The check engine light came on in Woman Skaggs 2017 Infiniti QX60. I whipped out the X-Tool Diagnostic Scan Tool to find the problem and read the code. The result was a P0017-Crankshaft Position Sensor B1 Sensor B. I really like the X-Tool scanner. It gives you far more information than your basic handheld scanner. Armed with this information, I was able to order the part I needed and easily replace the sensor.
I do my best to give you a quick look of how I used the X-Tool and what's involved in replacing the sensor on these QX60/JX35 SUV's.
Hope you find this video helpful. If you did, please tap that like button, subscribe if you haven't already and please share!
Thanks, Skagg Out!...

My 2017 QX60 is kicking back the same error code and making the same horrible sound. Took it to the dealer and they said the engine needs to be replaced. Had bought an extended warranty but they’re saying the warranty was cancelled for early pay off but we’re still paying on it so that’s a whole other ordeal we have to settle 😢

Sorry to hear that! I'm curious about the extended warranty issue. Ours ran out before that issue cropped up. Opted to repair at a nissan infiniti specialist, but the parts were on backorder for weeks, so we sold the vehicle.

At the end of the video, there is a noise that the engine is making, did you ever find the reason for it was? I thought the chain tensioner most likely, but interesting to find out what your thoughts are? Thank you in advance.

The crankshaft position sensor code cleared, but the noise persisted off and on still. Infiniti says new cam sprockets, chains, tensioner, and guides at roughly $8500 + the "while you're in there water pump etc. My Nissan / Infiniti specialist says "it's the high pressure fuel pump, no rebuilding this. You should replace the engine." Recommended a JDM replacement, not one sourced in the US. I haven't decided yet 😕 😪 Thanks for watching though! 👍🏼

Also my Infiniti specialist said it's not common, but he's seen it a few times.

Make a video about the variable valve timing solenoid please I can’t find it on my qx60 and it needs to be replaced

I wish I could 😪. I wound up getting rid of the QX60 because of major valve train issues... Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the video. Where is the other cam sensor? I am getting a P0345 Sensor "A". Looks like you did the "B". I'm hearing you should replace both at the same time to be safe.

Thanks for watching! The code I had was P0017 crank position sensor, not the camshaft position sensor code. So honestly, I didn't have a reason to locate the camshaft sensors at the time. P0345 is the camshaft (which you probably already know), the sensors are in the valve covers on the transmission side of the engine if I'm not mistaken...(don't hold me to it though 😒)

P0011? U know what that is? Qx60 2020

Camshaft position sensor over advanced. Has to do with the cam phasers. I've read that the code comes and goes, but it's definitely a timing issue. Whether it's the chain guides or the phasers or solenoid are sludged up, it's not good.

Did that part give you any problems?! I want to replace mines but everybody keep saying only use dealer parts and Infiniti want 250 compared to advance auto they want 90 bucks

I can't report on that, unfortunately. The rattling you hear at the end of the video was a timing guide, tensioner, and sprocket issues. Parts from nissan were on backorder, and we wound up getting rid of it 😢.

so I have the same problem. I started complaining about my engine when it was 3 years old (its 5 years old now). They replaced some things, took it back, programmed some things, still not running right, and brought it back(this time 4,000 miles out of warranty) NOW they know exactly what's wrong and it's $10,000 to repair!!! I'm wondering if this is a problem they already knew about and are refusing to do a recall on it because they know it will fail at or close to the warranty expiration. So they screw with it, make like it's okay (even though it still runs like crap), and they milk it until the warranty runs out so they can nail you with the repair. I feel played. FREAKIN INFINITI! DITCHIN' - ACURA is FAR superior. I cannot believe I paid so much for a piece of crap. 5 years! really???? I get 15 YEARS (with 200K+ miles) out of HONDA's!!!

Your story is so hitting home with me! After 3 Infiniti vehicles in the family fleet in the past, I get this problem child.... 😮‍💨😔 Will be posting a resolution update on this soon! Thanks for watching !

OMGosh!! I have a 2107 QX60 with this exact problem. They wanted $9,00, to repair it. So the QX60 engine is a ball of crap?!?!

Did this solve the problem though? That code indicates a number of things that could be wrong.
@SkaggsGarage

That code, yes. But the poor old QX is having issues bigger than what I want to tackle. Started throwing VVT codes.... Haven't decided on what I'm going to do yet.

@Skagg's Garage sludge in there? I have one that's sludged up some, going to try a flush and pray before buying a new engine.
@SkaggsGarage
@SkaggsGarage Год назад
@dez white no sludge, regular oil changes etc. MY Nissan Infiniti specialist says it happens with these models. He's suggesting a new engine, but he doesn't install domestic engines. He only installs JDM imported units.
