Love this, keep the GPT content coming please. Already using it for PowerApps functions, Power Automate expressions, Excel formulas and composing word documents. Great insight about massaging your queries. I've had great success with rephrasing and revising my questions until the output is right in line with what I need. Feels like a game changer.
I had already experimented a bit with ChatGPT, but thanks to you, I now also know that I can use this for power apps. Definitely keep making videos on this, I love your style!
WOOOOOOWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!! You have to do more vids with this, Shane - this is f******* ground-breaking!!! I'm blown away!!! Thanks so much for bringing this subject to me in the context or power apps. Does it work for power automate too as i would love to get more into writing expressions to flex my Flows more. I'd heard of ChatGPT as my wife uses it to generate blog posts for our holiday let, but i had no idea it could do this. Wonder what the pricing will be when it stops being free - i would happily pay quite a bit for such a powerful tool.
Thanks for this fantastic video. I tried a bit on ChatGPT after watching your video. It is so powerful. Please keep more GPT content, it is very interesting.
Hi Shane, fantastic video once again. I took up ChatGPT only last week to see what it is capable of and to see what it could do for me with PowerApps. I asked to write a step-by-step guide on creating a split button component and it did a great job, it did get a few things wrong but it got me most of the way there where I could adjust and play with the idea. The great thing about this is that it uses the previous information from that session to help build answers, so you can ask it to include more detailed code or correct it if starts to get off topic. Thanks a bunch for this as now I'll also be using it to comment my code :)
Remember your questioning strategy is the most important tool here and for that you need a basic understanding of what ever it is you are questioning and the normal language used for that particular topic..
Agree Stefan. The key is knowing enough to prompt the system. How much is enough depends on the topic I guess. Did you see Daniel's video where he has it write Python for him. He doesn't know Python I am pretty sure.
I discovered ChatGpt about 2 weeks ago and used it to help me unravel and understand the inner workings of Power Apps but I was only able to do this as I’m a subscriber to your curated content, which is v helpful in its own right. If not already done so, request your responses in tabular format……Looking forward to more content on the above…I’ll also give your buddy a look on his channel…
@@ShanesCows I'd asked it to build me a gallery filter function with only delegable functions that also only pulled in data within 1 month before and after today's date. It actually gave me the code which almost worked. Only issue was that operators like "&&", "=" were not delegable specifically with SQL date types. I ended up asking it how to create a calculated column in SQL converting my date type column to a new integer column. This ended up working and I was able to use the original functions it spat out for the gallery filter successfully. I will say, I went into this with 0 SQL experience and knowledge but I was able to get thing working properly after asking chatGPT a bunch of things. Side note, I tried to teach it that those operators weren't delegable for dates but after many iterations it got stuck giving me the same code. So it's not perfect, but it's certainly faster than trial and error along with 50 tabs open trying to google things.
yes amesome ! I've already been using it for the past weeks. Game changer ! Instead of searching through many website, forum and blog for an answer, it gives you right away the answer :)
This is fantastic, thanks Shane for sharing this content, I hope you keep on exploring chat GPT in Power Apps and Power Automate. Since the tool has no information after 2022, I wonder if the code it generates does not take advantage of new features and enhancements that have recently appeared. Anyway, as many say this is going to be very disruptive in many different fields.
I think you are exactly right, it doesn't know about new functions. Also, sometimes it answers the question with less than the ideal answer. In those cases I ask it to try again or write the formula differently to see if I can coax it into a better answer. It isn't perfect still.
Hi Shane, another cool video thanks - Did you know that if you use the GPT-3 Connector you can still do requests even though the Preview Chat is down? ;) Created an Outlook Mail Buttler and Excel loop to support me on a couple of tasks
I am not trying to sound melodramatic but the release of ChatGPT is momentous. Unlike nuclear fusion, AI is HERE!! Thank you Shane for your great video.
very cool shane, this is one of the solutions and our virtual teacher in the future. Today I was helped a lot by this chatgpt, it's really really cool.
This was helpful since it gave me immediate satisfaction and results to questions... simple thing was using odata filters in flow... or optimizing certain things or how to do things... very cool and very helpful... but you do need to check it. It gets things wrong..
This video is really helpful! I've been working on this PowerApp in which the users can ask questions on my app, the app then send their questions to ChatGPT and retrieve the answers and display the answers to my users. May I ask if it's possible to achieve this function via a custom connector?
I think it is still a great job market. Remember ChatGPT isn't building this app for you, it is just answering your questions and assisting you. If you learn to utilize to its full potential then you are a better Power Apps developer. 🥰 It isn't here to replace you, it is here to make you AWESOME!
I don't have an exact video on it but maybe this one will help. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YYizaX6gXW0.html I talk about how to filter data and find what options have been chosen. Good skills to understand better what you are trying to do.
I get that but I think of it the same way I think of Search. It isn't my answer but it is a step in the right direction to keep me moving. I wouldn't write it off, give it a look and see if you can find how it might best help you.
Ask it to use one row of data and spread it across multiple rows in the displayed table. You now, display a row like a form. BTW, your wrap count B answer appears to be wrong and yet CharGPT picked it. Just curious, how would you have optimized the last questions code? Replace the CountIf with a CountRows?
Hey Shane, Great Video. Have you tried repeating a question or problem and seeing if it gives you the same response or different responses? I would assume it would give the same response, but if it is considering the first question and it's response it may provide an alternative answer/solution. Things that make you go, hum?
Hey Seth. From practicing for the video I can confirm you can get absolutely different results depending on its mood and what other prompts you have fed into the conversation. You can also ask it to try again or suggest alternatives if you want to get a different answer. 🤯
I'm not a techie... Trying to extract a portion of mail body and share it as a message in Teams. Challenge i have is - unable to remove the info about From, To, Subject of mail
It gets overrun with traffic Ross. :( It took Nicola like 5 days to get in. The good news is they have added capacity and most people are able to get in on the first day now. I promise it will be worth the effort. :) Funny enough I tweeted yesterday when I got locked out because they were too busy. Made me sad. I am hopeful the paid version rolls out soon. Happy to pay for 100% access.
I agree. I love Chat GPT so much. I want to play with it all day. Did you see the follow up video where I add Bing Chat to the mix? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UFogZa-R2Bw.html
Literally no more reason to be good at anything anymore... :( this makes me sad that years of experience will soon be equal to someone who just started coding.
I dont' think so Hiram. Your experience will shine because you will know how to get better output faster than a newbie. :) My Thursday video will talk about this a bit but just think of ChatGPT as giving you super powers, not making you weak.
Can you please do a full video on connecting to the OpenAI API via PowerApps particularly the setting up process of the API. There's only one other video on RU-vid i've seen that shows how you can generate content using the "Completions" end-point with GPT-3 (because that's apparently all that's available). I've folllowed along with this video but have run into my own issues with my PowerApp becoming overloaded with requests i think it's due to either storing of the information in a Variable or the API used at setup. Here's the video please can you improve on this by creating some cool apps such as a ChatGPT experience or simply building different applications showcasing use case such as key phrase extraction, summarization, Lengthening paragraphs. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i00aS-v5Rsk.html&ab_channel=R2Power-LernPowerApps
Thanks for the idea. Not sure if that is too nerdy for me or not. I also shared the idea with www.youtube.com/@DoingItWithAI It is more in his ball park.
Thank you very much Shane. You have no idea how many people around the world have jobs thanks to your videos. I'm starting to work on a social project, that will teach power apps to young people and reduce youth unemployment thanks to you. Chewy would be proud 🥲
