@@MrKilleralien Nah. But the Finnish justice system is stupid. You protect yourself and your home with kitchen knife against gun men and you get fines if you manage to damage the assailants. This actually happened. Not to mention known criminals getting 200000€ compensation for SUPO going after a lead of the said criminals knowingly plotting violent attack against SUPO ( SUPO is the Finnish special police force ) and then yelling religious threats at the police officer who detained them and towards Finnish citizens. More on that one on r/Finland. So yeah. Never fully trust Finnish justice system.

She got 6 months in jail. Which is the max for what she was convicted of (simple assault). She must have had a really good lawyer cause what she was charged with(Agravated Assault) that is years in Prison. It's not that karens think everyone works there. It's just that they cannot conceive of the concept of their own judgement being wrong, so once they have (incorrectly) gotten the idea that somebody works there (for whatever reason), that becomes reality for them and they will not accept any other possibility. And the reason they always assume people are lying when they say "I don't work here" is because *that is exactly what they would do* if they were an employee somewhere (lie to avoid doing work), so they assume everybody else treats other people the same way they would.

I have a bonus grandson who's somewhere on the autism spectrum. He's in the later 20's now and he's a big boy, so luckily I think most people, even Karens, would hesitate to assault him. I've known him since he was 10yrs old. And I never try to even give him a hug without asking him. (I get them, usually the one arm side hugs that young men & boys like to offer) So when I was @ my father's funeral, I was actually surprised (&touched) that he came up to me and gave me a hug &pats on the back. I know that if something like this we're to happen to either of HER sons, my daughter in law would've been a very scary Mama-Bear. And my son would also be extremely angry.(He's a big guy too, so he can look very intimidating. (He's not a scary person but, like I said, he's a Big guy.)

My 12-year-old has an "I don't work here" story, but it's not very dramatic. We'd just been at a public transportation hub to get her a new bus card. She lost the last one, so I got her a lanyard for the new one, so that she wouldn't misplace it. You can probably see where this is going. LOL We stopped at a store on the way home, and my daughter drifted off toward the toy section while I picked up what I needed. A few minutes later, my daughter found me again, and I noticed she was wearing her lanyard. I told her, "Look! You're wearing a name tag," and laughed. Her eyes got big, and she said, "Oooh, that explains it." Turns out someone asked her for help in the toy section. I think it was just to reach something from a high shelf (She's very tall for her age) or similar, and she hadn't been able to figure out why they thought she worked there.

My Malignant Covert Narcissist sister did not sense the danger of walking alongside a street with no sidewalk in the same direction of the cars the drive mere inches away from her and even with her at-the-time infant son.

Common sense says to walk against the flow of traffic so that you can see and avoid the oncoming vehicles.

@@JamesDavy2009: Not only that, but there was a study done (I think it was back in the late 90s or maybe the early 2000s) that said that the main reason you walk against the flow of traffic is so that people can see your face, thus recognizing that you’re a person. Now, whether the unconscious recognition as a person translates to a conscious action from that driver, is a whole other question to be tackled.

Story 3: "Assault"? That doesn't even require contact. "Sentence suspended"? For an intentional, unprovoked, bloody attack on a minor that knocked the victim unconscious and *required* a trip to the ER? Yeah, this woman deserves _decades_ in prison or a high security mental hospital.

3rd story really enrages me! Who had the audacity to take the poor kid's bike while all of this was happening?! And the lady or the store didn't have to pay for a new one?! I'd file a lawsuit against the lady and order her to pay for more than medical expenses! I just hope the poor kid is doing okay and got a new bike.

Can we talk about the Manager from story two? His first question wasn't even to ask OP his side of the story. He immediately went to asking OP who his supervisor was and assuming him guilty. Even when OP clearly didn't work there, how many times has the Karen in this story done this before? How many times did this manager just placate to the Karen and potentially fire people just to appease her? I would be calling corporate as well for his awful managing skills!

Story 2: I would not have been able to control myself if I were in OPs shoes. The officer would have arrived on the scene to find me on my knees with my hands behind my head already, and would arrive with the paramedics I called for Karen after I showed her how big of a mistake she made. Honestly, I'm surprised she didn't freak out about possibly catching whatever disease she thought OP had. She was never actually concerned about OPs condition. She just wanted to shame OP.

Lived most of my life in Calif. primarily Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. Pick ANY year and search Calif wild fires for reference. We have had many brush fires (measured in 10K acres or more) that started out as camp fires and even "controlled burns" that went wild when a gust of wind hit it. 35 kt winds gusting to 50 kt turns a canyon into a blow torch.

Crazy fire Karen story: There is absolutely nothing safe about being around a "controlled" burn. It only takes a shift in the wind direction and/or a sudden gust of wind to change a controlled burn into an out of control wildfire. Target Karen story: OP, keep in contact with that officer and try to find out WHEN her trial (or at least when her arraignment) takes place and maybe talk to the prosecutor in the case. Given that it's likely to be her "first" offense (at least one she got arrested for) maybe the prosecutor would be willing to "give her a deal" in exchange for the replacement of your ear buds. Worth a try anyway. Skull vs can of chili story: I'm somewhat surprised OP didn't have a skull fracture as well (or he did and wasn't told). A concussion on top of the scalp wound as well was bad enough. Hopefully, she lost her job over this if she had one and wound up have CPS investigate her fitness as a parent provided she was one. Dresses story: I'm certain a polka dot dress with a raincoat has to be a clothing store uniform somewhere. Aren't you? On her butt Karen story: At least she was shamed enough to leave the store without having to get the manager, security and the police involved. Imagine that!

Story 3 (title story): I'm an EMT. I've seen a lot of things. So when I say I was concerned for that kid, you have context. Kids are very resilient, and less likely to be knocked unconscious. This kid not only was knocked out, but he kept lapsing. There's some serious damage, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if there are/were lingering or permanent effects. Keeping my profession in mind, heed me when I say the woman in the first story should be charged with endangerment; not only of her own child, but of the fire crew. They're that close to a live burn, and not able to focus on it completely because they're dealing with her insanity. And the guy in the second story... I do feel really bad for him. People have disfiguring conditions. Big f'ing deal. If it interests you so much, go get educated about it! Don't pull a Karen and throw a fit.

Story one: Not an I don't work here story, but an "I don't think here!" It might be hard to believe even a Karen can be that stupid and entitled, but I have known worse. We had a Karen in my ER demand the doctor who was rescusitating a cardiac patient "See my son right now!" for his very minor ankle sprain. She actually tried to take the defibrillator away form him! Even worse, my brother was in charge of the police response to a robbery in progress with the bandits in the bank with hostages when a Karen walked right past the SWAT team and headed in to use the ATM! She actually had to be forcibly restrained at the front entrance, and the hostage negotiator (brother) had the robber call out and ask what was with the crazy woman! Some people simply live in their own world.

In South Australia, volunteer fire-fighters have the right to arrest anyone who is interfering with them during a fire this includes police. They can be banned from the fire service if they disobey their orders or endanger people's lives or property. My sister was the person who trained fire-fighting instructors and she placed a police officer under arrest because he refused to move out of her way, she also had 3 senior fire-fighters removed from the fire service because of their complete incompetence. She is only just over 5 feet tall with blonde hair and blue eyes, but she can take out men twice her weight and out perform any fire-fighter.

Holy cow, the third story hit close to home, although I didn't have an "I don't work here" situation. The mention of OP's injury and the nature of it did because I've been in an almost similar situation. My situation is considered an accident and it happened in Stavropol (a rather big city in South Russia in the Caucasian Mountains area). I was being in this playground center with my distant cousin Kira to keep an eye on her, who at the time was 3 years old but would be turning 4 in a month, while her grandma was shopping with my grandparents in an entirely different shopping center. Everything go well, until I decide to slide down a tube slide and didn't take into account an angle at the end of the tube and I hit it. At first, I thought that I just hit that angle really hard because I felt some pain and I had to hold my head for a while. Only when I take my hands of the head, I see my fingers covered in blood and one blood drop falling to the ball pit. I scream for help and some employees help me get me somewhat clean, others looked after Kira and one notified Kira's grandma about the incident. I didn't feel dizzy in the slightest, my vision didn't even multiple, I just was scared and shaken. I ended up needing stiches and I think I got 5 - 6 of them. My stiches was removed 13 days later and that was a rather unpleasant sensation (it just didn't feel good during the removal). I now have a scar on my scalp as a reminder, but that incident scarred me in a rather weird way. Ever since then, I'm afraid of blood withdrawals, not blood in general, blood withdrawals. I literally have to close my eyes if I have to take a blood test in an attempt to make things a bit more bareable for me. As for Kira, she was scared too, but she literally demanded her dad to tell her about my hospital visit and treatment over and over again, and then she dealt with it by playing with her dad that she got into the same accident and her dad has to give her stiches.

On the story with Karen interfering with The Fire Department they should have just called the Police the first time she would not leave. I have heard stories of Karens causing problems for ambulances and other responders too. They often clearly have some sort of mental disorder. There is no other reason why they cause the problems they do. Any sane person who can see reason would not cause the problems or if they did they would quickly realize they are causing a problem, apologize and finally comply with the *lawful* orders!!

I ALMOST had an IDWH story. I was travelling for work and staying in a hotel room. I was composing an email on my tablet when I realized I needed some information from my truck. I left my room with my tablet under my arm. When I walked through the hotel lobby, an old woman was waiting impatiently at the front desk. We made eye contact, and I just got the sense she thought I was an employee and expected service from me, probably because I was holding a tablet and walking with purpose. I just strolled past to the exit. On the way back, my instincts were confirmed. She was now with a man who must have been her husband who asked me if I was another guest. I said yes and just kept walking. The way he said it suggested that she mistook people for employees all the time, and was probably compaining about me ignoring her to him after I left.

i am a volunteer fire fighter in germany, we hardly have fire fighters that do work full time for the fire brigade, only in big cities or companies with highly flammable substances or dangerous chemicals. we are trained, we have to train regularly in our free time, we do not get paid to do so yet people steal our equipment, interfere with our work, complain about sirens or where we park our fire trucks or the ambulance. people film others whoos live is in danger yet they don't call the emergency hotline or give first aid (wich is mandatory here and punishable by law), they block first responders, paramedics and fire fighters. we are not the police, we don't control you, we don't give out fines, we ceep you save. if we say you should stay back, you should stay back because it is saver for you or necessary to save someone else. fire and vehicles are always dangerous. saying "this is a controlled fire it should be save here" is that same as saying "oh drivers do have a license they know where the breaks are, my child is allowed to play on the road" save is a broad definition. if the fire was save there would be no firefighters, and it would be in a fire pit or a BBQ. sometimes I just wanna punch people for being so stupid they endanger themselves, especially if get blaimed by law because they couldn't follow a simple order like: "please leave, it's dangerous here"

So I was just googling around about stories where adults attacked kids and what kind of sentences they were getting. OMG, so many soft-on-crime judges and prosecutors out there who DON'T give adults jail time for assaulting and injuring CHILDREN. Some of the reasons for no jail time ... adult is 'too good of a person'; 'adult didn't mean to hurt the child', etc etc etc. Just sit here and shake my head. If ANY adult had harmed, or tried to harm, any of my kids when they were younger, Well those adults wouldn't be around any longer.
