I've found myself inundated with a large collection of fusible web backed scraps. To use them up, I introduce to you the quilted jellyfish! These jellyfish are made using raw edge applique and come together in just a few minutes. For reference, I made all five postcards shown here in less than an hour, including turning the applique jellyfish into the actual postcards. They're fast, fun, and turn out fantastic every time!

This postcard is beautiful--and if imitation is the highest form of flattery, I'll be flattering you alot. First, this design was terrific motivation to undertake this project. Thank you for this great inspiration. Second, I've made several postcards (to include your design) and want to share a couple of my observations from my experience. (1) you can skip the batting and quilt directly onto the timtex or other foundation. ( I found some Peltex at a good price, no fusible). I put fusible web on the back of my finished piece and fused it to the foundation to ensure no slipping while quilting as well as eliminate fraying of the background. I quilted right onto the Peltex. Though I have a working walking foot, none needed--the unit is bonded together, so it acts like a single v multi-layered unit; (2) You can use decorative stitches/thread to create the border as you stitch the card directly to the backing. I bought some 100lb card stock (4x6). (3) I experimented with gluing the card stock to the unit, and that adhered beautifully (strong like bull). I would not use on a lower lb stock, though. I also stitched directly to the card. I used a decorative stitch that also transferred to the card stock and made a beautiful frame on both the front and the back. I found no difference in unit stability. I like the look of the decorative stitching better, but it does not enclose the raw edge. (4) You could use 1/4" bias tape and bind the card as you would a quilt. Open up one side of the bias tape and stitch on the 1/4" line (working front to back or back to front at your option. Fold over to the other side and stitch. I would also note you could fuse it down. Thank you again for your great video on your technique and your impressive design inspiration.

amazing. I have kept a small box of fabric off cuts already with fusible on them thinking there must be something I can do with them. Now there is! Thank you

Can these actually go through the mail? I think my friends in Oregon would enjoy getting one, but I haven't tried making them yet.

These are all GORGEOUS!! I make small planner notebooks, and these would be wonderful to use as covers! Do you think they would accept a grommet or eyelet well, to add rings to hold paper? Or is it possible these could be folded in half to become both front and back cover with one unit?

So, just to clarify, do you just add regular paper (such as cardstock)?
@LadySilverSerenity
@LadySilverSerenity 3 года назад
Yep! Just regular old printer paper cut to 4" x 6". I have seen others use cardstock, or even solid fabric on the back. Up to you what effect you're going for! Edit: well apparently I replied logged into my personal account. Sorry!
