Getting enough stars to unlock all hundred upload slots in Super Mario Maker is almost impossible. Many people are facing the problem that they simply can't get as many stars as they need to unlock enough upload slots. This video tries to help you if you are facing this problem! We will discuss the main reasons why levels might not get many stars and there will be some tips and tricks on how to get more stars.
About half of the people playing mario maker never give out a star. That's mainly because of really young kids and people who never make but only play levels. So the best imaginable star-count you can realistically reach is about 5 stars per 10 footprints, and the question is how to do this.
The most obvious, and in my opinion most important, reason why a level doesn't get stars is because people don't finish it. There are only very few people starring levels they don't complete and if you are hunting stars you should aim for a clear-rate above twenty percent. If you want to evaluate how good your stage is performing you should look at the star-rate per person finishing your level.
But there are also some other tricks you can use to increase your star-gain. Every time you get a comment on a level you receive a star as well! So designing your super mario maker stage in a way that encourages leaving a comment might be a good idea.
