I saw them in Austin last April and man these guys really rocked it. Give them a chance, damn. It is sad Kevin, Randy, and Frankie are gone. It has the blessings of the DuBrow's and Banali's. One day soon this will all truly be gone, enjoy it while you can and able folks.
It’s good seeing Johnny Kelly performing. I had no idea he was also drumming with QR. Always love seeing Rudy perform, his love of music apparent. It’s not the original QR, but they’re keeping the music alive and doing it well.
The amount of energy Rudy still has is just stunning! Turning 74 this year and not a sign of slowing down! Say what you want about the lineup but they are pretty tight and energetic bunch of seasoned musicians and Jizzy has no trouble at all singing those tunes. Not sounding like Kevin but it's actually just a good thing. His own natural voice fits in quite nice.
It’s a pathetic crying shame as to why COLUMBIA records couldn’t break love Hates wasted in America album which got a good budget and a damn good producer,I remember seeing them at the limelight in New York when they were working on the album and their guitarist had his nose broken in a fight at the SCRAP BAR on mc Dougal street, They still left something behind them that will be looked back on with satisfaction !!!!!!!
It’s too bad that love/hate wasted in America never generated enough sales to keep the band on the road to success in 1992 when Wasted in America came out, I hung out with them at their flat where they stayed doing the album with John Janson and played the LIMELIGHT in New York.
happens with our favorite rock and metal bands unfortunately...so much happens off stage and out of the spotlights with these bands during their downtime.
this is barely Quite Riot,Rudy is the only original member so sad that kevin and the drummer and Randy 🥁 passed away don’t know why Carlos doesn’t join them then you’d have 2/4ths of the 80’s lineup, this might as well be a tribute band
I couldn’t agree more. I’m from the thought that you can’t fault anybody for making a living. But I simply can not see the appeal of people saying they went to see Quiet Riot, Foreigner, Autograph, etc….i might even throw Vixen on that list too. Don’t get me wrong, all top notch musicians, and to each their own, but I don’t get it…..
The way I look at it is that it’s one notch above a tribute band as there are band members with connections to its history. So given the choice I’d rather see this than an actual tribute band. It’s not going to bring in new fans but is satisfies some of the diehard fans. Nothing wrong with that IMO.
The challenge in having to go on after founding members pass on is not having the same "touch" on the instruments. The drummer is a excellent player, but he can never have the same touch! Rather than compare,we should be thankful and honor the memory of the people who passed!
You are probably correct, this since Sarzo didn't write much or any of the QR music or lyrics. I guess by being the only member around from the most celebrated years of the band, he gets to carry the QR name by default. I wounder why Carlos Cavazo wouldn't want to carry the flag with Rudy.. That would be nice Carlos, Sarzo, Pearl
Love rudy. But for me quiet riot was Kevin Rudy Frankie and Carlos. I was at the 83 us fest. Not knocking rudy. He definitely has the right to keep quiet riot going. I just miss the rest of the original guys. Especially that crazy ass Kevin's voice and stage persona.
I really wonder about the business interests of bands today that live off past names like this, with only one non-founding-member of a band that went through various iterations, and still perform today. I’m glad Metal of the past is still strong, but boy, where’s the money going? Does DuBrows’s estate and Cavazo get anything for the carrying on of the band? I should ask Gene Simmons - bet he’s got it figured out.
