What a charming, entertaining, and lovely woman you are! I loved how you made it all work on this Dresden plate-and you’re right...you cannot even tell! Such a pretty project. Thanks very much.😊❤️
You did exactly what i would have done , i was saying , fold it over , fold it over , . So " two great minds think alike . . Very pretty . Was making a dresden plate myself , yesterday and today . Also a 'cathedral steps . Enjoyed the video . Hope you make somemore . 🙂
Yes , they are . I have been sewing since i was about 14 , i am 80 this year , i still love it . Good idea using felt , Looking forward to more of your videos . Keep safe .
Jean I absolutely love the table topper. I’m going to try this on a center piece. Your family is precious. Congratulations on the new baby. Your granddaughter has grown so much. Thanks.

I love this! So pretty and festive. Thank you for the non-tutorial. haha It was fun to see how you made it work and that everything does not have to be perfect!
Awesome tutorial Jean as always...I never miss a video of yrs...just love ya!! Congrats on new grandson coming soon....I have 10 grandkids w 2 great grandsons...they give me such joy!!
Love that harvest festval fabric. So pretty. My first Dresden has 22 blades. In my defence m'lud, I was so keen to start one, I didn't wait for my template and made a paper one. That little one from the block party was really cute. Loved it.
That was fun Jean! I have made 3 QAYG quilts, (not enough space). I made and quilted all the blocks first, then joined them all together using sashing strips on the front and back. It was very handy, because I did not have enough fabric for the backing in one piece, so it ended up as a checkerboard backing. I liked them all very much. Very fiddly getting my head around the sashing bit!
Oh my goodness Jean..I do things like that all the time!! Aren’t we supposed to? Love it and love the tutorial on how to fix mistakes! Isn’t that what you meant to do? 😉😉😉
Hi Jean. This is fabulous and a great tutorial in initiative! 😄 . Maybe drawing the finished patterns first onto your brown felt in the circle ⭕️ would show us the mystery? Thanks for showing us the process💕
i have washed felt before with no issues, so i use it for a batting sometimes, perhaps there are some you cant, but i havent had an issue with it.. always try things :)
I had to use 21 blades on my first Dresden. Then I found out that you need to square up each quadrant (5 Blade), then it lies flat. Never tried a quilt as you go with one.
Funny that....I have made about 6 quilts using this exact same ruler/template (Dresden Plate thing) and have ALWAYS had the 20 fit perfectly!! What the heck happened here?!?! LOL!
I can't find the video when you said you don't use the supreme slider when free motion quilting. I think you said you spray something on the sewing machine. If I remembered correctly, what is it that you spray?
Yea, I long time ago I think I used the silicone spray "Blaster" ~ either from Lowes or HOme Depot (In USA). I didn't use an actual expensive supreme slider, but a less expensive version of.....didn't really like it. My machine bed is slippery enough I find.
The colors are absolutely stunning! I have no idea what happened other than we'll blame it on the felt. I wonder in this case, if using a scant quarter inch would work?😀
YES!! The felt is the culprit!! It's all about that darned felt!! LOL! LOL! I TRIED the scant quarter...but the difference I was out was about TWO INCHES!!! Hmmmmmmm
Looks great. I think the center circle needs to be slightly smaller. You may need to press or mark your 1/4" first. A bit labour intensive but more accurate.
@@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory love you to bits. I'm in the UK I would love to be in your work room. You are a woman after my own heart. Give it a go what's the worse that can happen lol.
your sewing a 1/4 inch seam but you didn't take into account that when you fold over the blade your loosing another 1/4 inch from just flipping it over, not sure if i am explaining it to where you are understanding me i know what i'm trying to say but having a hard time explaining it lol
I had to add a blade to my last Dresden plate also. Used a 1/4 inch piecing foot. I don’t know what happened. I am trying to figure out how to finish a Dresden plate like that that could be washed. I put a circular back on it but it did not quite cover the raw edges on the back of the blades. Does anyone have any ideas?
So you pieced the dresden plate and then put it (appliqued it?) onto a backing fabric? If you blanket stitch the points around the edges of the plate you will not have any raw edges. Does that make any sense?
