This reminds me last fall I was starting up 2 carrier splits,410a,micro channel condenser with txvs. charge was weighed in and I could not get more than 2 degrees superheat. Took charge out,check for proper air flow and duct sizing,nothing worked. I was told that new units with micro channels run with small superheat numbers for effiency reasons and you wont get 8 to 12 degrees superheat like older units. What have you heard about this?
@acservicetechchannel
@acservicetechchannel 7 лет назад
These units all want to be charged using each manufacturer's instructions using vapor pressure, high pressure, high pressure line actual temp using charts, or subcooling by itself. What was the model # of the units? I am wondering if they have an accumulator and I am assuming you were charging with subcooling with a txv but just checking the superheat for safety for the compressor. Thanks
@capitolrefrigerationheatin7501
The subcooling was correct according to manufactures specs.I was thinking about adding an accumulator. I was thinking txv was not feeding properly,I know carrier had the problem with the rust inhibitor used in production was causing issues with txvs and had a massive recall. It was weird with the low superheat though.

I got an r22 unit that when filling the high side will not get above 100 psi but low side is looking around normal at 70psi.. filling took waaaay to long.. like 4 hours for 6 lbs.. i replaced the filter and repaired a blow out at the compressor and drained and repkaced the oil with recommended stuff.. dunno whats up. Im a newbi on heatpumps..

I recently had a low suction and low discharge pressure. Superheat was 10 F and subcooling was way up there at 27 F. I had 64F on return and 44F at supply. filter was clean. TXV bulb was mounted and insulated. I didnt find a temp difference at filter drier. It was a 2 story house and had only 2 returns on main level. I suspect it needs a return on 2nd floor.
@acservicetechchannel
@acservicetechchannel 7 лет назад
What were the pressures and refrigerant type? Also you said it was low suction and discharge. Was it a low temp outside? You already hit part of it right on the head since the return temp was so low. That low of a return temp would put the sat temp on the coil very low.
@johncote2776
@johncote2776 7 лет назад
it was a bit below 65 outside. Odd weather in Colorado for June..All week was 90. It was 410A. Suction pressure was a bit above 50 and discharge a bit above 120

Ive got an R22 system that has 55 degree air coming out of the vents. Low side pressure of 70psig high side pressure of 170psig. I feel like the high side is too low. 85 degree day outside.

I was charging a unit which iam going back sometime this week , I couldn't get the head pressure up as well as the low side ive already cleaned the a coil and the blowerfan motor didn't do a delta t, I suspecting its going to be the orfice I added quite of bit of Freon I should stop a coulple pounds lol live and learn , but now that I think I did raise the head pressure but not the low side
@acservicetechchannel
@acservicetechchannel 7 лет назад
Definitely check the subcooling and superheat as well as the delta t. You may be right with the liquid line restriction but it could also be a clogged evap coil or some other airflow restriction. Check the videos out with the pictures of the gauge sets that say low pressure or superheat on them- ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lpHpfCEq8IY.html

0 psi ant temp on high side, 1230 on low side? bad compressor?
@jvic54
@jvic54 6 лет назад
The blue side reads 226 psi, the red reads 75 for r410a (pink), my outdoor temperature on the Liquid line is 82 degrees. My unit requires 14 degrees subcooling. What could be wrong with my unit? Freon was recently added to my unit by a service tech.
@acservicetechchannel
@acservicetechchannel 6 лет назад
The blue side 226 pressure seems way too high, thanks
@brianellsworth4767
@brianellsworth4767 7 лет назад
The super heat is expected to be high with a restriction or low charge..Low super heat is a low load condition such as dirty filter bad duct design , plugged coil dirt..etc. You could have both problems on old systems hat had not been checked for years.
@acservicetechchannel
@acservicetechchannel 7 лет назад
Yes absolutely. I was going to touch on the differences in an upcoming video, right on the money, thanks!

I replaced my piston # 59 I also have filter drier but forgot recovery machine and couldn't replace due to being inside condenser so while pumped down couldn't do but the first time I tried pumping down it did nothing the second time after closing the high side both sides came down at the same time ?? Compressor issue / I checked everything you asked me to last time and I couldn't find any restrictions in the ductwork and coils clean / also have liquid Refridgerant in low side when hooking gauges up
@acservicetechchannel
@acservicetechchannel 7 лет назад
I'm sorry, Matthew are you talking about the unit that you said has 14-17 degrees of subcooling or the one with what you said you think is negative -45 degrees of subcooling?
@mattzurzola4664
@mattzurzola4664 7 лет назад
acservicetech no this is the one at my House and you told me to check all the things in this video firstThe saturation temperature was below freezing with the correct superheat but I noticed the other day I was having trouble pumping down the refrigerant into the condenser it took a couple times so I don't know if a bad compressor can give you the symptoms in this video
@acservicetechchannel
@acservicetechchannel 7 лет назад
Both sides will come down because the hoses are attached to your lineset with the liquid line closed. That is fine. I think I was saying you are looking at an airflow issue on this one and not a liquid line restriction. I think you are referring to the thermostatic expansion valve video I put out recently and the comments on that one. I don't have any threads from you previously on this video. Thanks Matthew
@mattzurzola4664
@mattzurzola4664 7 лет назад
Yes but I couldn't find any issues with the the evaporator being dirty the only thing I haven't checked was the blower motor yetI looked at it the other day and it is dirty I'm gonna clean it when I get a chance I just noticed with the pump down the first time I tried it wouldn't pump down and also I had liquid refrigerant in my low side when I hook my gauges up and I've never had that issue before

I had a r22 system that showed like 20 degrees in suction side and 200psig on high side. what could that be? I tried adding some to see if it did anything. suction side went up and then dropped immediately. high side didn't move the whole time.
@acservicetechchannel
@acservicetechchannel 7 лет назад
What was superheat, subcooling before and after charging? What was outside and inside temp along with wb inside. Piston or orifice? thanks Sounds like you didn't have enough heat to absorb on the evap coil. How was airflow?
@brandrushkurukshetraharyan4410
It means this system is choke or capillary or expention valve is blocked
@TruckDriver326

how would this work on refrigerator trailer commercial truck trailers
@whitesheatingairappliancer7101
Anthony Johnson I think the refrigeration system on a commercial vehicles, the charge is weighed in. So I would recommend buying coil cleaner and clean your coils.
@acservicetechchannel
@acservicetechchannel 7 лет назад
Yes Ron is right, you would weigh in on packaged rerigerators and even split ones. You could use the liquid line sight if equipped when the receiver is drained at full load to determine if you have a steady stream of liquid present. Thanks
