I don't understand the logic of seeing your child vomit, break out in hives or just flat out nearly die and the parent still keeps feeding their kid whatever nearly killed them. What wire got crossed in their brain to think like this?
@alexisgrunden1556
@alexisgrunden1556 Год назад
It's not about logic; it's a pathological belief in their own superiority and correctness. @$$holes like this believe with all the fervor of fanatical cultists that they are right, _always,_ and that they are never wrong. Being told otherwise feels like an attack to them; to be told 'No' or that she is wrong by a _child? By her OWN child??_ Oh, to whackadoodles like this, that's like going up to a Catholic bishop, turning a cross upside down and lighting it on fire...and then putting it out by pissing on it. That's how horrifically offended she got by the notion that her child would have the _audacity_ to contradict her. ESPECIALLY in front of guests; she clearly had a very carefully cultivated reputation and public persona.

My Father is also lactose intolerant. When he was a child, they got milk or cocoa in school to drink during break. It was after the war, so all the kids got it since it was tough to feed them at home. When he wouldn't drink it the headmaster came by and ordered him to do it. He drank and then threw up on the headmaster's shoes. Headmaster turns around and proclaimed to the lady serving: He does not have to drink it in the future. Then apologized and walked away. Now remember, this was around 1960 so it could have gone completely different too.

I learned this dealing with one of my cousins who didn't know he was lactose intolerant until we told him that's a thing. He just thought it was bad milk making him puke. I remember having to explain to a girl's mother that, in the state of New Mexico, her dog's rabies vaccines are not something she can just blow off, even if you wanted to save the twelve bucks it costs. I had to drag out the actual state code to show her that the penalty for her dog biting *anyone* without a rabies vaccine record is not something to play around with. For those curious, New Mexico takes Rabies *so* seriously that the penalty is the animal's immediate euthanasia and, um, "confiscation" of a particular body part to be tested at a state lab. If you know what Rabies is you know what part I'm talking about.

I'm a high functioning autistic (17) and my mom always used to pull the "My son is autistic" card to get sympathy and discounts on random sh*t and it really got on my f*cking nerves as a kid (and still does to this very day) to the point where she kinda started believing it herself and she pampered me to the point where it prevented me from properly maturing and I even noticed this because my older siblings we're maturing at about 2x the rate I was even my sister who's only 2 years apart from me but there wasn't much I could do because I had really bad anxiety about what would happen she lost custody of me a long while ago and I stayed with my dad who tried to teach me some of the things I missed out on without making me feel bad about not learning it when I was supposed to and now I'm back with her for a while visiting and just the other day when I was going to the zoo with her, my sister, brother in-law and my nephew and niece she brought PB and J's even though there's a rule where you're not supposed too bring outside food that's not what got on my nerves but what did was that she said "If anybody comes up to us I'll just say "My son is autistic and the only thing I can get him to eat is PB and J's so just roll with it."

My uncle and aunt have said it to her maybe a handful of times and the times they did my cousin got my/our grandmother involved and she persuaded my uncle and aunt with the arguement that my cousin is still just a kid (10 years old now so yeah). But at this point I do think there is some slight necessity to start to introduce her to the basics of how life isn't fair.

I always was told I was fine and just needed a nap after I ate peanuts, peanut butter candies, or sandwiches. Turns out no I didn’t just need a nap my throat was just itching so bad I was getting light headed and thought it was normal due to the fact I had had a lot of throat surgery done and thought my scars just were acting up. I went years without peanut butter and never thought of it until at work I ate peanut mms and threw the bag up not half an hour later and couldn’t breathe right.

Fun fact about the milk situation. Humans by default are lactose intolerant, but people, in mainly Europe, forced themselves to tolerate it so much that now about 20% of the world’s population can handle it. If you keep away from dairy for long enough, some adults can develop an intolerance even if they weren’t before because they were conditioned to tolerate it.

I used to be allergic to strawberries as a child. Luckily mine wasn't anaphylactic either; I just broke out in hives when I ate one. However, I grew out of the allergy (probably an unheard of occurrence) by the time I was in Illinois' corrupted foster system, and they're adoption system that had so many single parents and gay couples that I highly doubt that if a Christianic/religious kid could choose to be adopted in Illinois, or be homeless or put in a group home/orphanage (considering the high melanin intoxication rate in that state, both of those placement options are probably highly abusive), that they wouldn't choose to live under a bridge. On a related note for the allergies, long after I was finally adopted, a doctor once prescribed me a cream for my acne, and both me, and my now deceased adoptive dad, found out I was allergic to the cream because every part of my skin that it touched had a rash that looked like chemical burns

12:00 daaaamn coming from just finishing working summer camp over the summer (Pretty much daycare over the summer), we had a girl like this too. One time she said her: "Mr.xxxx is your boss?" Referring to the camp director. me: "Yep, he's my boss." Thinking she'd just be like 'huh cool' her: "I should go to him and tell him that I hate it in your group, that you're a bad councilor" And she already had the 'Oh that kid' reputation where every councilor knew her name even if they've never had her in their group. The kid that all the councilors know when they get a report written on them, so I wasn't scared a bit. In fact my boss would probably say 'Good, he's doing his job' in response to her if she ever did say that, so I responded accordingly. me: "oh really? you know, that's a great idea! You should really tell him that I'm an awful councilor." In such a genuine tone. Half way through the last sentence she figures out I'm being 110% sarcastic and her victory face turns into a defeated face. her: "You're being sarcastic aren't you." wasn't much of a question, she knew the answer me: "Yup" Thinking back on it, I feel bad for the kid because she was probably taught that that kind of behavior was what got you what you wanted, either from her parents caving into that kind of behavior, or from her parents acting like that to other people around her. I've never hated a kid. I've disliked working with a few, but never hated them. I can say I've hated a parent though. It's the parents who let poor behavior grow into something that adversely impacts the kid's personality, not the kid. It's the parent's responsibility to be a good role model to their children. *Children will do what they see you do.* While it's the parent's right to parent, it affects the community. There are -different- type of parenting, and then there are -bad- types of parent. There's a difference.

*I wouldn't judge the mother from the phone story too harshly. I TOTALLY understand where she's coming from.* Children (and teens) are quick to find loopholes, so family rules are often presented with zero exceptions. When OP first said "I'm alone so it isn't rude," she handed that child a lovely new excuse to use in the future. The mother recognized that, and was trying to prevent future arguments by asking OP to put away the phone. Does that make it ok? Absolutely not. It was extremely rude, but flying with children is _exhausting,_ everyone was irritable, and she was at her wit's end. A TRULY unreasonable parent would have refused to back down, but instead the mother realized she'd screwed up, and rather than lose face in front of her kids (or continue to bother OP) by apologizing, she opted to move tables and prevent further problems.

Hi, autistic person here. In response to the story at the end of the video, I’d just like to say that that mother clearly resents that her child isn’t “normal” (as people like that tend to say) so she uses that child to make others lives miserable. I feel so sorry for that kid and they’re honestly probably going to grow up thinking they’re “bad” just because they’re autistic. Parents like that make my blood boil and I truly hope this type of behavior towards children who literally can’t control if they’re autistic or not dies out and quickly.

My partner was watching tv in the basement with my siblings, he has a cinnamon allergy hives and all that stuff. I go down with a glass and ask if he wants anything to drink regular wine, beer or a glass of the spiced wine that I was told had NO CINNAMON. He wants to try the spiced wine so I get him a glass, about 5 minutes later he’s itching and sweating. My family felt awful because they didn’t believe me or him-all of my partners have been a problem for them, no one is good enough for any of my siblings and I. They felt so stupid they were catering to his every need, my grandfathers wife even went next door to get antihistamines because they didn’t have any. So stupid-let’s poison someone because we don’t believe them or don’t like them
