I wish system security actually meant something. I don't mind being ganked and killed in a lawless system, but the fact that the most dangerous place to be in the entire galaxy is the most popular system in the middle of civilization is just wrong imo.
@@vogonjelc Highsec. You were just not carrying anything of value, therefore not worth suicide ganking. Elite needs this sort of punishment-reward dynamic like EVE too.
Yeah, I think there are less than 25 (maybe 35) players who are Elite in CQC and while there are a lot of triple Elite's quad is exceedingly rare. A good friend, CMDR Apostolakos has been slowly working on CQC Elite for about 18 months (maybe longer) and he's not even half way there yet. The requirements for Elite CQC are just plain silly.
Yep, and that's the biggest issue - I did a video on CQC a while back, it has links to the CQC Discord which is fairly active, so if you are looking to play drop in there and ping folks, you can usually stir up a match pretty quickly.
It ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY is - in fact I've said for years I wish it was integrated into the mission board. Imagine taking a mission to fight for a faction in a CQC tournament. If there aren't enough humans ad bots - as we already have NPCs that can fly and fight. It would get more people involved in combat and likely in PvP and add another really fun activity to the boards.
I almost included that but as I'm convinced that Raxxla is absolutely NOT in the game at the moment, and won't be until Frontier wants us to find it, I tend to not get into lore too much. But it's a good point none the less.
Great place to meet some of the best PVPers in the game. Most are very cool and more than willing to help out with advice and ship builds - providing you're not a salty douche. Tip: Watch your comms panel, there are pirates that are not interested in killing you. They just want their share of your cargo and usually only want a few tons. Fight back or run and you will quickly meet a rebuy screen.
I remember when I reached the rank of elite on exploration (my first elite) man it feel so good to achieve it and go for the next one, I will never look back again how I played this game on my early hours of gameplay before knowing you guys making these excellent well made tutorials guides and tips such Yamiks, D2EA, obsidian ant and You exigeous. And it’s such an honor to be part of this awesome community:p :D
Yep, exactly - most people that say that have never even been there in open, they just hear one bad experience or someone bitching on Reddit/forums and assume it's like that all the time. Does it happen, absolutely. Does it happen constantly and you just can't fly in Shin, no, not at all.
As convenient as the 10% discount is, I find it fairly easy to just hit LYR systems and get a 15% discount. I can have a ship bought and fully A-rated in just a handful of jumps, ready for engineering.
@@doctorintrovertsius2211 - it's a 10% discount. You also get a 2.5% discount for being Elite at all stations; I think Exigeous was just combining the two. They're apparently multiplicative though, not additive. Go to an LYR station and you get 15% off plus 2.5% off if you're Elite.
Yeah, I suppose I should have been a little clearer about the 2.5% being everywhere and that getting added to the 10% at Shin -- I suppose it's just odd to word it that way as since you have to be Elite to get access to Jameson anyway that's why I listed 2.5% While sure, you can get things slightly cheaper by jumping around for many of us the convenience of a one-stop-shop far outweighs the small difference in price, especially when credits are so easy these days. I also greatly prefer Jameson because it's "alive". There are always commanders there, always something going on. Many don't enjoy that, which is cool, but many of us do. That said Jameson isn't my home as my player faction's home system is about 200LY away but that's only 4 jumps in my taxi when I need to buy something.
CMDR Exigeous - I agree entirely, Shinrarta is very alive. I wish the rest of the Bubble were as alive; sometimes when I’m playing an evening of Self-Appointed Cargo Inspector And Wealth Redisributor, it can take forever just to find any players even in supposedly busy systems.
Agreed - I too greatly enjoy PvP piracy and really REALLY miss community goals as those were great places to pirate. You can hit up some of the popular systems with high void opal and painite prices, look at the traffic and see how busy they are. Even still it's a pain - what's really sad is if you look at the commander map on EDSM.net you'll see hundreds of commanders in various systems, not that you'll ever see them thanks to the shitty net-code in Elite. Just imagine if we didn't have to deal with instancing and everyone was just together, ala Eve Online. That would be amazing.
Yes and no - technically the PvP "home system" is San Tu. not as popular as it once was but still pretty popular. Really at Shin you'll see pilots of all types, in fact almost always more non-PvP pilots that PvP. It is a shame that the gankers go after anyone they can there, but with the right outfitting you can get by pretty easy. The guy that grabbed me in the video is one of the best pilots in the game and even he couldn't kill my DBX before I could escape.
@@Exigeous you should see the Deciat and yes there is some non-pvp players but pvp players usually dont even bother them unless its you or yamiks lol Pvp players more likely look for another pvper (not all of them)
Oh sure, Deciat is usually much worse that Shin is in terms of gankers - mainly as Shin has numerous high skill combat pilots so less "weak" targets than Deciat. And it's nice to see someone who realizes there is a big difference between PvP and ganking, and while many PvPers have engaged in ganking before the vast majority of the time they want a target that is evenly matched and shoots back.
In the deadliest system in the galaxy - yes. Check out my "Beginners Guide to Open" for details on how to properly outfit and tactics to use to keep yourself safe. A properly built trading Python should absolutely be able to survive an attack long enough to escape.
Why don't we get a shit ton of people to align with L.Y.R. and expand his territory out to the Brestla system so that players without Elite can buy everything they need in one place at only a 5% Mark up instead of the 20% that's current? It'd be one hell of a community goal
Shinrarta Dezhra - Where Elite Dangerous is actually dangerous. Hell even in a Corvette fully engineered for combat its dangerous, when you go up against 2 Cutters and can barely charge your FSD to get away. I wonder how fast I'll get to Elite by ganking gankers.
Hmm, that's odd as I've never been killed there in either my DBX, Type 9 or Courier. Maybe you should watch my Flying in Open for Beginners guide as while it is, and should be the most dangerous system in the galaxy as you did have to earn Elite rank to access it, you can absolutely survive it just fine. Let's also remember you're not going to, not should you, survive every combat encounter you face, right? Knowledge is power.
@@Exigeous Yeah maybe I just got unlucky with the 2 Cutters. Anyway thanks for the reply, I watched that video plus your PvP Combat Beginner's Guide. I will most certainly keep in mind what you said about suicide Sidewinders, and come to think of it Im sure yesterday somebody attempted to do just that in an Eagle at Jameson Base. He survived with 80% hull and I didnt understand why we made contact.
Remember kids don't do drugs , and Shinrata is the murder capital of the galaxy. Plus you can get better discounts in Li Yong Rui space with any rank. Save credits play better, Li Yong Rui.
No no no no no! Don't do the *wrong* drugs, the *right* drugs can be awesome! As for LYR's discount yep, the extra 2.5% is, well tiny - for many of us we enjoy the fact that Jameson is so active and that you can buy everything in a single stop, especially given how incredibly easy credits are these days.
