Thanks for the review and comparison. I think you can also set the sleep timeout for FX-951 although the setting procedure is not very straightforward due to Hakko’s poor user interface.

This video was super helpful as I use a couple Hakko products at home and I'm trying to find the best value option to recommend my employer purchase for store use. If you haven't already, I would highly recommend investing the $100-150 in a Hakko micropencil + 1-2 tips. You could keep mid and large size tips on the Quick and really power though jobs with that pairing.

Thanks, I've had my eye on this new line of Quick models, but haven't seen much in the way of actual reviews. I'm also looking at the new TR series hot air stations as well.

I haven't seen the TR hot air stations yet but I just posted a review on the Quick 861DW yesterday. Quick makes great tools at an excellent price.

It call J tip. You supposed to use curve to store solder, and the end of the tip is use tu melt solder on the part. It is a versatile tip.

Thanks for the video, I just got one. I’m really pleased with it over my old set up. The manual leaves much to be desired, English translation isn’t very good, they left a few things out. I still don’t really understand the 3rd channel dual temperature welding with timing setup. Another glaring omissions is that the soft rubber forward portion of the soldering iron handle has a very sensitive contact sensor that allows you to wake it up out of sleep with just a slight squeeze. By the way don’t engage with trolls, you’ll never win an argument with a moron.
@BetterBiomedChannel
@BetterBiomedChannel 4 года назад
I'll have to try out the grip sensor tomorrow. I was wondering how you wake it up after it enters sleep mode (besides a button press)

@Chris Roubis Наконечник от Т12 не подойдет к паяльнику Quick TS1200A. Для этого паяльника необходимо жало Quick TSS02.

07:31 The implication seems to be the Hakko goes to sleep immediately being a drawback, but I'm pretty sure the Hakko's menu parameter #2 lets you set the time to sleep. From page #5 of the FX-951 manual: "2 0" being sleep immediately when placed on the holder, "210" sleep 10 minutes after placed on the holder, "230" auto shutoff after 30 minutes on holder.
@BetterBiomedChannel
@BetterBiomedChannel 3 года назад
True, but it's nice to have a device with a modern interface so I can read the settings on the screen without digging out a manual..
@gregercolano8032
@gregercolano8032 3 года назад
@@BetterBiomedChannel Agreed -- not a fan of that 3 digit cryptic mode interface. VHS and microwaves from the 80's and 90's forever flashed "12:00" for the same reason. Still, once set, at least the Hakko remembers the setting. Trying to decide between the two myself; need a new iron.
@BetterBiomedChannel
@BetterBiomedChannel 3 года назад
@@gregercolano8032 The difference is in the tips availability. The Hakko has more options but the Quick has many more on the market since I last bought tips.

So you've had it for a little while now, any new thoughts? Tips holding up compared to the Hakko T series stuff, any bugs, etc? Asking since I've been eyeballing one of these to save my FM204 from riding around in my field bag. Also been looking to pick up a couple for work in the lab (embedded systems EE. Ie, those people I bet you're cursing when you run into goofy design choices :P ). Big rework stations are nice and all, but it's very common to drag an iron to your desk for making little tweaks during dev work. Something smaller like the FX or Quick would be ideal. Shame the Tx and TS tips aren't interchangeable though. Saw some things about different heater core resistances.
@BetterBiomedChannel
@BetterBiomedChannel 4 года назад
I really like the 4mm round angle tip. I run this iron still at 350degC and the tips are holding up great ( of course I clean them before letting solder sit and bake in..) This iron heats up and recovers so quickly with the 4mm round angle that my Hako hasn't even been turned on. I have the Quick for large thermal mass and the Hako next to it with the fine tips. I love them both.

@@BetterBiomedChannel Hi, I didn’t what to upset you, but it turns out many people outside USA and Europe can’t get soldering stations like PACE and Hakko for the same price you guys can get, therefore we just only can rely on these alternative soldering stations, and we want to know if those stations are a good investment for us and our work places, this is why we want to watch a more detailed reviews and comparisons against these well know brands and appreciate this videos, thanks, and keep going with this videos 👍
@BetterBiomedChannel
@BetterBiomedChannel 3 года назад
No, I'm not upset. I have specific uses for a soldering station since I repair medical equipment. This iron is used differently here in my shop than in many other locations because of regulations, risks of medical devices and efficiency of component repair / vs assembly replacement. Most soldering iron use in biomed shops is minimal. I care about the speed of the iron reaching temperature and the ergonomics of the system - both of which are excellent on the Quick unit. If anyone else does make a video on soldering iron capabilities, I really would love to watch it. -Justin

translate could you plz? hakko

don't buy it!!!!!, it's 10000x times better to buy a jabe with JBC tips, belive me, have the ts1200a for a while and when I changed it was a whole new world. You may calibrate te quick to do the job but that will kill very fast the tips. That's why the JBC tips are the best out htere and use with a Jabe, or buy the complete JBC!
