Absolutely! It pays off huge to take your time. I'd love to make soft plastics like he does. I've only made some hard baits thus far. I started wanting to make a nice swimbait for myself and had NO idea what it would turn in to. Anyways, taking my time to do it right, which meant alot trial and error as consistent info was hard for me to find, I ended up with a bait that swam great and eventually caught fish for me. I somehow only recently found your channel. It has been responsible for huge chunks of missing time in my life 😜 Thank you for sharing what you have learned and perfected. Not everyone does that. Some really regard lure making as a secret to be guarded, which is fine, that is certainly there prerogative to do so. That is why, what you do is so valuable. 👍

hello, my name is alexis, i'm french. I make soft lures on a model that I made myself. I have a question for you. I hope you will have time to answer me, when I sink put a lure in pure plastisol without dye, while I have no more bubbles in my pyrex, my lure always comes out with a few bubbles inside, and sometimes there are a lot of micro bubbles. how could i remedy her? thank you your soft lures are beautiful.

Mine takes roughly 3 & a half minutes to get to proper temperature but I get bubbles what can you do to get rid of bubbles with only a microwave
@loopster40
@loopster40 Год назад
Once you get it to temperature. Then you start adding colors and other stuff to the mix. If it cools down during that this time. Do you reheat it to 350 degrees? And how long do you cook it for?
@helotaxi
@helotaxi 5 месяцев назад
After that initial cook to 350, it doesn't need to get that hot ever again. You only need it hot enough to have the level of fluidity needed for what you're doing with it. Dead On says you can pour/inject their plastics down to, I think, 280 F.
@gorilafishing4778
@gorilafishing4778 3 года назад
Could you add the colours and glitter a bit before reaching 350? And then reach 350 with everything ready and go straight to inyection? Thanks!
@helotaxi
@helotaxi 5 месяцев назад
Once it starts to gel, the colorant and flake won't mix evenly into the plastic so you aren't going to know what the final color is going to really look like and you'll still need to mix it further once it's all converted.

How long should I cook with a 1000watt microwave
@seanp9157
@seanp9157 3 года назад
It definitely can be finicky! One time, I burnt some plastisol while making tails for my homemade, hard-swimbaits and accidentally came out with something really cool. I was making pink tails for some rainbow trout baits. I used a few different brands of chopped soft plastic worms, grubs, etc. One of them clearly ended up having a much lower melting temp than the others. So those pieces burnt as they came into contact with the bottom and sides of the pot. I poured them anyways and was really excited when I saw how they came out. Each tail was pink, but had random flecks of black distributed throughout each tail. Happy accident!

Tips for doing this hobby to start without vacuum chamber?
@scottkidder438
@scottkidder438 3 года назад
I keep a cheat sheet on the side of my microwave, 2oz, 4oz, 6oz, 8oz, 12oz and 16oz. these are all set up for cook, stir, and hit the +30 second button to land in between 350 and 360. If you do this PLEASE keep in mind even the same brand same wattage microwave WILL have differences! I had to cut 5 seconds up to 20 seconds (depending on ounces) when I got a new one.... which would have fried my plastic if I would not have tested it first.

@jonathanbacon1825
@jonathanbacon1825 2 года назад
You said the chemical reaction happens at 350 degrees but in you laminate video you say the plastic should be cooler, around 330 degrees. Are you letting it sit and cool down to get the lower temps for laminates or are you not ever making it to 350? Thanks for all of you info, great video
@WorldsWorstFishing
@WorldsWorstFishing 2 года назад
All plastisol compounds have to reach a certain conversion temperature, from there you can work with them at lower temperatures, they only have to convert once
