Anyway, Michael King Sr. visited Germany in 1934 and became fascinated with Martin Luther, prompting him to adopt the name as a symbol of powerful protest. Anyway, very good year to visit Germany for reasons that are very unrelated to the NAZIS. King Jr. later adopted the name from his father who had also been a pastor and organized civil rights protests.

Something like this actually almost escaped my mouth while I was giving a science presentation one day. I was reading a slide & our group was talking about how gravity affects objects of different matter in a similar way or smth like that. I was talking about how if you throw a disk it’ll look like it’s going straight but gravity is actually causing it to curve. I said something along the lines of, “If you throw a disk it may seem like it’s going straight forward but gravity is actually causing it to g- (Having started a word with the letter g I realized what was gonna come out my mouth was not the word curve) gravitate or move towards the earth’s surface” I don’t think anyone noticed but I panicked so hard

I really wish the authorities in Russia treated mental health issues more seriously too. If you come to your boss and ask for some time off because you're severely depressed or stressed out, you'll be laughed at even if you have all the documents proving your status and need for medical treatment. This is really sad that we're so far behind in this sphere. P.S. and getting the medical treatment itself is a huge pain in the buttocks too in smaller cities/towns/villages/etc.

IIRC once someone spilt some of one of the chemicals in a laboratory and everyone in a large area thought they had a gas leak. Also I don't think it's to stop people from lighting a flame as said in the video, but rather so they know they have a gas leak/don't leave the gas on.

Wish I had your teacher. My 5th grade one accused me of being racist when I told my friend, "lets not waste our time with people like them." I admit it seemed racist, but I meant it in the way that they were bullies and trying to be mean to me, while trying to split me and my friend apart by being nice to her. @@Blazesoldier there are 2 types and I think it goes like this Type 1=hyper, can’t focus on 1 task for too long and usually get distracted by things happening around them Type 2=Not very attentive you don’t focus on anything, much more calm usually lazy, day dream more and stuff.

@6 i think it's just that some accents sound goofier than others. for example: a Scottish person will generally be pretty funny by just speaking in a Scottish accent. same for Russian accents. this causes people to judge them incorrectly and assume they're less intelligent (i don't know if less intelligent is what he meant im not English). in this exact way you could assume im an idiot because i may have a Dutch accent. in this case, you would be absolutely correct, but i can fool you into thinking otherwise by taking time to think before i type and checking for grammatical errors.

I had severe anorexia for 6 years and went days without consuming any food or water. I periods, for weeks/months I refused to eat by mouth and only got tube fed medical nutrition formula. Still had ADHD-symptoms the entire time.

I've been trying to get ADHD meds, but for some reason, Medicare won't cover stimulants for patients ages 19 and older. It's like they think only kids can have ADHD or something. Smh

Ohio is actually much more moderate than you might think, hence why that amendment passed by such a large margin. The only reason our state government is so republican is because of gerrymandering that almost certainly violates the constitution (according to Ohio’s Supreme Court). Yeah I used to love reading as a kid. Specifically books in English which is not even my first language, I’m Norwegian so English is only my second language. at age 10 I was reading English books at a level you’ll expect from someone age 14+ in Norway. And now I’m a burnt out 21 year old that hasn’t finished a full book since I was 16 and have no motivation nor the attention span to read anything at all with more than a couple pages.

I was reading at Winnie the Pooh level by the time I started school three months before my 5th birthday . Then I was exposed to the horror of Janet and John. Brits of the post-war generation will know what I mean.

Tbh I don’t think I’ve actually heard of ADHD genuinely fading over time despite what everyone seems to claim. Anyone I know who has it either has just gotten better at masking it or it’s actively gotten worse.

My grandmother forced me to go to a babyshower for someone I have never met before a couple of days ago. I was really uncomfortable and having a melt down and panic attack (I have adhd and autism). She told me "just turn it off" and that fueled my panic attack even more. I've always been her least favorite but it was really upsetting.

Even if we were still just kids, I think I was only a year older than her, I picked up on the intended humiliation coming from this momster. I havent seen this girl since I was 15, I really hope shes doing good now and has somehow gained healthy self-esteem. They had all sorts of weird rules at their house, like walking on carpets was a no no, you needed to walk on the hardwood floors at all times, dodging the precious carpets (we take our shoes off at the door in Finland, it makes it just bit more.. out there..) If we broke something accidentally, my friend panicked so badly she always started to shake and cry, while I tried to console her, even if I really didnt understand what the problem was. FYI: "mean" and "median" aren't the same thing. Jeff Bezos walks into the room, and the mean income of every person in the room skyrockets … but the median income only moves a bit, it may not move at all. "mean" == the average "median" == middle of the distribution == "Sort 'em all, then find the one at the middle of the (sorted) list. That's the median value." The median is a _much_ better measure of central tendency when you're dealing with widely scattered values or with values that have a built in constraint.

CSA rarely happens just once. It often goes on over months and even years, while the abuser is grooming/manipulating the child into thinking that this activity that's hurting them was "normal".

Science moves on, but Creationism is stuck in the past, and does not change it's doctrine. However wrong it is, it will forever remain, but science is consistently improving, and becoming more accurate over time.

I remember learning about map projections in school, and how _every_ projection involves trading one kind (and amount) of distortion for another. I no longer remember the names of them, but I certainly remember the principles!

I started reading at 3, and my kid at 2. When they were in their car seat in the back seat I would recite each page of their book and they would turn the pages as I "read" each page to them. We originally thought they just had the books memorized too, until they said they wanted granpa to get them some Carl's Jur. They didn't know about abbreviations and had tried to sound out Jr.

I didn't want to learn to read, so I didn't until I was 6. I wanted to play some kind of videogame with my parents, I think it was heros of might and magic? Or maybe it was everquest. Anyway they said I needed to read in order to play. So I buckled down and learned it. By the next year I was voraciously devouring book after book. Kindergarten insinuated that I had a learning disability, but no it was just a lack of motivation.

When I started school I already knew how to read etc but the teacher called my parents in to tell them I didn't know my colours.. turns out I was so bored of them trying to teach me something I deemed to be so obvious and simple I was deliberately saying the wrong thing when asked. Oops

I don't have any interesting story about it, but i also started to read at 4. I think children can learn to read just after learning to speak.

I also used to read to other kids in kindergarten. Apparently I kept annoying my parents to read things out to me, until they were like "you know the alphabet, read yourself", and so I just did. Leading to me annoying the staff at kindergarten by reading the post-its they used among themselves and asking questions about them, like "why should you use the milk in the upper shelf first?"

Ive read books since I was 6, and I can honestly say I cant remember reading about sparkles and/or unicorns even once. Unless there was some in 1001 nights, I read it when I was 8, which was 38 years ago, so maybe Ill get a pass on that. But its always lovely when someone makes assumptions that everybody must be like them, makes it easier to spot the idiots.

Diet does have an impact on concentration but this is common to everybody and won’t cure ADHD because you can’t really cure a neurological problem.

For me, the executive problems mean that I have a hard time choosing what to eat, so sometimes I put off eating until next morning, or something. But that's ADHD affecting diet, not the other way around. Someone needs to make these people recite 'correlation is not causation' for the next infinity.

Just as a general question without any implication, are you american? because i somehow only see this problem (majorly) in america. Where i live (and i think pretty much anywhere else as far as i am aware) Biology is a "non-negotiable" topic, even sex-ed is mandatory here in first grade biology. So apart from your usual deviants that just don´t care, or think they are too good for school and education, everyone has at least a pretty basic anatomical understanding of human physiology. For instance: it is a proven fact in biology that male bodies and female bodies are not the same, they are made for two completely different things. One is supposed to produce and nurture offspring while the other is supposed to hunt for food and protect the "home" so to speak. Does that mean women are incapable of fighting? no, it just means they have a biological disadvantage to any male attacker, that however does not mean those disadvantages cannot be mitigated by effort. I know a bunch of women that could completely dismantle me in a fight because they are trained and physically fit. Not really sure why i included that side rant... but the point im trying to get at is, this only seems to be a problem in a country where the individual parent is so enveloped in their arrogant ideology of "i am the only one who knows what my child should learn". Granted, you are the parent, however keeping your child an idiot because you don´t want them to see tits and ass in a biology book, is just paranoid.
