Quick Respawn Is BROKEN In TRICOLOR Turfwar...

My first match in tri-color was the only match where me and my teammate found a coordinating attacking team.

Using the shower technique to take the Ultra signal is also a really good one

Another fun thing with the ultra signals up is it's just free charge for your ink vac and it stops them inking for a short while, the jet squelcher was surprisingly effective for this map in particular for both attack and defense.

Tricolor is such an oddball to me. The only new gamemode in the game ONLY being accessible for half the splatfest while Shifty Stations were there all the time. Also, could nintendo really not afford one extra player for the 3v3v3? So weird.

I recognize that spawn camping is the smart thing to do during tricolor, but I still hate it. especially because when I'm on the attacking side, it's always done to my half of the "team".

Generally speaking, one of the many, many problems with a lot of maps is the over-abundance of uninkable walls. Imagine how many more routes would open up if they made that one simple change on multiple maps.

I kind of miss the splatfest specific maps. It was a neat thing to add for splatfests.

Even though I really dislike Turf overall, playing Tricolor with a mate was so fun and challenging. We even got 74% of the map in one game. Carrying in that mode feels so rewarding

There should be a reminder that if you're on the attacking side, the other attacking side is also on your team.

As someone who has had to defend for every previous splatfest it truly feels like they nailed tricolor this time. Stage design ensured backline wasn't boned if defending but also not busted if attacking It didn't take a million years to get back to mid as defenders It actually felt possible to push attackers bases Sprinklers of doom no longer filled in their radius after the buzzer so it wasn't a checkmate anymore Attackers didn't get a stupid amount of free turf in their base Attacking is actually really fun ngl Stage had lots of stuff to break extremely long sightlines so no eliter moments Mid was the tallest point aside from attack spawn so no getting sniped for trying to enter mid to defend Thin walkway ensured you had to actually deal with defenders to grab the signal and didn't get it because they were busy trying to get back up (sturgeon) Unironically I'd love to see untertow reworked closer to its tricolor version, like put snipes in their new spots where they were covered up, turn defender spawn areas into the enemy snipe flank, and just for memes a grate from one snipe to the other

Btw I've noticed that the ultra signal attempt only make it shorter for your team and not the other attacking team. It feels so good to be able to grab the ultra signal in 0,3 seconds

One thing I have to say is that after playing on this Tri-Color map, it gives me hope they can fix the normal maps due to how wide open this map is (the map is not perfect at all though).

Wait. People didn't get 25 mirror matches in a row trying to get the badges?

The ultra signal definitely mattered less on this tiny map somehow. Won multiple matches where we lost them both, didn't matter when eliter painted half the stage at the last second.

Little did I know that watching the stream was my closest experience to a real Tricolor as a Sweet. All I got was mirror matches 😭

i still think i wouldve preferred a 3v3v3 turf war without an ultra signal and had the ultra signal be its own like anarchy battle mode. it's a fun mode though, dont get me wrong

I think tricolor was much better this time even though there were still plenty of people that didn't understand the basic strategy. At least this time you could actually play it when you wanted to play it.

4:03-4:13 pretty much sums up Team Sweet's performance in Tricolor, at least from my perspective.

During Tricolor I picked up Junior again for the first time since I started the game (I had originally ditched it the moment I unlocked Splattershot and N-zap) and I found out just how effective it was at cheesing Tricolor for me. I got so many Ultra Signal steals when attacking thanks to just chucking a Splat bomb to clear a path to the Ultra Signal and then popping Big Bubbler right on top of it and taking the signal just like that. It was honestly rather fun lol. One match I even got both signals at the very start of the match first try for each despite how much longer the time to secure it was, solely because of the bubbler shielding me. I also gave Custom Junior a shot and it was similarly pretty effective on Tricolor but of course for slightly different reasons. Junior was also pretty useful as a defender using Bubbler to protect the signal, though not as effective because ultimately it just made it harder for attackers to clear a path and provided protection for defending players. I'd say Custom Junior was probably a bit better for defending while Vanilla was better for attacking.

I wish they'd stop making splatfests with one choice obviously being way more popular than the other(s). It's free extra points and just seems unfair

this splatfest was definitely the most fun next to the testfire! i got tricolor battles every time i wanted to play one, and i even got to play different teams! it was very cool, i enjoyed it very much and im looking forward to the next ones!

I found that Bloblobber works great on this map, especially if you are the defending team. I won almost all my matches and even got a badge for 10 Tricolor Turf War wins as a defending team.

Splatfest match making made me have back to back games where my team spawn camped to then being spawn camped the next round, truly a certified splatfest moment

I think saltspray rig would be awesome as a trycolor exclusive map so if they want to bring it back please do it only that way unless they feel like reworking it making it unrecogniseable, like mahi but in a good way

I was so confused how there was both pre-2.0 and post-2.0 gameplay in there because the splatfest colors from Gear vs Grub vs Fun were so similar to Spicy vs Sweet vs Sour.

I also ran quick respawn! I thought tricolor was fun, and enjoyed attacking and defending, and ways winning pretty consistently! Team sour we tried

5:53 this has been happening to me A LOT MORE recently. But its weird bc it doesnt show you taking damage until you die

Honestly I feel like the ultra signal doesn't matter much in winning for me. I've mostly been attacker (even during this event, only 2 defence games out of like 15 what), but it's more just about painting in the last 30 secs with your main and hope you do it in a good place and not die. I get high winrates with that. Most of my tricolor matches were against my own team anyway so it doesn't matter for the score.

Reef, Manta and Blackbelly are all maps that I think are returnable along with Pit and Ancho

I screamed at the screen too at the other attacking team in Tri Colour Battles as they were trying to take us out instead of team Spicy that were defending! I think a lot of people don’t understand this that although we are opposite teams we are working together!

Either my efforts to learn Charger payed off or the new horrible netcode makes sniping significantly easier

(other than sour players) did anyone else seem to have a hard to going against sour? I was on spicy and I literally NEVER went against sour. In previous splatfest I would have fought both teams in matches, but I just never came across them... Just wondering if my game is busted

One change is to make it so that one of the small teams winning doesn’t mean both it encourages teaming and turns it into a very unfair normal turf war they just need to get rid of that one thing and it will be so much better

I feel like a ranked turf war but with the same ultra signal mechanics could be cool

I've seen so many opposing team attacks attack each other like dumb dumbs when they could have easily secured the signal. I've probably also confused them when they see me approach the signal they get it first just to see me drop my bubbler next to them and turn to face the defenders instead of attacking them. Or when I'm not using a bubbler weapon body block while shooting enemy defenders instead of them. We can go at eachother after we secure the signals. Before then we practically team mates.

This splatfest taught me that when the internet rallys behind a character it’s clout is something you shouldn’t underestimate (and Murphy’s law is very real. I actually considered taking part in this splatfest and my right stick button decided to start breaking).

Oh so that's why I dominated so hard this event I was running a quick respawn. I had so much fun. We got 70% a couple times

My opinion on the tricolor turfwar: Basically, it was great I was only able to play it with two weapons. The first one is e-liter, which was Super Fun to Camp the Attacking team. It was basically a Rythm game like 1 2 3 4 5 Npc 1 Splated 1 2 3 4 5 Npc 2 Splated And Goes On And On.The Second Weapon Was l3 nozzle Which Was Absolutely Perfect In This Mode You use curling Not For Mobility But To Act As a Speed bump blocking the main path Eliminating Any Sneaky play And If They're Rushing They Will be Delayed By like 0.5 second Which Is More than Enough to be Spotted And Splated And Ofcourse Crab, You Basically Roll Into Their Base And Turf The Whole Place. I Think The map Is Great But One Problem the ramp to the Attacking team base, it serves no purpose other than Alowing short range weapons to spawn camp which is weird considering all the measures nintendo takes to Stop spawn camping Conclusion: 4/5 spicy Should've won. sweets are bad for your health.

While I appreciate not waiting in the lobby forever or getting a regular match when hoping for a tricolor, hopefully the next splatfest theme doesn't have 2 niche choices and one CLEARLY overwhelmingly favored choice so we don't get mirrored from lack of enough players. On another note: If you're playing a mirror tricolor match with no clout stakes on attack team, you're better off not going for the signal and just sticking to turfing/focus fire.

When I was on the attacking team I wouldn't attack the other team if they were going for the ultra signal.

Ink vac is actually god tier in tricolor if you're an attacker. Give your ally a free shield while getting a signal and you can eat up all tenta missiles that attack you (I ran into lots of reef-lux and flingza)

I always see people complaining that the other attacking team kills you at signal and you should work together, but when you get clout for ultra signal attempts/claims that only seem to be if your side gets them, then it does incentivize you to go against each other. I could be wrong and the clout is shared though

What was the name of the dynamo in the 1st game? A friend and I were running dynamo + Vjr during Tri-color with a very high success rate. I actually chose dynamo because I realized that qr would be extremely good, and dynamo has Tacticooler

Yeah I usually run a good amount of quick respawn in normal games to get back in the frontlines quicker but it was this splatfest that I noticed the attacking teams naturally have a quicker respawn time which is pretty insane

quick respawn is so useful in tricolor, especially when you're in an attacker team, which are encouraged to go frontline to secure the ultra signal, and during the process u r expected to die ALOT

I have to disagree with this strategy because the Defense is going to be Very Active and Constantly going for the signal with quick respawn in most cases will not work considering if ur not careful you will just be a liability cuz u have to Turf not just go for signal

I personally love splatfests because they're so much easier on my eyes and Tri-Color Turf War is so god damn fun. I hope when Splatfests stop they bring Tri-Color as like a nornal mode or something.

Honestly, with how hard it is to ink turf with jet squelcher and 96 Gal, I see Big Swig having a nice niche in tri colors if you overload it with quick respawn and special charge up. your job would literally be stealing back hefty amounts of turf and using Ink Vac on your fellow attackers so that they can steal signals faster. On the games you defend, Ink Vac still has insane value because the attackers are all split up anyway, so even if you're not actively killing people, your presence on the map as a turf stealing ink vac spammer is extremely vital.

I was worried about why Missiles didn't have cooldown until I realized It was another Splatfest LOL. Thank god now that exists

The "fixes" to tricolor made my contributions to my team pretty useless. I would rather take 5 minutes to match into a spicy vs sweet vs sour then match into sweet vs sweet vs sweet and get no clout. I only got 40000 clout because all my matches were against my own team! Still won the splatfest, but please, make tricolor better!

That poor dynamo in the 10x having to endure Splatoon 2- I mean pre-patch missiles with 4 reefluxes. Must not have been fun

So that's why tricolor is limited to just one day during splatfests. If they let us play it freely for even a week we would've just completely destroyed what little balance the mode had, lol I already thought it was kinda dumb that defenders get no reward for successfully defending the ultra signal (no grace period as someone can instantly go for it again) but the fact that they're actually punished even when they stop you is absurd.

I got bored and realized I had a really big supply of QR chunks compared to everything else so I made a QR pure for fun. QR is so stupid lmfaoooo

Whenever me and my friend were attacking, I would wait until my Ink vac was charged, use it, place the vortex over the signal, and tell my friend to grab the signal while the vac was active. It isn’t too reliable for a multitude of reasons, but it’s a cheap way to secure it if you manage to pull it off.

After seeing your video on Splatana Wiper, I’ve been truly inspired as a Wiper main to try becoming a QR menace. >:)

Yeah I noticed feeders were the key to us losing while defending lol. Tricolor should have been 3v3v3, no siding with the other team. An actual free for all. I have no desire to play this unbalanced game mode now that I have all the badges

Competing over the signal is important!! While it makes *winning* a bit harder, you get clout for your team for every claimed signal. Letting the other attackers get the signal means giving that team a big leg up on you in the overall standings. There's a reason you can Splat the other attackers: You are NOT on the same team. At the end of the day, the mode is still Turf War with three teams, so all you have to do to *win* is make sure your team have the most. My biggest complaint about the mode is that both defending teams win if either of them win, which I think is really lame because it means after the second signal is claimed there is zero reason to fight the other attackers anymore, so you just punch down on the defenders and it feels really bad to completely ignore the other team even if they have more Turf than you.

The only problem I ever notice affecting me is attacking teams never cooperate. The amount of times the other attacking team has come after me is awful. Why are people so incredibly uncooperative in this game.

So many people on team sweet. Was wondering why throughout the entire weekend I only ever fought one singular team sour team in normal and pro turf wars.

Did anyone notice team sweet avoided tri color cuz mostly all the rounds I got were filled with team spicy tri colors
