I've been making pot holders as Christmas Gifts this year. I decided to use some cute Tula Pink Tea Cup fabric as a focus fabric against a solid grey background (my sister's favorite color!).
This week I've filmed myself winging it through making a double pot holder or double oven mitt if you'd rather call it that.
In my next video, I'll be making some even simpler square pot holders with a cute little hanging loop.
I mentioned in the video I would have written blog tutorials for both pot holder projects but they aren't quite up yet - when they are I'll put the links here or you can head to my blog scrapfabriclove.com/ and sign up to my email list and I will send you the tutorial links as soon as they are up!

Got pads so I can practice on my binding so I can feel confident in doing the binding on my first quilt I got done and just waiting for the finishing touch...the binding.

I would like to first of all wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! Your videos are the hi-lite of my emails. I watch and save them all. I like your easy going sewing methods. One tip I hear from all my sewing peeps is "always keep your fingers behind the rotary cutter". Accidents happen. I haven't been sewing much lately, maybe next year. Best of Health for you and your family.

Love your double oven mitt and pot holders, I am making place mats for gifts this year. I know they are not used by everyone; but my friends and family do use them.

I’m making an outfit a month for plastic flamingo yard ornaments for my daughter. And I’d really like to finish a quilt I have started for my own bed. Everything else is done. Oh, and a Halloween quilt needs to be sewn for my 7 year old grandson. I’m not late for Halloween. He told me after Halloween that he wanted it. But I’m a person that could be very late with sewing something.

At least your grandson gave you some good notice for next year! Much better than being asked the week before or something!

If I had missed that little bit of fabric at the rounded end, I would have gotten out the bowl, slide it down a half an inch, and drew it over again. Potholder would just been a tiny bit shorter. Guess I'm not patient enough to fuss with a bitty boo boo patch. I like the project and am going to give it a try. Love your channel.

I'm making a t-shirt throw quilt for my oldest son using a Rebel Girl pattern that looks like the t-shirts are album covers with a pieced half record coming out of them. Also have a couple of small items in the works for other family members. Your idea to use your finger to space quilting lines is genius!!

I'm making some little fabric green Christmas trees with a twig for the tree truck and a loop of string to hang it on the tree. Definitely wonky and "homely", but fun. If I have time I will make a few pot holders too. Your's are so cute with the tea pots just the right touch!

I’ve made a bazillion or so potholders already & used all my fabric. Now I’m going to try & get some more to make a matched set!! If not, the fashion police will surely let me off the hook…won’t they?!?!!! 😂

One consideration for bastin: fusible webbing (and it is what I use and recommend). I generally run parallel strips about 3" apart for quilts and smaller for smaller projects. (I baste on my quilt wall and use steam iron to set). It is quick and secure. Though I have a large roll of MistyFuse that I cut into strips, I have found that the 1/4" rolls are of fusible webbing works great. I actually ordered some cheap ones from TEMU (not an advert for them) for 1.28 for 70 yards. It was uber convenient and perfect quality.

Great video, I will definitely give these a go next year. This year I only made a quilt, "Heaven and Nature Sing" that Pat Sloan featured on her channel and a table runner. They are gifts to my Mom's caretakers.

Of course! Old towels spring to mind - depending how thick they are maybe a couple layers?

Placemats and napkins (Help?)

I have a video from a month ago or so with placemats. Not done napkins myself, but I expect it’s a simple hemming job. I know loads of folk have done napkin tutorials - hopefully you can find a good one!
