Sorry for the glitches in the video :-(
Medical School has been one of the most challenging aspects of my life so far. While I can't sum up everything in 20mins here is a a small fraction of some of obstacles Ive faced while in school and ultimate the decision I had to make on whether or not Medical School was right for me.

i have been looking for a channel like yours for so long. i am too a single mother of a 2yr old, work full time and trying to finish undergrad at 26 then apply to a Physician Assistant program. I was pre pharm but decided to take another route. i know it may be hard but thanks for not giving up and keep going. i have struggled with not finsihing school when i was "suppose" to and be older than most classmates. Ive realized me being older and non traditional student only gave me more life experiences and etc. good luck to you

:-) AWW Im soo glad that you stumbled across my channel. Yasss, I struggled with the age/timing thing a lot in the past because sometime the "suppose" to time does not necessarily line up with our individual timing. Its awesome that you are working towards your goal of becoming a PA, best of luck to you along your journey, you're setting a great example of perseverance for you little one! And I definitely agree with you, life challenges build character that you cant get anywhere else! Thank you and best of luck to you as well!

NatualHoneyBee ❤️ thanks for watching my video!! it’s always good to know I’m not in this alone. Yes it is Hard AF lol I’m praying for great things for you on your end as well. I was literally just thinking the other day how it’s hard to be vulnerable but somebody has to take that leap so that others can learn or know who they can reach out to if they need help. But stay encouraged and I here if you need to have a few woo-sah moments 😅 because trust me I understand the struggle

SHAN. You are such a phenomenal woman. I admire your courage and willingness to share your story with others. I know your decision was tough, but it was made through maturity and wisdom and is helping to encourage others. It speaks volumes that even in your time “out of school” you are being this productive and service oriented. Serious kudos.

Awesome, I have a preteen as well 😄, schedules and alarms have been my best friend, I tend to forget stuff because I have people much stuff going on so it helps me stay on top of things, most of the time lol. Communicating with family members to help out with the kids when they can, even if I only get help once or twice a month it allows me time to do as much as I can

lol I i know right I had a malfunctioning alarm, batteries didnt even work :-/ but eventually my leasing office fixed the issue... but back to the meat of your comment lol my experience at Mercer probably very different than recent students (my group was there 1st graduating class program) they had alot of issues and not many resources, im sure the program is better now its been 6-7yrs . If you have any specific questions email me info@conceiveadream.org I can go into more detail for you!

Thank you for your story! I am currently 6 months pregnant and hope to start med school in the fall of next year. Sadly its looking like I will be a single mom in all of this and I'm very nervous about starting medschool with a 1 year old. Do you think it is possible or should I wait? I am also 29 years old and will be starting med school at 30

I want to pursue but am so worried about finances and my poor credit. Do you work during your program? If so how is it? If not, do you survive off loans?

Working is high discouraged by most programs but I know students who have worked. I even tried it but for me it was a disaster lol so its definitely person dependent and probably should be something thats very light work

What was your GPA when u we're accepted into Med School? What was your MCAT score? Do post back programs really boost your chances of getting in. I'm thinking that I have to major in bio chemistry to make it in. Yes, I am a single mother of a 8 month old. Also, I am a undergrad .You should make a video on how to retain a lot of material.
@dREAMwShan
@dREAMwShan 4 года назад
Ooh I honestly it’s been almost 10 yrs so really don’t remember my undergrad gpa but it wasn’t competitive, I think I took the newer mcat version in 2015; I was above 500. I cant say if post baccs boost your chance it’s depends on the school you’re interested, but I think doing well in post bac or masters can show academic growth if you didn’t do that well in undergrad but I definitely suggest asking schools you would like to apply to their thoughts on post baccs so you’re not wasting time/money doing a program they don’t recommend. Aww 8 months I beat your lo is on the move I can’t wait till my lo is moving. I wish I had typical study regimen to share but with ADD, 2 kids and tons of other obligations I honest never study the same I just do what work at the time (read textbook, watch RU-vid videos; etc)

Thank you for your not only informational video, but inspirational video! I am a single mom of a 3 1/2 year old and have made the decision to finally apply to medical school. I am currently studying for the MCAT which is challenging since I am now 34 and have been out of school for over 10 years. (I am a high school math teacher, working full time..) Can you tell me what medical school you go to? Thanks again for sharing your story!
