As someone who not only wore a baby leash as a toddler (an autistic, easily distracted toddler), but also someone who sees kids at the store I work at able to wander off to the farthest end of the store from their parent in less than a minute, I am serious about leashing kids. Seriously, either have your child contantly have a hold on you or have a constant hold on your child whenever you are out in public. Too many things can go wrong if they leave your line of sight

I've mostly seen it used by people who are wrangling large numbers of kids and the youngest one or one that's at a specific wandering age is a concern. If you have to split your attention it totally makes sense to tether your kids and before we had directly tethered to parent we had tether the kids together. Maybe people forgot about that.

23:55 Women start periods younger because the body needs time to adjust. You shouldn’t get pregnant at your first period or even within a few years of your first period. Your body needs to figure out how to properly build up uterine lining, how to release an egg on a regular schedule, and how to become a regular cycle. So, using the logic of “she has a period so that means she can :breed: is not only disgusting, it’s factually wrong.

The whole biological determinism argument of these creeps is absurd to begin with: You can die shortly after you are born. It's possible, but that does not mean it is intended by nature or desired by humans. And even if an age is reached at which pregnancy would be physically possible without any problems, that does not mean that it's mentally sensible and/or socially and culturally desirable. That would also mean that nature wants me to attack people and take their stuff as soon as I am physically able to.

And this is, by far, the biggest risk from antivaxxers. Yes, they are an immediate threat to the people who CANT be vaccinated, but in the long term, they are going to bring back a lot of diseases that have largely been wiped out and, since they are now spreading again, those diseases are going to change enough that those of us who ARE vaccinated are no longer immune. Sooner or later, these numbnuts are going to be directly responsible for another global pandemic and it wont be something as comparatively benign as Covid.

My wife was someone who would never put kids on a leash. She was a preschool teacher and she did use a walking line the kids would hold when going out with the kids, but not a harness and leash. Then we had twins... in New York City. They would run in opposite directions and if you were alone with them, you'd chase whoever was going the more dangerous direction. We got them backpacks that a leash attaches to, so it made them feel independent like they were carrying their ow stuff, but it was really for safety.

"Fun" fact about the woman calling her ex a billion times: the default length time a phone will ring before it goes to voicemail is around 15 seconds. Assuming the guy didn't change his phone's settings and didn't reject every call manually, she was literally ringing him about as often as possible. I learned that it is wasted Energy and time to satisfy parents. They will always find something that they dont Like. Its totally fine to send your parents Home, if they disappoint you. Own Appartement means that youre close to or above maturity. They may still see you as a Child, but you are not a Child anymore. I was invited to my best Friend' Wedding years ago, but i didnt had any "Wedding appropiate" clothes (was in my late 20s, early 30s). I ask my parents If they have old pieces that i could wear (Same size as my father) - if not, i could simply buy stuff, but why paying Money for a suit that you wear probably once? I told them that i only need a suit, no tie....i told them that TWICE. I heavily dislike stuff hanging around my neck xD What was the first i saw when they arrived and opened the Trunk? Several ties. Even tried to talk me into wearing them. Was so angry that i went back into my Appartement and told them to drive home - 3h driving. It wasnt the first time that they completely ignored my words and thought i would ignore it, but that incident really made me angry. My father is still pissed about that and is reluctant to come in, even If they are invited. Bought comfortable, appropiate clothing later and with my Sunglasses, i looked like a Bodyguard in the Wedding Pictures xD

@@endrek4895 @feuerling I never said her logic was consistent. The punishment I would get for doing the same at her place if I were to ever visit it. Btw I am from a country with almost exclusivly "no shoes indoors"-households. The truth behind it is actually quiet sad. I come from a family where the whims of the parents translate into siblings getting pitted against eachother, trying to gain the approval of their parents and since you can't fulfill contradictive standards and a 0% mistakerate, they all masted trashtalking others. Their insecurities run deep, all blaming eachother, always worried about their image. That's not a reason for me to deal with that generational garbage though.
@ROARlikeDoggysDo
@ROARlikeDoggysDo 2 месяца назад
@@smaragdwolf1 True. I learned it rather early. That example is also about 10 years in the past. If you have good parents they will provide guidens, be proud of what you archive,may critique you but not mock you, or pick a fight about you not wearing a tie. If you have parents that would pick a fight over you not wearing a tie, there is no worthy approval to be optained to begin with. It may seem small just like that, but when it fills your entire life where they try to force you into very specific dress codes, hobbies, behavour, carriers, friendship, partners, having kids and they pick fights even over when to add salt when cooking pasta, it just ain't healthy.

penguins were indeed not around when pangea was a thing, as that was around the time of the dinosaurs. there was, however, a species of penguin called the colossus penguin (part of the giant penguin species) that went lived and extinct about thirty seven million years ago. it lived in what, at the time, was the rainforest of antarctica and was over two metres tall. it's not really related to pangea, but i love talking about penguins and i did my university dissertation on them, including the mega penguins.

@abbzehx
@abbzehx 2 месяца назад
@@eyesofthecervino3366 you’re correct that the cold is a driving factor in enhanced growth. marine creatures that live in polar waters grow a lot larger than their warmer water counterparts and have an increased longevity. as for the penguins, i believe that happened because of the warmer temperature then. i said antarctica was a rainforest, right? you can imagine the sort of temperatures needed for that to happen. animals around that time (and before, like the dinosaurs and the giant insects) were all a lot larger than they are today because of that temperature (and lack of seasons) and the metabolic differences to now it brought (ie, warmer temperatures mean faster metabolism, meaning the animals could grow a lot bigger). no one is entirely sure why the giant penguins went extinct, since they went before the last ice age, but one theory is that they were beaten out by the pinnipeds (ie the seals). sorry if this seems rambly and weirdly worded. it’s half seven in the morning and i’m so tired lmao
@spiker.ortmann
@spiker.ortmann 2 месяца назад
I'm pretty sure Pangea was way before the dinosaurs, by the time the first dinosaurs appeared there was at least 2 continents as far as I know... the giant insects were possible because the oxygen was more concentrated in the atmosphere so it was easier to get supposedly, no idea if the big non-insectoid creatures had any connection with that or not.
@abbzehx
@abbzehx 2 месяца назад
@@spiker.ortmann pangea has technically happened about five separate times over the course of the earth’s history, including during the time of the dinosaurs. it’s a cycle of landmasses coming together then breaking apart through plate shifting. right now, the plates are beginning to shift back together, though it’s a slow but recordable process. and it’s true that there were higher concentrations of oxygen in the atmosphere during that era, but the heat was also a big factor in the colossal sizes, as i said, due to its effect on the metabolism.

The disappearing toddler one is extremely accurate because I was the disappearing toddler. Stores, amusement parks, vacation houses, beaches; I kept wandering off making my parents worry sick. Fun story about "kids on a leash": When I was on a vacation in SWEDEN with my wife and three kids I experienced that shock! We visited an Air show near the Vänern lake, While I freed my youngest (1 y.o) from his car seat, the others quickly and unnoticed wandered off. We were totally in shock, kids gone in a foreign country, not speaking the language, a huge crowd around.... total shock! Then we heard a voice from the announcer tower (obviously in swedish) :"Two kids are found! May the parents come to the tower!" A moment later followed by (in german) : "Oh, just found out they are german kids!" Not a minute later I had reached the tower and took the kids back into my custody. The idea of a leash REALLY came to mind!

I don't know when the whooping cough vaccine was made, but it certainly wasn't in the early 80s when I was born. I was a very young toddler (maybe just under a year) when I caught the whooping cough. There was no vaccine. There was no medication for it geared towards children, much less young children. I had to be given the only medicine available for it (which was geared for adults only), which was a very large pill and which I had to swallow whole. It could not be cut, crushed, or mixed with anything else. If it wasn't for my grandfather who figured out how to safely give me the medicine, I most likely wouldn't be here today. It's a miracle I survived. I'm really grateful my nephew and other young family members are vaccinated against this at a very early age. I just wish it was available when I was born.

Parents who forget their children in the back seat are just parents whose brain lapse caused something terrible to happen. Usually, it happens when a routine is changed. Combined with very little sleep, a quiet child and stress. I don't think they phrased it very well, but leaving behind something that is a nescessity - like your work key, a shoe or your work bag - in the back as a standard, it will break the going autopilot and forgetting. It really is one of the worst thing to happen. And although there might be some people out there who are actively neglectful and don't care about their kids, I think most are just... humans. And I really don't wish that upon anyone. (Or give them any more punishment - their lapse of reason caused a literal nightmare scenario, they'll never be able to forget it or forgive themselves)

We need to hold car manufacturers to account for building death ovens. Try walking out of a shopping centre on a 40+C day with three small children you have to get into the car safely. The inside of the car is so hot, touching the metal part of a seat buckle will cause burns. But you can't switch the air con on until everyone is "safely" buckled in because that requires the keys in the ignition and the engine running which makes the car a theft risk while you're not in the driver's seat. We don't need to get into the neurology of how overtired parents will hallucinate that they brought the child into the house from the car because their brain is so desperate, it will do anything to make them lie down and sleep. Just ordinary parents on an ordinary day need better cars for our children's safety.

Not that this is an important comment but, for those who didn't know, the first keyboard actually had the letters in alphabetical order. Typewriter repair shops found that a lot of women/secretaries were typing too fast and hitting letters that were too close together repeatedly as they were the most used. This was a problem for typewriters since it would cause the arms of letters use to cross with the last one used. So what was the solution? They scrambled the letters on the keyboard! And that's how we got the QWERTY keyboard! Did it slow the typists down? Only for a short time, but it spread out the most used keys so they didn't cross as much!

People getting angry at baby-reins/child-leashes is hilarious. Why wouldn't you want kids to be safe? A friend had someone be snarky with her and say "You're treating him like a dog!" when she was minding her nephew and her reply hit the nail on the head. Something like "No... my dog doesn't need a leash because he knows to not run off and comes to me if I call his name. A three year old doesn't"

I read an article once, written by a woman who made that mistake and whose daughter did tragically die that way. It was haunting. She wasn't writing it to try and defend herself, but she wanted to explain how it happened and how her mind was stuck in her routine, so that other people are able to realize that YES, it is a mistake they might make, so they should take these precautions, no matter how ridiculous it might seem on the surface that you might forget all about your child. I felt terrible for her. It must be a crushing amount of guilt to carry with you, and I appreciate that she put herself out there to help keep other kids safe even though I'm sure she must have received plenty of backlash for the article.

Shoeless home.. I work as a volunteer paramedic (meaning I take shifts when I have time to do so - yes I have the same training as a full time paramedic just less experience) and I've encountered the "we don't wear shoes" twice during emergencies. Once in a private home where the wife of the person who had a heart attack wanted us to take off your shoes. Never had a doc flip out on a patient's relative, this time the emergency doc totaly snapped and packed up and said if you don't want help don't call us. - She later appologised and we put it on her stress that she totaly focused on such a weird thing. The second time we were called to a mosque and we had to get police involved because a) they didn't want my partner inside the men's only area, as she was a woman b) they wanted us to remove our shoes before entering. It didn't turn violent, but we refused to enter without shoes and if they wanted help they could bring the person outside if they didn't want her inside. When people started threatening us we called police (and if ems calls police there are so many convergeing on your position you've never known you have so many officers on duty). The Imam calmed his people beeing rather harsh and escorted us inside. We don't wear those big fucking shoes because we think they look cool, but they are protective gear, we don't wear gloves because I love haveing sweaty hands. Sorry had to rant. But yea, if you visit me and keep your shoes on, you wont be visting me a simple as that. But then, I have guest houseshoes.

I feel so bad for People who home school their kids for legitimately good reasons like illness or special needs reasons. It’s just weird and gross…
@waffles3629
@waffles3629 2 месяца назад
Yep, like there are valid reasons to homeschool. Not wanting your kids to learn about their bodies, evolution, and world history is not it though. Like I've met someone who was homeschooled up to 14 due to some condition she was born with that affected her spine and meant she needed surgery every 3 months until she stopped growing taller (sooner if she hit a growth spurt), and she'd be in the hospital for 2 weeks each time. Regular school doesn't really work for that. I also met someone who was homeschooled for religious reasons and her entire history education was reading the bible. When she turned 18 she had no idea what the president was (not who was the president, she didn't know anything about the US government), and knew basically nothing about her body. No, not just anything related to the reproductive system, the only internal organs she knew about were brain, lungs, heart and stomach. Thankfully she managed to get out from under their control, get a GED, and was applying to nursing school around the time we knew each other.

I made some quick researches about incest and why it's bad. I'm no expert, but apparently it's a symptome of very deep child/fmaily trauma and no sane person do incest. People doing incest had been traumatized very young and doesn't have an healthy relationship with intimancy. That's why incest and lgbt+ can't be compared. (No, Karen and Kevin, lgbt+ aren't created by trauma)
@lilianafinocchiaro1505
@lilianafinocchiaro1505 2 месяца назад
Also, if I'm not mistaken, if someone has a child as a product of incest, it's really likely that there are gonna be genetic and development conditions in the offspring, and an higher chance of having the child dying young due to these problems. Edit: but even if the invest didn't generate children, it still has the same problems that you pointed out before.
@unnameduser5647
@unnameduser5647 2 месяца назад
Dont know if what you said is the case, but what I know is that potential children produced by incest have (depending on how geneticly close the parents are) only a limited gene pool and genetic conditions that would otherwise not materialize, because they are recessive, appear. So its primarily bad because of people that actively get damaged by it (the children)
@SysterYster
@SysterYster 2 месяца назад
Normal people also have an innate aversiveness towards your siblings and close relatives, and are naturally drawn to people with a different accent/looks than ourselves because it's genetically bad with incest. It decreases survivability by a lot.
@tealkerberus748
@tealkerberus748 2 месяца назад
A couple of points: People who are genetically very closely related have an instinctive preference for each other's company. When they grow up together, this becomes normal familial love, or is overridden by negative family relationships, but when close relatives meet for the first time as adults, this preference can easily become romantic/sexual attraction. This is why kids who were adopted or have adopted siblings need to know about their family - there have been a number of cases documented where two people were married and had children together and then found out they were siblings, or occasionally other close relatives. Considering that most people don't ever do a DNA test with their spouse, it's likely that many more cases have existed that just never knew they were related. A second point: sibling incest was much more likely to lead to damaged babies back when people lived in small tribes and villages and nobody moved out or moved in for hundreds of years at a time. If your family tree looks kind of ladder-shaped because your ancestors haven't met someone who wasn't related to them in the past 300 years, then the probability of incest leading to bad consequences becomes much higher. In modern society, where people move to the other side of the planet on a whim, a couple in their early twenties who are full siblings (but whose parents were not related at all) and have a baby together are less likely to produce a baby with a genetic defect than a couple in their late forties who are unrelated. Incest is still a bad idea, but our strong instinctive disgust for intimacy with siblings evolved in the time when we lived in very close tribes and the potential risks were much higher than they are now.

Putting something important on the backseat to not forget about child is actually a thing (maybe "something you need to take with you leaving a car" would better wording). Few years ago I saw news about woman, who was supposed to drive her younger child to daycare before work (usually her husband did it). When she came to the daycare after work, staff told her her son wasn't there that day at all. She found him lifeless in the car. Some experts said in the article that When being tired and in routine, doing things automatically, our brains can fool us and make a false memory - we think we did something we just thought about. I can't imagine that woman and her family's horror. That's one of my biggest parent's fears, we work full time shifts 24/7, 2 small kids and are almost permanently exhausted (this and falling asleep while driving cause I'm night shifter mostly and have screwed sleeping routine). So yes, it's quite reasonable advice. Every little thing to avoid something like this is good. I heard also that in some country there is an obligatory equipment for child seats alarming driver if a child is left in parked car.

The same wouldn't be true between two 14yos, although it's lowly enforced and very unlikely that either will face criminal charges in that scenario. But the guardians might get in trouble

The shoe thing can also be cultural. In Japan it's customary to leave your shoes at the door in even public places like schools and restaurants, which provide "indoor shoes" and shoe lockers, because shoes that have been outside are unclean (and Japanese culture is heavily influenced by Shintoism, which emphasizes physical and spiritual cleanliness). Funnily enough my dad used to get really upset about us going barefoot in the house while my mom didn't care. His parents raised him to always wear shoes when he got dressed for the day, even indoors, so he tried to make us do the same. He doesn't bug us about it as much anymore tho. 25:00 Laughs in "In Greek mythology the moon goddess Selene made Zeus put her crush to sleep forever and then r worded him at least fifty times (she had fifty kids with him)."

It is cultural. But it's it also logical to not wanna bring outdoors shit (literally) indoors, into your carpets, bedroom, and kitchen? In most of Europe it's seen as really bad manners to walk in with your shoes on, and you'll sometimes see lazy kids literally crawling indoors to avoid taking off their shoes, but still keeping the floors clean if they forgot something indoors. 33:40 that is kinda what happens. During pregnancy the linea alba (the connective tissue between your abdominal muscles) gets stretched apart to make room for the fetus, so your abdominal muscles can actually separate, sometimes for months following the pregnancy. It's called Diastasis Recti, if anyone's interested. Source: Cleveland Clinic
