Story2: I'm willing to lay odds that his mother put on the wedding dress because she probably secretly wishes she could *marry her son*

I'm still grossed out about the whole story what with her wearing no underwear whilst trying on the dress, him thinking Mummy spoon feeding him is normal. All of his relationships are doomed to fail unless the therapist can make him see his mother has groomed him his whole life.

@Dark Wizard It's also called "My Beloved Smother" only in the "Darker aspect of that Trope!" (Darker being A woman who sees her Son as a Woman sees a Man.) And a thing people forget with Oedipus is that he killed his father "by accident" and the people pretty much gave him the "old man he killed by accident's throne and wife the Queen" which only AFTER they "did the deed" did the discover they were mother and son (Good Ole Dad tried to get rid of Oedipus because "Prophecy declared he would be killed by Oedipus" and as you know! The more you try to defy fate, the worse it will defy reason to assure everything comes to past! In this case it was only bad luck that Oedipus choose to go to the kingdom of his birth that he was unaware was of his birth and accidently kill him and become King!) Creepy (Karen) is a Mother KNOWINGLY pursuing her son, and rocking the boat with his relationship with OP like a Jealous Homewrecker would do when they want the Male SO of the relationship and she's not hiding it! Hell she's taking advantage of her ! When she put that Wedding dress on! She was trying to "imagine herself in OP position" not "admiring it!" Her jealousy at OP is on overdrive because she KNOWS how gross she is for her "attachment" to her son (that NO TRUE PARENT would have to their child) but as we established with Karen's! They are PROUD idiots who never know when to quit when the getting is good! They only do so when "it's too late to quit" and the chance of learning anything from their idiocy is EXTREMELY RARE!). But Fiancée doesn't get an out either! Any one who noted this creepy "affection" from their parent directed at them would have "recognized it for what it is!" I've heard of those who QUICKLY took care of this shit before it got worse! He's a momma's boy coward who wants to ignore the issue at hand out of fear of humiliating his mother! Even if he could do it privately if he wanted to. Instead OP has seen it, and it's going to get worse before it gets better

This guys is a living troll or undiagnostic ... a 5 years old in a 20 years old body. I mean, there are some syndrome/ill where you kind of never get autonomie / get graps on reality or some after some very bad head injuries. And it's ok (I mean, I don't wish anybody that, but it's life). But, the mother should know and should actually bring some paper work around and go through normal channel to provide work to her child. When you do so, you find appropriate job to some place that know with what they deal and how to deal with it. What throw me off here (and let me think it might be injury related), is the fact that normally, that kind of issue is very apparent during the interview. It let me think that he "interact" like a 20 years old, but act like a 3 years old. Very weird... and the mother don't have any idea? Wtf lady : if he is doing that kind of thing at work, I'm pretty sure he does it at home too! If not the case, I would probably said that she is the victim too. Like maybe trying to not work of his life and be stay at home. Act ok at home, get job, act stupid, get fired, get back home to act normal and play his game.

Doubt it. I've met parents who coddled their children to the point that they ended up broken, barely functional adults. I knew a lady who did this to her son. She put him on a pedestal. She practically beatified and canonized him into sainthood. Essentially, she had defied him into godhood to the point that he believed he was bulletproof because mommy dearest would always run to his rescue. Any attempt at pointing out that she was actively screwing up her own son fell on deaf ears. He's now an overgrown man-baby with no life skills, no empathy, no integrity, nothing resembling a sense of accountability and totally expects the world to bend over backwards for him while giving him everything he wants in life. In other words, he grew up to be just like his mother.

Sweetie, that mother in law is NOT going to change. I've been the daughter in law of someone like that. There was nothing I could do right because I took her baby away from her. When we got pregnant, she said it was my brother's baby and not my husband. Well, when our kid turned out to look a lot like him, that went by the wayside. But she always tried to get even with me for things I never did. 10 years into the marriage, he broke up a relationship with a couple we knew. The guy was a friend of my little brother and the girlfriend was a stripper. My ex threw me out for her. I got calls from mommy asking me to come home and throw the girl (sleezy leezy) out and force him back. Oh no, not. And, when she was dying from brain cancer, she was asking for me. I did go, just because I didn't want my child to have trouble with grandma's passing. I've been married to my soulmate for 30 years this year. My ex has been married twice more and is single again, in his late 50s. He lost a lot with that and I really can't feel sorry for him. He chose the girlfriend and his mom over me. My "new" inlaws loved me until they died and knew that I adored their son. We're going on a cruise tomorrow, and our lives are so full of love. Don't marry that guy. He's a momma's boy and won't change. EDIT: The last story. OMG, that sounds like the ex. He got a job at a carpet company. All he was supposed to do was sweep the back room, turn off the lights, and come out to go home. Now, I'm pregnant with our kid and not able to work at that moment. So we're depending on him. He does the sweeping and goes to turn the light off. But he pulls the fire alarm instead. And the fire department comes and they charge for false alarms. Guess who got fired the first day. So, that last story was, again, the same guy.

He told his mom like you were the bad guy and how he was going to make you calm down while you were sitting there, and when that didn't work he planned on manipulating you on the day of the wedding behind your back. When mom & dad purchased their house a gazillion years ago , there was an old upright piano left by the previous owners ... three different times over several years some woman came to the house to tell my parents that previous owner told her she could have the piano. 🤯. She even told dad that she had men lined up to move it out of the basement, which would involve moving the fridge & stove out of the kitchen because of where the stairs are! Dad told her the only way it was coming out was in pieces! Mom passed, we’re selling the house, the piano is still there. I’m trying to find a loving home for it-- it needs a ton of love & repair

For the second story I can say unequivocally under no circumstances should she marry that man. If you have to religiously check his text and check his emails for whatever reason then your relationship is pretty much trash. You have no trust you have no respect and without that, you’re it’s doomed from day one. There is little to no chance of it succeeding and you’ll end up getting divorced and it’ll probably be extremely messy with mother-in-law right in the middle of it.

FMIL definitely has more than a few screws loose. I'd ban her from my home, at least until after the wedding and send HER the bill for the dress repairs. And If fiancé didn't back you, I'd seriously reconsider the relationship, even at this late date. I think I would also get a deadbolt lock for my bedroom door (and any other rooms I had important stuff in) and keep the doors locked any time she's over to prevent her snooping. BTW, what's your fiancé's take on this? UPDATE: OP, I almost feel like you're in denial yourself. I hope the counseling works, but I truthfully rather doubt it will. How can you be certain that your fiancé hasn't created other accounts to communicate with his mother? If you find any hint of that having happened, you need to call it all off. I'd be certain to get that restraining order in the meantime, though. This woman is likely to turn violent. TBH, I'm not certain I could stay with anyone who showed this many red flags. I hope like all hell you don't get pregnant before all this is settled one way or another. That last story sounds a bit like someone I worked with -- for a mercifully short time -- in a major department store chain back in college. After 2 weeks in the bedding department, he was transferred to working with the loading dock crews so that at least he wouldn't constantly be screwing up floor displays, price signs, price tags, register counts, etc. No such luck... He was finally fired after at most a month in the store when, while playing around with the rolling pallets used to transport boxes (basically pushing it fast down the aisle and jumping on to take a ride),he utterly destroyed a display with a couple of thousand dollars' worth of crystal in it. To the end, his take on the situation was that he'd been messing around because it was boring to just push the pallets around on the floor and "it was an accident, I didn't mean to do it, so I shouldn't be fired for it."
