removed with a large floor scraper. The carpet softened glu will come off the floor as if you were removing peanut butter off the flat floor with a paint scraper. This method is used commercially by professional flooring crews. Hope this helped others out. Sincerely, Jacob P. S. - Always use chemicals over a cheap layer of kitty litter. The kitty litter will absorb harmful chemicals, solvents, fuels, oils and other liquids and allow you to dispose of them in an environmentally safe way. Kitty litter is also the preferred method of cleaning up chemical spills on the floor/concrete. Use an outdoor broom to sweep up the chemical absorbed clumps of kitty litter and dispose of it in the trash. Don't spray chemicals like brake cleaner and WD-40 down your sink drain system.

Coconut oil works better than vegetable oil for sticky residue because it clings to the surface and doesn't run off. Smear the adhesive with coconut oil and let it sit for 24 - 48 hours (up to a week for stubborn stuff). Wipe off with paper towel and then wash with soap and water. Peanut butter needs time to work as well. Just have patience.

Orange Glo works really well at dissolving that glue after the paper label is off.

If the label won't come off cleanly, get what you can off by hand. Then, boil the bottle in a pan of water with a dishwasher tablet, leave it in the water overnight and the next morning scrape it with a wire pad. Dishwasher tablets also work very well for old bottles that have been outside for a long time.

I use nail polish remover to get off the stubborn labels. Then wash them well with warm soapy water.

The bet thing I have EVER going to remove adhesive residue is citrus essential oil. I smear a little on and the acidity of the citrus eats the adhesive off. It literally wipes clean on a minute or less.

I have a couple of wine bottles and yogurt glass jars (certain brand) that I have tried ALL these methods plus Goo Gone, acetone, and alcohol. Nothing seems to get the labels/glue residue off 😵‍💫

For painted labels try murphy’s oil soap . Soak in tub of hot water and murphy’s a long time. Use the Dawn spray cleanser and a green scrubby.

WD40 also works well to get the extra clue off. Still struggling with how to get the printing off of frosted glass such as the Absolut Citron bottles. Thoughts?

Try 100% acetone (nail polish remover) on the ?paint? of the lovely blue bottle. It may take a couple of tries, some soaking with acetone on a paper towel, or some elbow grease. I would like to know if this works in this case. Acetone and sometimes isopropyl alcohol will remove the black batch & date lettering from glass & plastic.

The prints on that gin bottle are probably heat annealed into the glass at the bottle factory. I've seen spaghetti sauce jars made like that with prints. They add it to the glass while it's still almost red hot. Some chain restaurants have their logo made into their drinking glasses that way.

Would this work on years old alcohol bottles as well?

I have a beautiful bottle that was Seagram's Lime twisted gin, although I think all Seagram's bottles have the same basketweave pattern. Anyway, I was wondering if you had ever up-cycled one, or if you would? I'm a copy cat crafter, not a creator, so I"m looking for ideas.

Now I know not to use peanut butter to remove labels AT ALL, that I haven't really thought of since watching this video! Lol I did the hot water inside and out and butter-knife scrape just now. Will try the SOS pad trick soon, and the other suggestions made by other commenters here. Wish I have a heat gun!

Citrus essential oil works wonders for getting glue residu off

Depending on the glue, kerosene or turpentine can also get the residue off the bottle.

Bombay ink printing on the back, I am also wondering how to remove those ink.

I just fill the jar up with really hot water instead of using the heat gun. It works just as well.

Before trying these great tips, soak in cold water (hot water makes glue sticky). If it's a new item, the sticker should slide right off. I typically soak for a couple of hours but I'm sure less time will work.

Alcohol and acetone. Acetone will remove the paint labels. Alcohol removes sticky residue.

I always rub in the oil, then sprinkle regular table salt over it. Let it sit about 15 minutes & rub it in & wash it off. 🤗

I am in South Africa. I use paraffin I think in USA it's called kerosene. After using kerosene wash with dish washing liquid.

You might find nail polish remover does the same thing, or even bicarb (baking soda).

A really effortless way to perfectly remove all traces of the label glue is to use petroleum spirit, as in the liquid petrol lighter fuel available from most newsagent or DIY hardware stores.

Actually I just finished 2 bottles... I used the paste...for 1..other was filled up with boiling water..but it wasn't easy sooo..I put paste on the label with b water..in it nope..soo I sprayed Vinegar on top it formed I used a scrubber one side yellow other side is green..and it just came right off .

Hand sanitizer works on some stickers & labels. Do not use on plastics.
