But if it were a nice ghost that told you were it had put away stuff, and being a generally nice ghost leaving notes to you saying it brewed some coffee and if it tucked you in at night and took care of you, then I wouldn't mind. Except for the fact that they don't exist.

So long as they knew exactly where to put each dish back in the cupboards, it wouldn't be too hard if you know how to cut cleanly. And he's easily one of the best.
da coder no the camera is moving it's an invisible cut with the camera wobble in two spots to hide it. after he makes the mess and then goes into the living room watch for that little bit of camera wobble and there's a cut in there. that's how it's done
da coder the first one is around 2:33 to 2:35 you see that weird movement the camera mix where it almost seems like a framer to has paused if you watch it very closely that's where the First Cut Is
There’s cuts hidden in the whip pan while the screen is completely motion blurred, the cameraman just had to stay in the same spot and wait until the mess was cleaned then whip the camera back and blend the cuts together with some extra blur just in case.
What if what it actually does is always return your home to the state it was in when it arrived? So your house can't get messier, but it can't get tidier either. I'd be screwed! And things will always teleport when you're trying to use them!

No it wasn't, there was real camera shake at first, then it's stationary (with fake camera shake) they cut, then go back to real camera shake and slow its cleaned
I think the first invisible cut is at 2:35, because when you play it in x0.25 speed, you'll notice the wrinkles morphing (on the yellow jacket just on the left of the zipper on the lower part of the jacket) but it's mad how accurate his posture and his clothing wrinkles are. I think he rested in the exact same posture so avoid the changing of the wrinkles, while somebody else cleaned up... that blew my mind!
i recall he *mentioned once that in these situations somebody would 'hug' him in strategic ways to form a 3d human scaffold/dock... after walking away he'd walk back into position to resume the take. *im 99.9% certain Alan said this at a TedX
sp1d5r couldn't be an uninterrupted backwards shot. He's also speaking with inflection that would be difficult. If it had been one mess he made then sure. With two, can't be done just backwards. This is masterful. I can't tell where he cut. Maybe a motion tracking camera rig was used and he filmed two separate versions of the scene?
I think the myth began after mothers-in-law couldn't take it anymore, and would break in to their kids houses at night to straighten things out. Where the festive pointy hat came from, I couldn't tell you.

Zsolt Kőrösi it does gives you that feeling but you still can't believe everything that comes out of his mouth. Think for yourself, do some research and debunk some of your own viral videos or something similar. Not saying he's wrong but, no one is right 100% if the time. By the by, I also think poltergeist videos are fake and are one of the easier things to fake on RU-vid or anything. So don't get your debunk in a twist.

stiimuli shot the cleaned room first, then matched action both times with jumpcuts and keyframing to make it look consistent. notice at 2:36 the wiggle? Thats the cut. But I could be wrong and he could have done it in real time, freezing action, resetting the counter and then shooting with some leader in to match the shakey motion. But I honestly don't know, I now am a skeptic of myself after watching CD.
joe scrocca What you're describing would require an extremely expensive motion control camera wouldn't it? Unless the camera shake was added in post but still the movement in and out of the room would need to be matched up exactly. I'll admit I don't know enough about video hardware and software to evaluate this sufficiently.
Not really, you can match action with simple edits and stuff if you can line up the frames in the edit. It is literally matching the cuts from shot to shot to look like 1 smooth motion, cupled with maybe a little zoom and frame adjustment. The camera mounts he describes to do the motion control (like in the lotto vid) are when he incorperates greenscreen and other things (which is plausible, but seems unneeded for something as simple as stop & go shooting) so that the shot can be manipulated to look like 1 continuous shot while something is being filtered in over the master. But seeing as this was filmed, then edited, that would be overly tedious for something that can be achieved by cutting, key framing and rendering in post. I will also admit that I have no clue how he ACTUALLY did this, but stop & go with some very precise cutting (and resetting the set) is plausible. Like I said, before I really like CD cause he makes you skeptical about even his own vids and production techniques.
Glad to see any kind of activity from you. Hope this means I'll be seeing more of you soon. And I think this episode works nicely unfinished. If Captain Disillusion can fake a neat freak poltergeist for a joke, why can't random internet guys fake messy ones for the lulz?
I just found out about the channel and going through old content, my OCD must point out that the "Ghost" did not put things back from the first tear up of the cabinets. The plates where in the middle cabinet after the clean up, but where in the right cabinet before the tear down. Moving on. The orange basket was in the right cabinet on the middle shelf to start and the "ghost" moved them to the bottom shelf of the same cabinet. The Cups attached to the string have also moved to the middle cabinet but are now on the middle shelf while before they were next to the plates. This "Ghost might clean up after you, BUT you would have to find everything afterward since it seems to move stuff around on you. Plates, cups, baskets, and even empty milk jugs. This "Ghost has continuity issues.
That's why CD is scared of the ghost. If it was perfect at putting things back no one would be bothered.... But the worst part of a ghost that cleans up after you but doesn't put your things back where they belong, is that you can never really find your stuff again! *BOO!*
The incredible bit is how well you get back in place between the two takes so that there's a seamless transition in the jump cut. Yes, jump cut...I believe there is only one jump cut. I believe you filmed it by messing up the kitchen, stepping out so the kitchen was out of frame, fixed the camera in place, cut (for a jump cut), reorganized (either you or a helper), started a new take and disguised it with fake camera motion when the dishes clanked, went back to handheld camera, revealed clean kitchen, messed up the kitchen again, stepped so the kitchen was out of frame, then tracked the shot to insert a 3D tracked clean plate for the final bit (instead of doing a cut). Otherwise...where can I find a ghost that helps me clean up the place??? I could *really* use it. No? Okay, I guess I need to stop being lazy.
I'm not sure, but when I ran this backwards through one of my programs, the camera shaking had a procedural aspect to it. In other words, it was mathematically predictable. So, the camera shaking might not have been hand held and been on a steady cam until the very end. Then, for the final shot, if the camera was on a preprogrammed course, a shot of the area cleaned up could be done and then edited in as he suggested with the pixel paint over.
Alfred Hitchcock directed Rope, a movie that looks as if it was shot in one continuous take. It wasn’t, no camera of the day could have held that much film stock. But he used very clever cuts to hide where the film stock was reloaded.

here is my guess: the first cut is at 2:33 since he spent relatively more time in that fixed pose. the second is at 3:05 because when you play the video at 0.25 speed, you see that motion blur is still there when his head is stationary while changing direction. i'm probably wrong though.
The edit in 2:33 is really well done, maybe he even morph between the jumpcuts because that is so damn smooth. The one in 3:05 tho is really obvious, its a wipe, he explained it in the escherian staircase video, the same technic, basically he cover the camera and when they pan back its a different shot with the part of the captain masked on it
The jump-cut is right at 2:34 when he looks to his left, he stands stil for a second. There is a little artificial camera shake to cover the imperfections as well. Atleast that's my theory, what do you think? When did the jump-cut for the second one occur? Edit: I don't think there is a jump-cut in the second poltergeist occurance. The footage of CD is one take for that one, but he seems to rotoscope himself into the cleaned kitchen shot.
I donno, as a kid I got quite adept at cleaning the kitchen in the short time span between when I first heard my mother’s car hit the driveway and when she walked through the front door 😂
1. Dolly. Definately. 2. What Dave said (notice, that CD's statements don't necessarily conflict his) Not a lot of post-production too. Cutting out a piece of footage, merging the spins, camera shakes, covering the hand and the last shot of the kitchen. That seems the easiest way to do it, so I'm leaning towards this rather than elaborate third party schemes or even more outlandish stuff.
@XBLMastrodicasa All right, maybe we can work together to figure out how he did it then! For the second time the room is clean, he would have taken a picture of the clean room, and then composited that image over the empty room, using motion tracking software to keep the picture in the right spot whenever the camera moves. But as for how he managed to to leave the room dirty, then walk back in with it clean IN ONE TAKE , you've got me stuffed.

You filmed with a larger fov then when edited the video you added the shake and only show a small part of the video you showed so it was easy to catch the moment when to merge the 2 videos together. Nicely done.
It strikes me that, as is his wont, CD tends to see digital manipulation, but there need be none involved. Monofilaments are close to invisible all on their own, and a concealed compressed air device needs no digital tricks to remain hidden. I think the salient point is that a poltergeist faker is totally free to set up all his flying objects beforehand, and can "pull the triggers" out of frame while the camera is running. The camera is perhaps fixed to simplify staying OOF for the faker.
