This was exactly what happened to me except I was using brand new Pittsburgh socket and extension from Harbor Freight. Helped me in a pinch.

Telescopic magnet works too.

I have good luck by justing putting a side load on the extension as I pull the extension out.

Tape works or locking extension that's long enough 3/8 drive.

At least you can get to' the plugs!

You stated that you were having trouble retrieving and were going to show us what to do. I think the tape could have been used to put on the extension end , then jammed in the socket at bottom of spark plug hole so it would retrieve the socket. Maybe best answer is to combine both techniques. Thanks for your good suggestion for avoiding the dropped socket.

It has not help me out at all. You did not mention how you got the socket out. You said that your extention was old

This doesn't tell you how to get the socket out when it's stuck. It only tells you what to do in advance to having the problem. This vid doesn't address the title of the video.
