I once saw a guy in a Walmart with his concealed carry weapon barely visible under his jacket. Being a gunowner myself, though not a CCW holder, and not wanting him to get in trouble for "brandishing", I quietly informed him that his weapon was visible. He thanked me and adjusted his clothing properly. No muss, no fuss.
Legally there's a difference between actually brandishing and having a gun printing or slightly visible. In some states, yeah, they're not friendly at all, if it prints or peeks out even slightly, full on police called and such.
My state is unfortunately one of those. Although hopefully the attitude of law enforcement and the general public will improve now that "shall-issue" is the federal standard. Fingers crossed that all of the unconstitutional laws states are currently trying to put up will be struck down.
@@cherenkov_blue I just worry that this will cause Karen’s to want to get their own guns and start using them instead of snapping or grabbing people to get their will enforced, similar to the recent Walmart shooting.
Ok…first off pardon my ignorance I’m Canadian (but am pro legal gun ownership), but can somebody tell me what the point of concealed carry opposed to open carry is? I’m just wondering I’m not judging since we don’t have either here lol.
So true. I had a manager who did this to me, infront of customers and employees. And it was all not my fault, bc another employee was in the wrong. He tried to shush Karen-manager, but nope, she wouldn't listen. Well....I said bye and quit. Went to the boss first and told him what a B*tch she was and than, here are my clothes and bye bye.
Whenever you reprimand a person you always do it in private. My old supervisor, pulled our leading hand aside one time, telling him when he reprimands someone do it in private.
Praise in public, punish in private. Unless I was a higher supervisor seeing that Karen manager berate op, then public punishment is justified. The manager embarrassed op, so deserved to be embarrassed as well. And demoted to stocker.
Story 1: Causing a panic attack, assaulting two people, lying about person with said panic attack. You really wonder what sort of lives these people lived to make them this much of an A-hole to everyone
Usually one where they weren’t held accountable for there actions in adolescence and there usually the children of the people released from asylums when they shut them down in the 70s and 80s when they dumped all the patients out in society
I don't usually condone violence unless in self-defense, but let's be real, it's a surprise that a majority of these Karens don't get laid out by the people they harass or outright assault. You know the old adage about poking bears...
@@LycorisOni Well, when you get middle-aged trophy wives who're desperately grasping for some semblance of relevancy or control in their lives, that translates to Karens with superiority complexes who think that it's okay to literally assault people just because they work at a store.
Never been in military, but I would definitely call my branch if I was and inform them of some cops who were hassling me over another person‘s actions so that they may know real consequences for their abuse of power. Probably not legal/allowed and likely doesn’t happen because it might be hypocritical. Definitely file internal affairs report against the officers/Station.
Story 2. Just about any class you take in managing people will say, "praise publicly, reprimand privately." A manager should never chastise an employee in front of either another employee or a customer.
@@oldmanjim2376 Same, she doesn't deserve any kind of power immediately assuming the customer is right and berating the 'employee' infront of said customer, emberassing them for possibly no reason. Not to mention being yelled at isn't fun eitherway, I would've been beyond pissed at that point
I had that happen to me once. I mentioned that the server confused my order of "salmon steak" with "salmon *and* steak". The manager yelled at her in front of me and I felt so bad. It threw off her whole night. I haven't seen someone that thrown off their groove since spongebob got accused of forgetting the pickles. Needless to say she got a big tip.
I'd just simply say "Well whenever he is, it's clear he never came back to ya. But hey, hopefully you snagged the silver medal of men from your love life!"
It's new york though so they ran him through the ringer for what they could for being a victim and likely gave the old karen a lenient fine and some community service.
When I was promoted some years back, my then boss said, "I'll give you just one bit if advice in managing staff, RIP & PIP, reprimand in private, praise in public" it will never fail you". 30 years on and about to retire, that bit of advice has been my personal mantra, and he was right, it's never failed me.
I was afraid that when Karen tried to grab OP's gun, she would accidentally shoot him, being she was idiot enough to try to do that in the first place. So happy OP wasn't shot by his own gun!
Story 3 -Why did OP have to go through "retraining" ? What do they think he needs to be reminded of? There's nothing in the course that tells you what to do when a Karen accosts you! And really - the cops had the video footage, why was he still charged with brandishing a gun?? He shouldn't have to pay a lawyer to get the charges dropped - I'd sue the police and the DA's office for at least lawyer's fees!
This is why it was so important to get Supreme Court justices that rule on the basis of WHAT THE CONSTITUTION SAYS instead of some crack-brained social concept.
Story 4, I can relate. My sisters started Marco Polo in Walmart when they couldn't find me or our parents. Everyone thought it was hilarious and sometimes joined in.
My family has a special whistle we use in stores to find each other. On one occasion, I was whistling for my elderly, 4'10" mother when another shopper looked at me and said, "I just holler 'Marco,' and listen for the 'Polos!'"
My little brother and i did this growing up and now my wife and i do its so funny because the Walmart we shop at knows me from being a regular and her because her mother works there so the employees will join is as will other shoppers
I was kinda lost on a blueberry farm and started hollering "Marco" at the top of my voice... I followed the "Polo"s until I found my party. Turns out they never heard me! (I didn't realize there were other people out picking at the same time.)
Listening from the UK, I feel that these Karens are in *real* need of psychiatric help. Over here, they wouldn't be arrested, but detained for mental evaluation.
@@joehung1552 I know. I’m old enough to have been yelling at the tv & calling my congress members to tell them it was a very bad idea. Reagan was a menace.
I had a woman approach me at the Supermarket that sounds like Ogre where I shop. She started with the “excuse me” and snapping her fingers in my face. I smiled at her and asked “Do you like those fingers?” Her jaw dropped. I then said “ If you like those finger’s don’t snap them in my face or I will break them off. I do not work here and I do not care if you try to get me fired because, again, I do not work here and if you touch me again (she tried to turn me around by the shoulder) I will have you charged with assault”. She ran to a manager yelling for a cop but the manager told her she would be banned if she didn’t stop bothering other customers.
Finally, someone who gets it! Never start with the 'I'm sorry...' crap. Stop it from the get go. Do you like where those fingers are currently attached? You can't get me fired from a place I don't work. But I CAN get you trespassed for assaulting a fellow customer. How can so many people be so confused about how to stand up for themselves?
@@johnrussell5592 Maybe some people have anxiety about confrontations. (I’m one of those people unless I’m totally pissed off.) As for the snapping fingers in front of your face, I’m with you. That is so annoying.
@@darcybrummett7004 I had confrontation anxiety when I was single. Then I got into a relationship. Kids happened, as they do, and as time passed, those kids entered the school system. I lost my reticence regarding confrontation when the bullying began. I backed off the parents of student bullies, and the faculty bullies all the same. Nothing positive ever starts with an apology. That's a fundamental.
I once wore a red shirt to Target that had STAFF written on the back, but it was a gift from a friend who worked at a Racetrack. The woman who asked me if I worked at Target was very nice when I said no and turned to face her. This was at a time when we didn't know about KARENS. She apologized and went on her way
I'm 6'2", and most of my interactions involve "can you get this item from a top shelf", if they go any further than "sorry to bother you". But whats surprising is that I've had more people approach me since I left retail than I did while I was working retail. Like, every time I go shopping, I get 2-3 people asking if I work there (I'm generally in jeans or carhartts, t-shirt or flannel shirt, with a cabelas baseball cap). My wife's theory is that its because I look happier and more relaxed now.
Story 2 - I would have insisted that the second manager reprimand the first manager while I watched. If she's going to embarrass me in front of customer, then she deserves a taste of her own medicine.
The fact that OP had to take classes and reapply for permits for something that wasn't even his fault angers me. It's like he was punished for existing.
Where's the beef? Talk about a missed opportunity to say "Ma'am, this isn't a Wendy's" then to walk away while she gets confused by ancient commercial references mixed with modern meme references.
Story 4, had almost the same thing happen in South Florida, cops confiscated my brand new SB92 with about 100 rounds through it sighting it in and getting to know the weapon. It took 18 months to get the weapon back from the police and it was basically worn out from use and abuse and hardly ever getting cleaned, after all it wasn't their weapon. Needless to say it took another 3 years in court to get them to reimburse me for the cost of a new gun. They never did anything about officers removing property from the impound area for their personal use and then just returning it. Several weapons were later found to have been used in unlawful ways and the owners were arrested for the crime. Don't know what happened in those cases but the weapons were used in the offenses while in police custody and not the owners!
Story 3: Not really sure how trying to pull a gun off of someone was really going to help, because that can make people think that Karen was going to pull a gun on everyone. Well, some people just never learned to not lay hands.
Karen batshit insane and probably would've shot OP while he was still handcuffed. Hopefully her punishment will put her in her place, but we can only hope.
Apparently I just have the look of an employee because I can go to Walmart, Target, Michael’s or Hobby Lobby and if I slowly shop I almost 100% am guaranteed to get asked where something is, regardless of what I’m wearing. I have no clue why. Thankfully, maybe sadly, I never get Karens tho.
Happens to me sometimes but luckily it always was solved with a polite "Oh, I don't work here but I think I happened to come by it somewhere around [vague item location]"
Get the same thing no matter where I am or what I am wearing. For example, shopping at Walmart wearing a yellow high vis jacket so bright, it can be seen from orbit, and people still ask me where stuff is. And then they get upset when I won't answer them or help, because I learned a long time ago to never help such people.
@@jeanettewaverly2590 probably one never can avoid stupidity, from the stories i see on yt mostly people who are just slowly taking their time, minding their own, often even with headphones on are mistaken for lazy employees... but from your story i hear that one is not even safe by acting confident... 🤦♀️ can't avoid contact with ignorent people either way apparently 🤣
The Walmart Karen vs. the CCW guy was utterly ridiculous. It is stupid that he had to even get a lawyer involved after the security footage. And her assaulting him.
As someone who has had panic attacks in the past, the first story really pissed me off. It baffles me that anyone can be that oblivious or selfish, but then I remember that Karens rarely follow logical thought.
The problem with Target is that their uniform is just a red shirt, ANY red shirt. I’ve worn a red shirt there multiple time and people have asked me for help. I usually say “I don’t work here but I think what you’re looking for is down isle X, I should know better than wear a red shirt in here”
Story 3 OP did the common sense thing of looking as little of a threat as possible by holding their hands up and keeping their distance despite not being in the wrong legally, it would have been hard to argue their case from the afterlife
@@Godzilladino I mean from the point of view of the police expecting the worst from whatever stories they've been told, if they arrive and his hands are up, they'll be more relaxed. Better to fight your case after the fact than get shot over a stupid misunderstanding
@@DorifutoRabbit I'm definetly not against him putting his hands up, I just don't get that they saw a guy who didn't seem anything like a threat and still decided he's a threat
@@DorifutoRabbit BS, if the cops wanna shoot you they don't care if your armed or not, hands up or not, amputee, or whatever and they are going to lie about it regardless.
Learned this from the Army back in '74. Praise in public, punish in private. Always reminded me of my grandfather sayings i.e. The problem with common sense...it's not common. I miss pappy.
Last story Karen Beth got off easy, instead of being pranked by OP and the employees in the store, she could have left in handcuffs on an assault charge. Its nice she grew as a person because of the lesson.
If I was the OP in story 3 I'd have gone up the chain of command and demand they had better train THEIR cops better before I sue their entire department into the ground for slamming me on the ground when I had my hands up and away from my gun, which they could see! Also did I mishear that OP was a veteran? Trying to charge an INNOCENT VETERAN? That's fucked up, and the cops that slammed him down should be in jail for a long time!
Gun unfriendly states tend to elect gun unfriendly PD Chiefs and Sheriffs. He was good on lawyering up, the cops will just say they did an internal review of their training and blah blah blah while doing nothing.
I've never PURPOSEFULLY gone into a store wearing clothes the colors of a store's uniform, but if I'm going out and about having fun or running errands I'm not going to over think it either. I've got red shirts, blue shirts, green shirts, black shirts and a few others. I'm going to wear what's clean and comfortable. Funny thing is though, I never seem to have a problem telling employees and customers apart. I don't understand why so many other people do. As for that idiot manager, after telling me she'd been there 8 years I'd be asking her: "Then who am I, what department do I work in?" type questions until she apologized to me. But I would still report her to corporate for her unprofessionalism.
Story 1 - All I know is if some Karen tries to assault me, they are ending up on the ground (found out recently I have PTSD which... May explain some of my anger issues)
Happens to me. Depending on how they approach me, I will either be “Sorry, I do not work here” or “I don’t @!?% work here! @&¥£ off!” And it does not matter how I look. One time, I had on a jacket with huge “VALET” across the back of it and was at a landscaping place. Outright ignored the guy. Another I was in a worn Duke Blue Devils jersey and pants with holes in them and some geezer starts yelling at me about why there are no blank cassettes. One time a woman starts yelling at me when I was getting beaten up by a migraine and I cursed her out. I was in a pharmacy in a mall looking for Tylenol.
For me, a single person yelling, "This idiot has a gun," is cause for investigation but not panic: my mind immediately assumes what she's saying is true: it's an idiot with a gun. I wouldn't think active killer or even armed robbery: either some idiot playing with his gun or someone being silly and open carrying.
Darkfluff's voice is like a velvet painting that you can't help but rub your face against. Then you realize there's a picture of a clown. Wow my childhood was disturbing....
I used to work for Target and managers like the Karen manager are honestly the norm. Hostile, doesn’t really know their employees, and when it comes down to it they would never have their employees’ backs, perceived or not. If it means keeping a customer, even if they’re actually a detriment to business, they’ll happily throw someone under the bus, especially lower level employees. Wal Mart gets a bad rep but Target is just as bad.
10:48 I know murder is wrong but I think it should be acceptable for Op to have murdered the Karen now only once but twice so far she tried to murder Op that's self-defense there was a reasonable belief Op could have died
That's gun-unfriendly states for you. Even if they allow you to carry legally it is up to the CCW holder to always be the moral high ground and knowing all the local laws and regs when carrying. And to always keep your cool even when you know you can't. I'm guessing he's in Massholechusetts.
Way too many states are run by big "gubmint" clowns who see the people as subjects instead of citizens. Makes me sick. Another problem is that there are WAY too many entitled jerks out there who like to put their hands on other people without permission.
First story: Karen is going to get charge with: one count of assault, two count of assault and battery, one count of harassment, one count of lying to the police, one count of disturbing the peace, and one count of assaulting an law enforcement officer. The one count of assault is when she grab OP's arm and spun her around to face her, the two count of assault and battery is when she slap the manager and the arresting officer, the harassment is when she start yelling at OP, the lying to police is kind of a no brainer, disturbing the peace is when she cause a scene, and the assault on the law enforcement officer is also a no brainer. Second Story: The Karen need to be banned from every Target across the country while the responding Manager should be discipline by taking proper de-escalation training as something tells me she never took one in her eight years of being with the Target she works at. Third story: Yea that Karen must be blind as if OP really does work there then how come he's not in uniform. Also OP shouldn't have gotten charge as he didn't do anything to the Karen. She the one that started everything. The cops jump the gun there as instead of lowering their weapon when they see OP with his hands up they kept the weapon trained on him. Fourth Story: Talk about a happy ending.
With regards to the shouty manager, when I worked for Walmart one of the assistant managers got fired for giving a dressing down to another employee in public.
Story 3 is one of many reasons why states can no longer require a "good reason" to carry a concealed weapon. If almost nobody has a CCW, people like Karen can overreact (either genuinely, or in her case maliciously) and get a completely law-abiding citizen arrested, or even killed. It's a whole new layer of BS that this guy had to reapply for his permit and take another safety course _even after his charges were dropped._ Karen should be the one doing the safety course, not him.
Story 3: I hope OP sued the city and filed official complaints against the officers. I would do everything in my power to make the city pay maximum dollar for what they did.
Story 2: I was so incensed by the Karen Manager's behavior, that when the second manager showed up I was ready to scream, "JFC! What now! I told the other manager, I don't F'ing work here! I'm leaving and never coming back."
I’ve spent a lot of time in Walmarts and Target and I am so happy I have never encountered a “Karen” however I did meet one at a 7/11 once crazy stuff.
Can we tag Karens, like wild animals? I keep wondering if there's only several hundred of these Karen's around but they're just causing mayhem wherever they go
Story 3: I'm really not familiar with gun laws, so maybe someone could explain to me: What exactly did the OP do wrong so that he needed extra lessons and it took a year to get his gun back? He wore a gun, as permitted, and literally got assaulted. This was completely out of his control, no?
Being a gun owner and a CWP holder I always practice with multiple clothing styles to see how well my firearm is concealed before going out. And all honesty it was the Karen's fault for doing this reckless thing and the man should NOT have had his weapon taken, because what if said person gets jumped by someone else with a gun right after he leaves the store or home. I know it's the law but you should not have your protection taken away.
story 3: so they point guns at you, assault you, steal your guns and then KNOWINGLY file false charges against you, OP please tell us you didn't just take all that and walk away? report these crooked cops.
Story #3 him still being charged after the cops already looked at the video evidence really pisses me off; I guess that's the kind of thing that's more likely to happen in a state without even open carry
Here in sunny Florida, CCW is legal (with proper permit) but open carry is illegal. I can see this happening. Still, the cops, once seeing the video, should not have still charged OP. Hope he sued that Karen for full repayment of legal and court costs.
The third story actually pissed me off. They had video evidence that OP didn’t do anything, was the victim of assault, and someone else was the only reason it ever became visible. And yet they fight him over his property, try to press charges, and make him go through a ton of hassle when he was in the right from the start. God that raised my blood pressure and I’m not even a gun owner. I’m terrified of guns. But that’s not right on any level
if I had a store manager/supervisor go off on me because some Karen's lost her mind, I'd turn the tables and ask to speak to their superior because screw them and their lousy attitude, they sound like the kind of person who deserves their own localized disaster.
Open / concealed carry in America is like having a bear spray that makes you smell extra tasty and arousing to bears. I have yet to hear a story where it doesn't make it worse for the carrier.
There are no stories unless something goes wrong. Most people who conceal carry just do it and you'd never know. If you live in America, you're probably friends with someone who carries a weapon and you dont even know it. They don't usually advertise it 🙂
In the carry permit course, they tell you the first thing you do… Have your permit out, as the cops approach you hold it with two fingers above your head, I have a permit go check the cameras. I know I commented already but this is made me so freaking furious. There is literally no excuse for the cops to treat you like that if you have a valid permit. You were wrong for not holding it out first. But other than that you did nothing wrong, and you were treated like a criminal. That is such bullcrap
Veteran Armed OP: That is one of the reasons that I do not have a CC permit. I also do not have a gun permit, since I do not trust myself to not use the thing automatically if someone were to burst into my house unannounced (i.e. ATF, DEA, etc.)
The beef is in customer service, obviously. I hope things like most of these stories never happen to me, but at least if something along these lines does -- and the right people, at minimum, are reasonable -- I have a place to talk about it. I won't try to bait it, but there are certain things I won't stop doing just to prevent it: reaching for items for strangers; helping my mother shop; putting things back if I decide I don't want them; existing in or near the store, apparently...
I've had a couple of people ask me for help at Target when I've worn a red shirt while shopping there. Luckily they understand when I tell them that I don't work here! Lol!
The fact that even with footage showing he didn't do anything they still tried to go after him for brandishing it. Like just what the hell were they thinking? They literally had the evidence that he didn't do anything and in fact was getting assaulted.
@@fluidwolf I think it had to be proven in court but some states are extremely strict due to public fear of guns in my state an owner got charged with murder despite it being a clear act of self defense the only reason he was able to walk free was because the public outcry to release him
If I was the person in story 2, I would have turned on the Karen and asked the manager. "What's your name? Who's YOUR manager? Because I don't work here, you let another customer assault me and then you JOINED in assaulting me! I want YOU fired and I want HER kicked out AND BANNED NOW! I'll fucking take this up to corporate headquarters IN PERSON if I have to."
Its unfortunate that despite the video footage the police were still charging the guy with brandishing and intimidation and he needed to get a lawyer to present the very footage the police reviewed, to get him cleared like WTF. Not only that he's the one who was assaulted to start with. I wonder if the karen could have been made to pay his legal fees, technically she is the one who brandished the weapon by lifting his shirt without his permission. Ridiculous.
I used to live behind a Kmart. Don't wear headphones in the store. Kmart had to ban headphones because of fights breaking out. Because someone was wearing headphones, they didn't hear something, so they go mad about the person standing behind them, getting bumped with a cart, et al.
Don't get why the CCW holder lost the gun for so long, it got visible because of the Karen's assault, how is that his problem? You can't plan for shirt pulling when concealing... ridiculous!
It's become clear that one should never reply to a Karen with "I'm sorry" or "please". Karens don't hear those words as politeness, but as a lesser being pleading with.
Another thing that's even worse than the managers who placate KARENS is the security guards who would listen to a Karen before they check security tapes or before they got both sides of the story! Those people make me sick too! Like the one story where the Karen trying to force the OP (who was blind by the way)! Let their daughter pet their service animal. And then the Karen told the security guard that the OP wasn't blind, and was faking it because "her cousin is blind and of course don't you know that blind people all look the same and their eyes all have to do that 1,000-yard stare thing because if they don't that means they're not blind!" And the security guard said "ma'am are you really blind can you prove it?", Like that burned me that story comes up every once in awhile and every time I hear it I want to just go to the store where that security guard is and grab them by the throat that's just infuriating!
She doesn't need to prove she's blind anyway. Whether she's blind or not has no bearing on the security guard whatsoever. He's just a little snot who doesn't know how to respect customers and should be reprimanded.
14:30 Karen's take note: you can get someone tackled (might even damage a joint, get them a life-long injury) by screaming "gun". No gun need be present to get your target taken to the ground and in cuffs. A+ Police work there, boys.
"Where's the dog food?" Read the signs. Walmart has all their aisles and departments labeled. There's always a big sign that says "Pets". The only time I ever ask for help finding something in Walmart is when it's something that could be in multiple places and I'm having trouble finding it. A couple of examples would be once I asked about marshmallow crème because they moved it, and once I asked about back scratchers because I wasn't even sure if they carried them. Some places put marshmallow crème near the peanut butter, some put it in baking supplies, sometimes its in other places. Depends on the store. Back scratchers seemed like they should be in housewares, though apparently Walmart (when they actually stock them) put them in medical equipment with things like canes and slings. Other than more obscure things like that, I find things myself using the signs.
When the Pandemic was in full swing, the local Walmart decided it would be a fine idea to move the facemasks around on the regular, so you never knew where in the hell they were. Had to ask employees several times where they had been moved to, only to find them on some random endcap. I always made sure it was an actual employee first before asking, though...
@@robertc.9503 - Yeah, endcap items are another one of those kooky things that get moved around a lot, though medical masks should be stocked in medical supplies, even if part of the stock is placed on endcaps for convenience. If that wasn't the case, well, that corporate retail I guess. But I agree, and have said before, always look for the logo.
#1 Psycho Karen won't bother OP for some time. They have all they need to get Karen to trial and get her in prison for a few years. Assault, at least twice. Assault against an on duty police officer. Refusal to comply. Resisting arrest. Perjury. #2 So, Karen and enabling Karen assault a simple customer who just happen to have a single piece of clothing with the store's colour... Karen manager should get fired for that. As for the first Karen, she need a ban of at least 6 months. #3 OP did NOT look anything near like a store employee. What is it with those Karens who decide that some random person MUST be an employee when it's pretty obvious that they are not ?
The Last Story, I didn't understand that the cashier was putting the groceries that Opie helped into the bags and was taking the groceries that the Karen wanted and putting them to the side so she ended up buying all the Opie picked groceries but didn't buy any of hers and then came back like an hour later! I was literally dying when I read that! Like yeah the throwing of the Angry Birds in the kakaw, yeah that's kind of funny but putting extra stuff in the in the car and then literally not telling her any what she wanted but only the extra stuff that was in the car? That was pure genius comedy gold!
