Hello there. Just watched your video on the silencer. With mine. I extended it with a piece of 22mm copper pipe to the rear under my bumper. Works a treat. Make it quieter and throws exhaust gases away from my van. Works with original silencer. Great videos….
Brilliant The pump was my biggest concern But I got the silent pump from James absolutely amazing You can’t hear a thing They can be mounted anywhere too I have mine screwed under the floor
@@WanderbusAdventures check out videos on RU-vid mate for silent pump James browningsmith I emailed the guy he’s brilliant the pump makes no noise and it anti syphon so strong too Brilliant
Ours is the same as yours, I think. Ours is in the boot though, so hear it inside. On Daves list of things to sort 🙂. We were parked next to Max and Sophie last night, and Max was concerned about the noise(as theirs is underslung). I couldn't hear it though,at all, so I wouldn't worry about your neighbours too much. 😀
@@WanderbusAdventures That would be great because I have a diesel heater as well. Gonna try and get the afterburner kit Ford. But I first gotta see if mine's compatible. I'll be putting it in my homemade camper
Does your heater still run fine? I do know from my changes to my car that using different mufflers can impact back pressure, the amount of force needed to expel exhaust, in some cases. It may not apply to diesel heater mufflers as much or not at all. I see it didn't fail right off the bat so that's good news.
Touch wood it’s been fine. Main thing to consider is not creating restrictions/kinks. I’ll likely service it this winter coming to see how it’s fairing but so far so good.
Great video as usual buddy... Noise levels are because it's the speed and or pressure coming out.. 1, put old silencer back on and extend exhaust out and around the back of the van towards the driverside or 2, use two new silencers.second one around where number plate goes.. hope I've explained it good enough buddy..can't remember your name, sorry
Agree, especially at the distance measured (I had it on the floor). What I will say is it seems to have lowered the pitch a bit too which I think is better. Less whooshy perhaps - if that’s a good term?
One problem vehicle exhaust is suppressing a pulsing gas. Here we are looking at continuous flow. Something i noticed, my first exhaust pipe rotted and had holes in it. Was louder when i fitted new pipe. Have a 2nd heater tomorrow to experiment with. Ordered box silencer but not impressed by yt vids.
Yes, you do get a pulse for sure with these. Ah interesting those box silencers. I might grab one to do a test too. It can always go on the end. At the time of this video the little box ones weren’t really mainstream I don’t think.
Good question! I asked the manufacturer and they report they’ve used this setup for years without any issues. They also pointed out for marine use they must be sealed and have no drain. Now I’ve reflected on it I can’t see there being a problem. Id have thought the majority would pass out the end or be removed when the vehicle is in motion.
To be fair inside we use it as the same Rob 😂. It’s not louder than the boiler in the house when we are inside - well maybe a bit louder. Or a bit quieter now 🤔.
Just get a log burner, the sound of crackling wood is so relaxing, and who cares if those who are trying to sleep in the tent next to you suffer,at least you all are lovely and cosy 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
If noise is an issue then gas fired heating is almost silent. Personally I am seriously considering a dickinsons marine diesel heater. They are gravity fed and give that real fire ambience. Obviously more expensive than generic Chinese diesel heaters but no more expensive than proper diesel heaters from proper engineering companies such as erberspacher, webasto etc (little hand grenade for the Chinese heater fanboys there, 🤣).
That’s true, gas certainly is quieter. We just wanted to reduce it a little, and we’ve noticed the pitch is lower too which is good for our ‘neighbours’. That diesel boat heater looks interesting too, a potential alternative to a wood burning stove
