If you get injured while committing a crime against someone you can't sue that person. That's not how the law works. I live in Canada. My little dog and I were viciously attacked by a much bigger dog. She had to get five surgeries an artificial buttholes so she could go to the bathroom like a regular dog and I had 178 stitches all over my throat and upper body. The guy whose dog attacked me tried to sue me for the replacement of his dog because his dog had been put down and harassment because I called five times to ask him to pay the vet bill. So I had to counter sue him for the cost of Lilly's vet treatment my pain and suffering the cost to fix my car door cuz the dog attacked us while I was getting out of the car. When we went to court the judge told him that's not how the law Works in Canada. You can't break the law and then sue people for the damages you concur while breaking the law. So just like that dick head couldn't sue me the lunch Thief can't sue Op because his lunch was spicy

Going through that first story, with how many times he didn't answer his phone, I was thinking the exact same thing. I wasn't even thinking about his request for a paternity test, but when you brought it up, it clicked even more. And I do agree with the sister-in-law that, while the brother's prank might have been too far, the husband deserved it, as SHE ALMOST DIED because he didn't answer his phone. And when you brought up the paternity test, it reminded me of a Pro Revenge story you did some time ago where a guy left to study abroad, and his girlfriend (the OP of the story) found out she was pregnant. The guy started to accuse her of cheating, and demanded a paternity test, and then again after the baby was born, only to prove the kid was his. Then, when OP took a care package to his dorm (which had his new passport), she found him with another woman. So, yeah. If someone is really pushy for a paternity test, it may just be self projection.

@@SkunkApe407 I’m sorry, but if your pregnant wife calls you 16 times, you should get the hint that it’s something important. I mean, I get anxious if I have 3 missed calls. I’d be super scared to see 16 MISSED CALLS on my phone. Plus the paternity test, according to OP (who is an indoor person, who doesn’t have any male friends), was completely out of the blue: IMO the dad was getting cold feet on becoming a father. I’m sorry, but I just don’t agree with you.
@ivilrat
@ivilrat 2 года назад
I think the most heartbreaking part of the first story is that OP didn't necessarily even WANT kids. She went through this traumatic experience and her husband only cared because he thought she died. I also agree that the paternity test feels like projection because, again, she wanted MAYBE one child, if any, so why would she cheat and have unprotected sex? I also doubt that he would stay with her even if he went with her, because OP said he wanted a big family, and she got a hysterectomy. I feel terrible for OP and i hope her divorce goes well.
@SkunkApe407
@SkunkApe407 2 года назад
The fact that she stormed off over a reasonable request only serves to make her seem guilty. Her doing that may have convinced him that the kid isn't his. And seeing as she threw a fit over the first request for paternity, I doubt he's going to ask her again. Had she simply agreed to the paternity test, this whole scenario might have played out differently. Keep in mind that we only have OP's side of things, so it is quite possible that we are hearing a heavily biased or fabricated account.

@MyFiddlePlayer
@MyFiddlePlayer 2 года назад
There was a detail that puzzled me greatly from the first story: she only knows 2 phone numbers, her husband's and her brother's? Probably not, so why is she so psychologically dependent on him that she can't go to the hospital without him, or at least without his permission, and instead sits and waits for hours at home while she gets further and further into trouble medically? Can't call a neighbor? Can't call 911? No wonder she is having trouble leaving such an obvious cheater/abuser, she has been manipulated into a state of learned helplessness. Glad she is getting therapy (one of the lines Dabney didn't read) but I wonder if its effective therapy because it didn't get her out of this relationship fast enough.
@SkunkApe407
@SkunkApe407 2 года назад
@@MyFiddlePlayer while you make an interesting point, we have zero proof that her husband is in any way abusive. Keep in mind that very few people will tell a story that makes them look bad in any light. It is just as likely that she is exaggerating or omitting details to paint herself in a more favorable manner. Remember, her response to a request for paternity was to run off. That isn't exactly the kind of thing an innocent person does. If the kid actually is his, why not just take the test and alleviate his concerns?
@badcreations9527
@badcreations9527 2 года назад
@@SkunkApe407 he accused her of cheating out of the blue. OP says she’s a homebody with practically no male connections other than her husband and brother. If you ask your partner for a paternity test out of the blue, it means that they don’t trust you which is a HUGE problem. And let’s say there is more to the picture than we know. OP’s husband ignoring her call for 10 HOURS when she could go into labor any day is wrong, no matter what problems your relationship is facing. He was called a total of 22 times, and ignored them all. He should at least picked up one of the calls to see what she wanted whether he was angry or not

The ADA is actually surprisingly violated quite frequently in businesses across the US. My friend is a vet tech who has PTSD and now she has some neurological condition, the job manager who is a complete buffoon, took her off full time to like 15 hours per week because he needed to see proof of her condition and couldn’t allow someone who was an R word to continue to work there.. there are so many abuses of the ADA that she has endured that she’s spoken to a lawyer as well, and they said “yeah this is an easy win if you want to take it to court”. The manager has since put her back on at least 24 hours of work a week, since her lawyer sent a letter to them reminding them that they have to follow the ADA and not discriminate against people with disabilities, and on top of all of that; she’s a veteran too, which is even more in her favor.
@unclebozo9845
@unclebozo9845 2 года назад
It seems like the ADA is only ever taken seriously when at least one veteran is involved...
@LilChuunosuke
@LilChuunosuke 2 года назад
Yeah, I think one issue is that the ADA is only upheld if the victim of the ablistic abuse proves to the people discriminating against them that they have enough money to afford a lawyer. A lot of disabled people are poor and they know that. So they assume the people they abuse cannot *afford* to stop them.

Flagrantly so, in some cases. My aunt has type 1 diabetes, and has to check her blood sugar frequently and occasionally self-administer subcutaneous insulin injections. One job interview she was on, the guy straight up ended the interview when he found out, saying "I don't care the reason, we don't want anyone bringing needles into the workplace." She tried to invoke the ADA but he just laughed and said "We have a legal team and you're unemployed looking for a job. Good luck with that." She found a lawyer willing to take the case pro-bono, but the guy just straight up lied under oath and said the hiring decision was based on her hostile attitude, and he was completely unaware that she was diabetic. The case got thrown out.

Oh the beauty of HR stupidity! I have a seizure condition now, permanent, from a lovely IED party some fella’s overseas we’re having. I had to retire, Lt. Col., because of those silly prankster’s (read with sarcasm and a bit of rage). I have a Law Degree, passed the bar and everything, all while holding my position with the military. I recovered from all injuries and started interviewing with different companies that fit my knowledge and experience (52f). All were ready to hire me straight away until I brought up the seizure issue. Well controlled with medication but you never know when one may just want to break free and party with your body. I was turned down by all once they were told. I’m a liability to their company. My old team and I all got together and started our fun. We started our own company, competitors with the places that turned us all down. We are swamped with work! One of those companies told a client, that was leaving them for us, about some of our “issues”! Uh-oh! We are done with the litigation on that bad boy and sitting pretty. We hire civilians for office work but we’re mainly all veterans or former LE in the field. The ADA is the most abused law by employers. Oh and we don’t need to work, we just didn’t feel like sitting at home knitting knickers. We WANT to work and only hire others with the same mentality.

I have a small service dog. I pass out at random due to some health issues I have, my terrier mutt mix has been trained to tell me when I'm about to pass out so I can sit. Then if I do pass out he is trained to go find my mom or my husband (whoever im out with at the time I never go out without someone my dog knows well enough to task with) and bark like crazy, then lead them back to me. Once he leads them back he stands by me and guards my face until help arrives. Once help gets there he will go with the other person with me, but until he sees uniform he won't leave my side. Though these rooms really have been pretty much "'Murica"-exclusive thing to begin with ( aside of course for the hospitals heavily influenced by USA-Marine-Bases and so on like say in Japan, at least if media like "A Couple of Cuckoos / Cuckoo's Fiancee" is to be believed ). EDIT: Oh yes indeed, re-read the "Why Hospitals Started Displaying Newborn Babies Through Windows - How peering at babies through glass became a feel-good staple of American maternity wards"-article again and these rooms indeed were primarily a "'Murica'-thing to begin with and indeed for sake of "feel-good"-morale-booster especially for "baby-booming" and such. Otherwise generally speaking, especially in hospitals build since 1960's, there tends to be enough room for both parents and their baby-child to reside within ( at least that is the case with my local-city-hospital in Salo-Finland that was opened in year-1961; I personally had to reside in a blue-light-isolette for awhile since had a high level of bilirubin alongside slight oxygen-deprivation due the prolonged labour due me having larger head than me mom's pelvis or something-like-that-I-cannot-recall-the-terms ). ---

I'm also disabled and have looked at getting a service animal (i only mention it because it ties into why i care so much about service animals lol, unfortunately I really dont like large dogs and for my needs it would have to be a big boi/girl) and the absolute DISBELIEF i had that HR in the 2nd story so blatantly disregarded the ADA. Listen, you shouldn't disobey any laws involving employees. Its a reeaaally good way to pay a shit ton of money in fees. But one you really DONT want to fight is the ADA. Thats common sense! One, thats just a dick move. Two, the fees are absurd and you WILL lose. The ADA is very serious. Three, the court of public opinion would have a field day if found out an employer violated the ADA purely because a dog wasn't "big enough". Service dogs have a shit ton of protections (which a lot of people abuse who dont actually have a service dog which messes with the perception of service animals) and you have to be VERY careful with the way things are worded and asked specifically about the animal. I'd be surprised if most of the HR in that story wasn't fired.

For the first story, I absolutely agree that OP's soon to be ex husband might have been cheating on her, because there's no other reason why I can think of why one would ignore sixteen phone calls from their third trimester pregnant spouse. Even if he's not, he's a total, 5/5 asshole for ignoring so many calls and asking for a paternity test. Furthermore, this man is so self-centered that he had the audacity to ask why his one other phone call back to his wife's phone wasn't answered. This man is looking for a way out of his relationship, and now he's found one in the worst kind of way. The custody hearing is going to get ugly. Third story - I'm reminded of a story rSlash read when a poster dealt with a lunch thief by making ghost pepper chili for lunch and put in the fridge. Sure enough, the thief ate it, got sick. Just like in the story in this video, OP did not offer their lunch to the other person, which means that they were not enticed into eating it. What makes this case unusual is the fact that the HR department tried to railroad OP, which would have no legal standing given the circumstances. Regardless, it's refreshing to see a boss actually do the right thing.

If he said its for medical reasons (family history of a condition) or to prevent the child from being swapped in the hospital then its fine... But the guy was starting something when he stated his reasoning for getting a dna test... One important part of relationships is trust, and what the guy did implies he dont trust his wife... His mother and HIM tried telling her that she needed to cut off her brother. Who was a huge person of support and stuff for her. I feel like all of this was part of some big plot to try getting OP isolated from her family. We had a story a while back where, after the birth of OPs first child. The husband had them all move out into a farm in the middle of no where. And than they basically made it near impossible for her to leave and just, trapped her there. Saying she was only to be a house wife and not get an actual job. Becoming completely dependent on her husband. I say OP in that first story dodged a HUGE bullet... Service dog story: To the best of my knowledge, there is no size/breed requirements for service dogs, though I will say that having one so small is unusual. Unfortunately, despite all the training a service dog must have, there is no official licensing that must be recognized in the US which makes situations like this too common. Spicy food story: OP, I'm sorry you had to go thru that, but at least it worked out well for you. I simply don't understand food thieves, they don't KNOW what they're about to eat and it could contain an allergen they're unaware of. The hot & spicy aspect is also something to think about. After a week I ended up needing to get rushed to the ER by my dad in the middle of the night for a severe asthma attack. You are spot-on. I had caught my husband cheating after my first child was born. Unfortunately, when I went to my doctor to discuss contraceptives after that birth, I discovered that I was already pregnant with #2. Fast forward to labor starting on my youngest - hubby was MIA, so my mom drove me to the hospital. Hubby was a deputy, and used his job having crazy hours to hide his affairs. That is how I confirmed his second affair - he completely missed the birth. I knew the marriage was over, I simply needed time to save enough up to be able to afford to leave his sorry carcass. By the time that happened, over a year later, he was on mistress #3. Once the divorce was final, he ghosted us. That was many decades ago. He is currently married to wife #4. I think the only reason this marriage is successful is that age has slowed him down. Or he met a woman who has him firmly under her thumb…? Anyway, if hubby isn’t a plane ride away when the contractions begin, and still manages to miss the birth, he is likely cheating on you.

If my supervisor is to be believed, you can get into some real hot water legally if you deny someone who needs a service animal access or deprive them of their service animal and something happens.

Service dog story: CEO said, "Couldn't you just get a bigger dog?" That's insane...all dogs are wonderful in their way, but not all dogs are cut out to be service dogs. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that many of the dogs who begin the training to become service dogs don't make it to actually becoming a service dog. "Just get another dog?" Why not say, "Just keep panning; you surely will strike gold AGAIN." I had a friend in high school who had a hearing ear dog - a Jack Russell terrier. Seizure alert dogs always fascinated me with their ability to sense an oncoming seizure in their person. Those are two functions where, thankfully, the pool of available dogs is not limited to large breeds. The OP in this story might want to consider new employment; I'd feel uneasy working for such ignorant people.

You are correct, the failure rate for service dog candidates can be quite high. That's NOT an insult to those that wash out, they're still some of the smartest and most loyal dogs out there, they often just tend to have trouble being motivated or focused in most cases. Having a service dog washout as a pet is not a bad thing at all. You're also correct on the costs (striking gold), they depend a lot on what the pup is ultimately trained to do. Seeing eye dogs, for example, require some of the most expensive training and tend to start around $40K last I looked, but who knows what prices are like these days. In our case, and with all folks we've talked to, insurance was less than useless for covering a service dog and most charitable organizations won't help individual people, they'd rather help groups and other organizations so they can have their photo ops and make a show of helping "many people" so they focus their money that way. Headlines like "local charity helps disabled vets" and "local social club gives child their life back" get better clout than "local charity helps local epileptic or diabetic". To be fair, in our case a service dog was not "necessary", but he's made a HUGE difference in our lives. Before we got him I was literally afraid to sleep because I didn't want to miss it if my wife had a potentially life-threatening episode and I could help her through it. Now, her service dog will wake her if he can and then wake me if she's unresponsive. It took several years to raise the deposit for him, but it was worth it.
