Tom Selleck, Laura San Giacomo, and Alan Rickman star in this stylish take on the venerable Western genre from the director of ""Lonesome Dove."" Arriving in Australia with nothing more than a saddle and his Sharps rifle, American sharpshooter Matthew Quigley (Selleck) thinks he's been hired to kill off wild dogs. But when he realizes that his mission is to eradicate the Aborigines from the property of a wealthy cattle baron (Rickman) - Quigley refuses...and quickly turns from hunter to hunted.

The rifle was purchased for the film based on input from Tom Selleck as he wanted to make sure the firearms portrayed in the film were accurate for the time period. He did end up keeping it after filming until it was sold at auction in 2023.

Quigley is entertainment that we once knew how to make. Now we are so busy teaching political lessons and correctness that we have forgotten the first thing - get them to like and enjoy your movie. Don't bore me with your life style choices and wishes just make a good movie. I'll get my news from other sources, if I want that.

Watched this movie when it came out walked out disappointed it is a nothing movie that is why you hear nothing about it everything about it is nothing.
