i would love to have a quince, but knowing my family can’t afford it makes me feel upset because it’s been my biggest dream since i was 5. I’m 13, but willing to save up for it. I think i can make it happen with a bit of courage and hope :)

I didn’t have a big quince I just had a party in my parents backyard. My mom made birria rice & beans and my tias made the sides like salads, etc. We got a cake for like $100 and rented like 6 tables with some chairs and bought some cheap flowers to put as centerpieces and my dad just plugged Pandora into a speaker but you can always get a DJ etc if it’s in the budget. My dress was a “prom” dress from Dillards

no you can do a small one where you live or at a local park, you can do all of the traditions but it doesn’t have to be expensive!

I am watching this to refresh my memory on what a traditional quince is like because my quince which was almost 4 years ago was more of a small event because that is how I wanted it and didn't want that much attention on myself. However I still wanted to do the ceremony, wear a nice dress, and have a simple party but at my house. if you’re worried about the dress being too expensive all you have to do is look in the right place. i went to a place before buying it and only the dress was 1,600, and i kept looking and we found it for 1,200 including everything in the package

Watching this I think back to when I was 15 and my quince and I just think about how me being self-conscious at the time got in the way of me enjoying the experience. I wish I had celebrated it with the friends I have now. Back then I didn't have that many friends, was more awkward and I was not as girly as I am now. It would be way more fun if I celebrate it now that I am 18 compared to back then lol.
