I'm not even a father but anytime I hear someone refer to a baby as "my baby" when they are not the parents, it immediately sends me into a rage. The audacity of that is unreal
@Br0nto5aurus
@Br0nto5aurus Год назад
I agree, but I have found one exception. I used to watch the kids at my church, and there was a 4-year-old boy who had an 8-month-old baby sister. They were in different rooms for childcare, and his mother would pick him up first, so when his mother came to pick up the baby, he came, too. If the baby was asleep, the mom would collect the diaper bag and things first while the proud big brother went from one daycare attendant holding a sleeping baby to the next saying, "is that my baby?" until he found her, then he would give her a kiss on the head. But when adults who aren't the baby's parents do it, it's gross.

God damn it, I KNEW there was gonna be someone to say it! XD Okay, though, in all seriousness, these entitled parents don't realize how serious something like that is. Put simply, if I use a forklift (which I've never done) and I break the scaffolding, there's potential for everything that it was supporting to come crashing down and kill me. Something to that effect has actually happened once in the store I work at many years ago well before I was hired there. Retail can be a very dangerous job for a variety of reasons, and that's definitely one of them. O.o Meanwhile, I know the irritation of having a customer come in and demolish stock. There's this one customer who comes in to our store every so often (it's like every week at least) and takes two carts overflowing with cases of 12-packs of canned soda and 8-12 packs of Gatorade/Powerade. Before, management would tell him that we can't complete the sale because there's a limit, but now they've just stopped caring. The reason he comes in and does this, from my understanding, is because he either owns or works for a convenience store some ways up the road and restocks his supply by taking from other stores. I don't know if this is technically against the law, but it is VERY annoying, since it just begs the question of why they can't just pay for a delivery service or if they simply don't want to? I dunno, I'm no expert in that field. >.> All in all, really it's just irritating because a customer's gonna wonder why the shelves don't have stock of that one item because this one dude just came in and took 'em all for his business. Funnily enough, a person hired by Hyvee actually came in to our store once and demolished our ketchup stock to replenish their stock. It was hilariously unsubtle even: they came in a Hyvee van. Two carts full of ketchup because...I dunno, actually. XD

I already had many experiences of some shops selling expired items at 6 bucks, because they couldn't sell it fast enough.

The first story. The MIL is in her own universe. There is 20 kinds of crazy going on with her. The moment she started with the "my baby" stuff, especially after her reaction to not being told first, shouldn't raise every alarm and I mean everyone. Fire alarms, egg timers, alarm clocks and bomb raid klaxons. Arguing with doctors, throwing away medication and demanding to do things her way... this is stupid for a lot of reasons, but the biggest is medical science evolves fast. It commonly said that within 5 years of when a medical student graduates, half of what they were taught is considered wrong. Sometimes, students have to relearn something they learn in their first or second years just to get up to new standard practice. Even, simple stuff, like how much coffee or spicy food an expecting mother should have is wildly variable. When my mother was pregnant with me no body gave a monkey's how much caffeine you had but the spicest food a woman could have was bread sauce (yeah, it's as bland as it sounds, it's a standard white sauce [a roux] with breadcrumbs mixed into it, it liquid white bread). Now spicy food isn't recommended for the last trimester and you shouldn't drink more than 12 fl oz of plain coffee a day (about 1 mug). But she kidnapped OP's baby, that isn't just crazy, that's a crime. How she avoided prison is beyond me.

I'm calling the cops on you!"*, *"-insert insult about women dressing lightly-"*, *"WE'RE IN AMERICA, SPEAK ENGLISH, NOT JAPANESE!", said to a CHINESE person*, *"Vaccines causes autism!"* - I don't believe that one, tho, the more logical thought is that vaccines can TRIGGER a child's autism if the child haven't been diagnosed with it yet, but Idk if that's true or not, but regardless, that sounds far more logical and believable than plain Karen logic
@RenAsterion
@RenAsterion 2 года назад
@@Samantha.K.S.Simpson Vaccines don't even TRIGGER autism as they have NOTHING to do with how a brain functions. I had this argument with some anti-vaxxer before who tried saying that autism is a thing that cannot develop before the child is 6 months. That's not true. Autism is something a kid is BORN with. Sometimes it's low expression when the kid is born and gets worse over time. I was the opposite. I was born with a high level of expression to my autism and I improved over time (or rather, my brain matured and how my autism is expressed changed). I was bad enough as a baby/small child that when I was born, the doctors and nurses thought I was a drug baby and took me for testing (I was clean, Mom was clean. She didn't even SMOKE when she was pregnant for fear of hurting me. Quit cold turkey for me). Then, when I was about three, mom had child protective services called on us by the neighbours because I was always screaming and covered in bruises. The agents came and got first hand experience with, well... me as a small child. Right in front of them, I tried to pull the TV down on top of myself (which would have squashed me, because while it was a small TV, it was an old tube TV and those things are heavy AF. This was late 80s or 1990 at the latest). Mom had to grab me and restrain me because not only would I have continued trying to pull the TV down (I was fixated on it), but I DID NOT like being touched (born with that. Mom couldn't even breast feed me because being held made me MAD and I wouldn't eat. It's way different now. lol) and started screeching and trying to ram my head into her chin. ...autistic children are fun, yo. But yeah. Autistic right from birth. All autistic children are, but autism is something that expresses different in each child, and how they express as they grow and mature changes as well.
@justarandomveryintelligent8934
@justarandomveryintelligent8934 2 года назад
@@RenAsterion i think the reason a lot of people make the connection between vaccines and autism is because of an ingredient that used to appear in all vaccines but no longer does. Thimerasol mercury. See its common knowledge that pure mercury causes neurological damage. Its where we get the term mad as a hatter because hatters used to rub mercury bare handed into the felt of their hats and the heavy exposure to mercury would cause brain damage. So i think when people heard the name thimerosol mercury they assumed it was a diluted yet still dangerous form of mercury which isnt the case at all. Its like table salt. You could call table salt sodium chloride. Sodium on its own is extremely dangerous as is chloride or chlorine but you put them together and you get perfectly safe table salt. People dont understand that with the right mixture you can make dangerous chemicals completely safe

She's definitely buying for a convenience store. She doesn't just annoy the cashier who has to scan her items, she often ends up saying that prices came up wrong, so customer service has to deal with her as well. One night, myself and two other colleagues had to help pack up all of her chocolate bars because they were all coming up the wrong price, and I had to fix everything at customer service. Our store closes at 11pm, she went through the cashier at around 10:45. The cash office guy that night couldn't get to customer service to close the till before she got there because he was stuck in the till beside her and couldn't get out because she refused to move for him. I was there with the cash office guy waiting to close the till until almost 11:20 trying to fix all of the wrong prices on her approximately $300 of chocolate bars. My father's mother somehow managed to get a paternity test done on me behind my mom's back, with the hopes that I was NOT her son's child. Lo, I am. She decided I wasn't a 'real' grandchild still. Haven't had contact for upwards of 20 years. People like this don't deserve children, let alone grandchildren.

OP said the incident happened years ago (several, many, long time ago-something to that effect) so at that point a blood test was all that was available. There was no 23 and Me and such that could use the cheek swabs. Probably happened around the time that Maury Povich started the whole "You are the father/not the father" shows.

I hate how many grandparents seem to think that it's all about them. It happens in so many stories, including ones where OP says they never showed such entitlement before. So glad my mom wasn't like that while my son's mother was pregnant and giving birth. My whole family understood that they were 2nd fiddle in that scenario. Even his mother's mom wasn't like that, and she knew the whole time that she'd be in the room with us and everything. So many grandparents calling grandkids their kids.

BTP has entered the chat (I think this is in the UK because they say Standard Class, not Second Class) Alternatively, she can just be arrested by the ticket inspector for fare evasion and then dragged back into Standard Class. Normally on trains in the UK, there are multiple carriages, so if EP didn't like her seat, she could go to another standard class carriage. But I think her excuse for being in first class was just that: an excuse.

Jesus Christ, if someone tries forcing their way into your life and tries to control it, just ditch them immediately. Don’t give into their BS, don’t give into their manipulation, just don’t even listen to them. She was CRAZY and they needed to cut contact a lot sooner, especially when she tried trashing essential medications and tried controlling the pregnant woman’s every move. Just because you’re related to someone by blood or marriage doesn’t mean you owe them anything, she isn’t family, she isn’t giving her son and her daughter-in-law any love, support, help and advice, she’s trying to manipulate them, wear them down so they’ll do whatever she wants, she’s trying to control everything they do and say, and that’s just straight up toxic and they owe her no loyalty, because that’s not family, that’s abuse. I cut contact with my biological family years ago because they tried controlling me, my money, were homophobic, ableist, psychologically abused me, tried manipulating me, tried withholding essential medications that I need just to have a somewhat normalish life (mostly bedridden disabled with mobility issues because of nerve damage, and PTSD), and I put my foot down and said “nah, enough, get the f*ck out of my life and stay out”. They only tried contacting me after to send boat loads of abuse, because in their minds they were totally justified in trying to control me, manipulate me and abuse me. They didn’t deserve my love and loyalty, so I kicked them to the kerb and haven’t looked back, I’m a LOT more mentally healthy and stable. I hope the OP considers cutting all contact entirely because her MIL is not going to learn, people like that can never accept they’re wrong or that they’re at fault, and she’s all too happy to abuse them to get her own way, and is all too happy to endanger their child. F*ck her, cut all contact, do not have further contact, get a restraining order if you need to.

Heck, I got a new dog five months ago. The first thing I did was paid 140$ for a DNA test so I knew what health risks I could expect. I even tested my two senior girls a few years ago, and solved a medical mystery for one of them. Now I have a one year old puppy, who I know the breed of (Husky x APBT), the genetic testable health conditions carried (0 of 219 tested), and even the expected adult size (though this has been wrong in the past with one dog, it was spot on for this one and my chow chow mix). I can now know a basic guideline of what to expect for vet visits later on, as well as get breed-specific behavioral training tips and advice. I can also rule out some potential diagnosis should she ever develop signs of a medical condition, as her DNA test results show that she has 219 things she isn't genetically predisposed to. I highly advise ANYONE who wants to know what things they should look out for health-wise in their dog to try out EMBARK. I've saved thousands in vet bills for one of my senior dogs, and given her years more of good quality life and pain management thanks to a simple swab that showed she had a health condition called IVDD. When it came to my new puppy, I didn't hesitate. I ordered the test before she even got home. And that simple act will provide a great basis for training, medical, and behavioral checking in the future.

I used to rent a room in a house from a lady who would hoard boxes of cocoa puffs. She said she'd get huge amounts whenever they were on sale, so there were boxes *everywhere* in that house. One of the kitchen cupboards was totally full, boxes were on top of the cupboards, on top of the fridge, in closets of bedrooms, on the shelf in her laundry room, and in unopened cases on the floor. Some of them had "best before" dates that were almost 5 years past! She'd occasionally offer me some, but I declined. Not that I don't like cocoa puffs, just that... ugh.

I can tell that the last story is from the UK just by knowledge of the trains! I have had a similar thing happen to me where this woman came on with her kids and sat in First next to my mother and me. We were on standard class tickets but got moved to first because the standard class disabled toilet had broken so it was easier to move my mother in her wheelchair up to the other end of the train so she could spin round and move the five feet instead of several hundred feet. The guard came up and asked to see her tickets and she - lo and behold - had standard class tickets and was asked to move. She refused and started trying to punch the guard at which point the man who was on our table got up and asked the woman to calm down who refused and then grabbed a knife from the dinner service - the guy simply reached into his jacket and pulled out one of Messers Heckler and Koch's finest and held her until the British Transport Police turned up at the next station and arrested her for assault and attempted assault with a deadly weapon. That man that had the gun...? He was an armed police officer on undercover work

That last story reminded me of after my first term at university. I was going home for Christmas break and done the typical student thing of wearing all my clothes and not wasting my money washing them instead bringing it to do at home for free at my parents place. Anyway because of my dads job whilst I was in full time education I got free first class train travel. So I’m there in first class listening to my music dressed in tracksuits and looking like a massive slob and these old women dressed very nicely come in and glare at me. One taps me on the shoulder. ‘This is first class’ I respond with ‘yep’ ‘you need a first class ticket to sit here’ ‘I have one’ ‘no you don’t show me’ ‘I don’t need to’ ‘show me, people like you can’t afford first class’ ‘I can and I do’ the other has clearly scuttled off to get a guard and he comes and asks ‘sir these people say you don’t have a first class ticket do you mind if I see your ticket’ ‘not at all’ I pass my pass over. Guard looks at it and has a moment to think as my ticket is a rarity and even more rare for someone young to have it. ‘Looks like you have a first class ticket. Enjoy your journey.’ ‘Thank you now while your here can you check their tickets’ the old ladies go white as they hand them over. ‘Ladies these are standard class tickets I’m afraid you’re going to have to leave first class’ ‘but we always sit in first class’ ‘not today you don’t. Leave!’ They grabbed their stuff and grumbled as they left. I may or may not have flipped them the bird as they left.

As a person who has taken a DNA ancestry test, I can confirm that this is absolutely a way to take the test and know who is your blood family. (blood doesnt always matter though, family is fam in my opinion.. I just wanted to know more about my roots) My husband and I got ours on Sale during a black friday deal online, so it was like, 2 for 1. After getting our results back, my father's side of the family showed up, at least those who took the test. My half sister even took the test and I never knew about it. I contacted her and was like "Yo! You showed up, I wanna see your percentages and how we differ!" Great for cross referencing what you got from your mom, and what you got from your dad.... if you have a half sibling. This also had the added benefit of confirming that I was my dads daughter. He never wanted it confirmed, he would rather just assume I was his. He knew my mom had cheated on him several times while they were together, but he is a sweet man, and his kids are his kids.. he would rather not have any proof to the contrary.. but my brother told me after I found several relatives on my dad's side in my bio, that I had to go over the results with him.. because he would love that.. it would put a three decade long question to rest.. My other brother wanted to do the same some time before, but my dad had asked him not to, citing "you are my son, thats all that matters." He didnt want to know otherwise which he feared would ruin their relationship.

MIL shouldn't have even been allowed in for the prenatal scans to be honest.

I didn’t even need to hear the title to know that kidnapping is where that first story would inevitably end up. So I work at a store that I think is the same as the one in the second story. If you talk to the older staff they’ll tell you they had way more training before they were ever sent out on to the floor, and they do give online safety training that you legit get paid to do during your work hours. For the most part though, the machinery and heavy lifting is basically its own department and staff. Unless otherwise requested over time, storage/night crew and are the same people. And I think it’s due to the forklifts. They give you safety training for the forklifts if you don’t work night crew but it’s more like traffic safety. My job is very big on sticking to rules when it comes to safety, and “just this once” is a massive ass no-no! The lady in charge of night crew, while the classic looks kind of intimidating but is genuinely a caring and good person type, if you mess up she will be annoyed…if you break expensive machinery or are messing around with equipment, she will be pissed
