Not really. Racism is a relatively new concept. Oppression, colonization, slavery, and imperialism far outdate white people doing them, but racism didn't exist until we got a concept of race, which didn't exist until Europeans decided that other people were inherently less than them. @@zawadlttvok so one side sold people into slavery because they were prisoners of war, and the other did it because they were black. And you’re saying we can’t tell which side is the racist side because of that? 😂🤦🏻♂️
no its not, theres historical and sociological reasoning to it, its not an assumption but a fact. White people are the original colonisers and have colonised most of the world, society is built upon systemic racism, meaning a race is superior which is white. I am not this 'woke' person its just a fact and quite real and logical. Obviously, not all white people are racist. Every minority can be racist to each other as well.
Racism is only done to a minority. If the recipient of racially based hateful remarks and they are a majority then it is prejudice. In America you can't be racist to white people in Africa you can't be racist to black people but you can be racist towards white people (like in South Africa, if you are a tourist then it's more just you are American though that is still racism technically)
Well, what they actually believe is that you can't be racist toward a group with hegemonic power, because racism = prejudice + power. So if you're in a country where white people aren't the dominant power group then you can in fact be racist against white people, even according to people who subscribe to that definition of racism. (To be clear, I'm playing devil's advocate here, I think the prejudice + power definition of racism is incredibly stupid. Simply making a distinction between racism and systemic racism makes far more sense than trying to claim that political minorities can't be racist.)
Well, actually you can't be racist towards white people, just like you can't be straightphobic, cause both didn't have anything to fight for, they're just born with privilege (unless they're Muslim or Jewish)

Yeah sure live by the definition. But really, a black person being racist to white people does not nearly have the same weight white to black, as it’s not reinforced by hundreds of years of discrimination, inequality, and only a century and a half ago, slavery. Sure, it can be qualified as “racist,” but it’s not something that reinforces an idea that actively harms white people eervy day. White people get better conditions across the board. @@NmdAura Colonizing as a concept... establishing new homes in other lands... is not horrible. In practice, it forced native inhabitants of colonized lands out, led to breakdown of cultural practices and customs deemed by colonizers as "uncivilized," and propagated flaws just as well as strengths of the colonizers' civilizations while throwing out potentially good substitute systems occupied lands had to offer. Colonization in practice tends to impose culture on the occupied area. Very few exceptions exist, with the first I can think of being Rome, its success much of which can be attributed to their policy of allowing occupied lands to maintain culture.
