I was bought up with old fashion values by making everything by hand and our family never owned a single electric kitchen appliance and prepared everything the way you do, by hand. Its a wonderful way to do any food preparation. Your recipes are so simple and look delicious. I will start making them in few days. Thank you so much for not putting background music on, and not doing any promotion or ask people to subscribe. You are there to present a dish and help us to learn and you just do that without any nonsense, and I'm sure we all enjoy it to the full. Just found your Chanel I’m a 65 year old living in Western Australia now from wales came over at 30 I love making cinnamon scrolls and all bread products. Your Chanel is fantastic and so cheap to make things, well done
I’ve just tried this ... and I’m no baker. It worked well.. had to add an extra 15 minutes cooking time. But the flavour is darned good. Well done you. Will try your other recipes. .?? Who needs Nigella when there’s you.. a real good bloke
Hi David, I just used your recipe to bake the fruit loaf here in Western Australia. I added two tablespoons of Old Tawney fortified wine to the fruit. Thank you for sharing your great recipes and knowledge with us.
One of my all time favourite cakes. No fuss and with no heavy flavoured spices needed or overly sweet. Just need a mug of hot tea to wash it down, very satisfying.

Hi Dave. I wrote to you few days ago from Australia. Just wanted to let you know that I made the fruit loaf today. It turned out sooooo delicious 😋. I doubled the ingredients and made two, one for friends and the other for my husband and me. We couldn't wait for the loaf to cool enough to cut it without feeling the heat on our fingers 😁. The crust was so nice and crisp and the inside very moist and really easy to make. Thanks so much 👍. The next on my list is the ginger cake and the lemon drizzle loaf hopefully in few days time. I'm a subscriber so I'm looking forward for your videos even though I noticed that I have a lot to catch up. Please keep up the good work 👌.
That was incredibly quick to make - and I'll bet it smelled amazing as it baked. I'm definitely going to give this a try, especially as I have some sultanas languishing in the cupboard. I made this today and it is superb. The best fruit loaf ever. It is crispy caramelized and super moist. Not over sweet. This is a keeper. Everyone has to try this! I only added just a tint more milk to get it all mixed together. I am not a raisin bread fan but I absolutely love this! Ty!😊

Love this, I am going to make this today. I would like to add lemon or vanilla essence. A small touch of lemon would be lovely. Got me thinking about other combinations of fruit even blueberries. Thanks again, I love the no-nonsense approach you have. Keep the recipes coming. BTW while I live on the other side of the world in Australia I grew up and was influenced by my English grandparents who lived next door. So much of what you cook was what my granddad cooked, as he was the cook in the family. He made the best apple and meat pies. His pastry was to die for, so short and rich. Beautiful people and beautiful memories.

I would recommend this recipe! I used 190 grams of sultanas. Turned out wonderfully and it really does have a caramel taste. Thanks! Tea and cake time.

Thanks friend for this recipe and for your skills and instruction. I'm not a confident baker but I made this and it was superb. I shared half the cake with my neighbour too who thought it was really great as well. It kept in a tin and was still nice when I ate the last bit a few days later. Throughly enjoyed your video always looking for new ideas on saving money on food. We are a large family with older kids still at home & I still pack their lunches for work as its healthy & budget friendly. They have all been bought up frugally so know the importance to saving a dollar plus they are saving to purchase houses.
