I've Cross Country skied for 15 years including at the collegiate D1 level and I own a SkiErg and I can say this is pretty good advice. So many people in CrossFit and gyms either destroy their back or do all kinds of crazy things with their arms. It's a really simple up down movement. Your body should be like a piston that compresses straight down and straight back up.

This was interesting I've been watching a number of these skierg videos. Many say what you are saying but their demo's they all pull down to their knees and then move their hands to the hips. You are the only one I've seen so far who doesn't do that.

Thanks for this, I ruptured my achilles and have to be seated for several months. Nice to see the growth of your YT channel. We met a number of years ago at the Crew Classic. Well done. This video applies to anyone using Ski Ergo due to limited leg, knee, ankle, and adaptive issues.

Uh-oh! Now I SkiErg!! - I blame your dang fine SkiErg videos after watching this quick-fix one, plus I also my gym which just installed a wall of new SkiErgs!! How thoughtless 😱 I had to have a go - I couldn’t help myself! Crazy I know, but I have ski’d just once, years ago, and snow boarded twice years ago - so what could go wrong?? I followed your instructions (minus the stool) and Jean Erbochers too! I wanted find out how this vertical rower that drives you up the wall, not the floor, actually works and feels. Felt like I was going smack into the machine a couple of times 🤪 - but I think I’ve cracked the balancing issue!! I had my 1st play at it 3 days ago and I am suddenly 1st in the 70-74 100m hwt rankings in the UK. 🥇 Don’t be too impressed - I am the only athlete in that category 🤣 but I am 6th out of 7 in the world! Yesterday, after 7-8k rowerging, I had another bash - knocked .8 of a sec off my 100m time, down to 20.5 secs. So now I’m stuck with but at least, thanks to you , I know what the benefits will be balancing the different power chains and strengthens up my core!! Yep - thanks Shane 😤🤪🤣👍🏼

Great video. I challenge you, though, to not go up as high with your hands during recovery, instead “catching” at eye- height. Keep the bent elbow angle, don’t straighten out your arms too much. Try it out and use Wattage as a measure of your efficiency. Thanks for all your great work!
