Last song of the night for the clean up crew at a church in St Paul, MN. Epiphany moment for me to hear every note so clearly in a church basement instead of elsewhere. Seriously soulful moment to never forget. Choir of angels, our future! 💕
I knew all the people were going to come out when I made a statement on RU-vid. You are all correct, to a certain extent. If the man has so much talent, and, creativity, why, could he not maintain discipline with his actions in the way he thinks. I'm a 100% heterosexual male and love women of all shapes and sizes to no extent, but, he made way more money than me, and I still had more sense to refrain. People are going to come out and say that all that money made him crazy, no, it did not. He was a sexual deviant to begin with. There's a line from one of the best movies ever called the Bronx Tale. It quotes that there is nothing sadder in life then wasted Talent. The man is 46 years old and he's done for life. The only thing that all that money and millions of dollars in his bank account is going to get him is a lot of soups from the commissary and free phone calls. Because he's going to federal prison hard workers in the world like myself, our tax dollars will be paying for him to sit Kush. In no way, was I being racist sexist or bigoted in any way. The same goes for sports players. You are given a gift from the Lord above to be able to perform, play, or act and make millions. This is nothing but 100% pure f***** up thinking.
South African people you are fake. You appreciate a black when he is a rich. I can’t understand how you could treat badly other africans because you think your african brothers get rich when they come to your country. All Africa was crying for you but now you are against other Africans. Shame on you
I am. My dad used to play this, it just brings back so many of my childhood memories me and him riding in the car, back then I didn't know that this song came off the soundtrack.
This song is from the point of view of batman. It's actually genius. He sees what Gotham should be, not what it is. He wants Gotham to be a place that is safe and full of love. Probably the best superhero song ever written and shows a side of batman that few people see. Bruce Wayne is driven by the hope that things can eventually get better.
IM GONNA SAY THIS TO U PERSONALLY- NO ONE AND I MEAN NO ONE COULDVE SAID THAT BETTER THAN U! YOU ACTUALLY BROUGHT TEARS TO MY EYES WITH THAT- THAT GIFT U GAVE ME- FINER THAN ANYTHING ELSE- WISDOM, AND NOTHING ELSE CAN BE COMPARED TO IT!!!!!!!!!!!
A CITY OF JUSTICE, A CITY OF LOVE- A CITY OF PEACE FOR EVERYONE OF US- WE ALL NEED IT, CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT IT- GOTHAM CITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND ITS NOT PROBABLY THE BEST SUPERHERO SONG EVER WRITTEN- IT IS- BECAUSE IT ABOUT THE SIDE OF HIM THAT PEOPLE DO SEE- THIS IS THE SIDE THAT DRIVES HIM TO GO OUT EACH AND EVERY NIGHT AND FIGHT FOR THE INNOCENT, DELIVER VENGANCE UPON THE WICKED, AND GUIDE THE CITY FROM THE DARKNESS OF THE NIGHT, FROM WHICH THE WICKED FIND REFUGE, AND INTO THE SANCTITY AND SALVATION OF THE DAYLIGHT- ITS MY CITY, YOUR CITY, HIS CITY, THEIR CITY, OUR CITY- NOW AND FOREVERMORE BECAUSE OF HIM- A SELFLESS AND SILENT GUARDIAN! A WATCHFUL PROTECTOR! A RIGHTEOUS CRUSADER OF JUSTICE! A VIRTUOUS WARRIOR!- THE DARK KNIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HE SANG THIS SONG WITH THE SAME LEVEL OF CONVICTION THAT IS THE SOURCE OF THE DRIVE OF THE VERY INDIVIDUAL WHO SUITS UP EACH AND EVERY NIGHT AS HE GOES TO WAR FOR THE CITY HE LOVES MORE DEARLY THAN HIMSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!
we all blame R Kelly for his action , but the truth of the matter is what type of parents send their kids of to see him . its all about money the parents seen
Every young entertainer should learn this, your team could be those to bring you down. They'll be the pimps arranging all the hookups in the name of fun. Be careful of those in your team. They'll supply you the coke, the girls, the boys and take your money. They'll leave you fried.
Batman and Robin may not have been the best of all time but it had its moments ......certainly the Batman franchise of the 90s had great soundtracks you had prince, seal, jewel,r Kelly and many more
He was in no way the king of R/B. Maybe, he was in his own mind, but, any person who grew up around R/B music and knows anything about it. Marvin Gaye was the king, followed by, Smokey Robbinson, Barry White.
I remember when I was 9 years old, singing this song in the car on my way to school. 20 years later, I still got shivers. Robert is definitely the King of Rnb
Yes.It was one of those songs.I was in my twenties, 230lb playing football and lift weights back when this came out.I would sing this with my toddler daughter watching her clap and sing through my rearview mirror and would tear up seeing her joy when this song came on.🤧🥺
This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard in my life. I pray I will live to see a day when music like this returns to the world. God knows we need it in 2024. Thank you R.Kelly!
And I gotta say, the 90s was the hottest decade for incredible cinematic soundtracks. Even if a film sucked you could always count on a timeless soundtrack
Throw R.Kelly in jail for all I care but you have to be insane if you expect me to mute this kind of song! You have to be sicker than R.kelly to want this song muted. Many of your favorite artist are way sicker than you think.
So true! I say fuck both side too many people got paid off of that documentary anyways so who am I to judge! I wasn’t in the gym shootin with their ass lol
THAT IT IS AND HERE IS WHY-HE SANG THIS SONG WITH THE SAME LEVEL OF CONVICTION THAT IS THE SOURCE OF THE DRIVE OF THE VERY INDIVIDUAL WHO SUITS UP EACH AND EVERY NIGHT AS HE GOES TO WAR FOR THE CITY HE LOVES MORE DEARLY THAN HIMSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND U CAN HEAR IT AS U LISTEN TO THE CHORUS- HOW JUST WITHIN THE CHORUS ITSELF, HOW THE ENTIRE SONG CAN BE FOUND, AND SUMMED UP, AND CAPTIVATED BY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He has always showed love to the state which he is from the choir that is singing is the Chicago Mass Choir...they visit my church O yess they can sing without music n they sang in his song the world Greatest...
Outside of "Gotham City" being in the chorus which kinda takes away from the song, this song has a very strong Sting aura to it. The lyrics are deep and powerful.
Lyrics I'm looking over the skyline of the city How loud quiet nights in the mist of crime How next door to happiness lives sorrow And signals of solution in the sky A city of justice, a city of love, a city of peace For everyone of us We all need it, can't live without it A Gotham City, oh yeah How sleeping awake because of fear (Oh yeah) How children are drowning in their tears How we need a place where we can go A land where every one will have a hero (Even me) A city of justice, a city of love, a city of peace For everyone of us 'Cause we all need it, yeah, can't live without it A Gotham City, oh yeah A city of justice, a city of love, a city of peace For everyone of us 'Cause we all need it, can't live without it A Gotham City, oh yeah Yet in the middle of stormy weather We won't stumble and we won't fall I know a place that all this shelter City of justice, city of love, city of peace For everyone of us We all need it, can't live without it Gotham City, oh yeah We need a city of justice, city of love, city of peace For everyone of us We all need it, can't live without it Gotham City, oh yeah City of justice, city of love, city of peace For everyone of us Yes, we all need it, can't live without it Gotham City, oh yeah A Gotham City (Everybody needs Gotham City) Gotham City (Don't you want one, oh yeah) Come on, come on, Gotham City (Everybody needs Gotham City) A Gotham City (Don't you want one, oh yeah) Children sing A Gotham City A Gotham City A Gotham City
For me this song will always be interconnected with the birth of internet. It was one of the first songs we downloaded on mp3 when we got internet in late 90´s. Then it was played on winamp several years before youtube.
When I hear this song. I get that same feeling I got as a kid sitting in that theater Completely amazed by the old school Batman films.. I mean, let's be honest I didn't give a fuck about "batnipples" All I saw was Batman doing what he does best. Simpler times.
I'm conflicted, on one hand, I do miss being a kid and not being all cynical and critical of everything. On the other hand, screw that movie and screw joel schumacker.
hazeddon I don't know why he felt that it would be okay to reboot the 60s Adam West batman after a darker more grittier Batman was established from the Iconic Tim Burton films.
JustinSane8504 I have no problems with bringing back campy batman, "batman: the brave and the bold." was hella campy but it was done right. Batman and Robin was just all around bad.
It's one thing to say you are willing to separate what he did from his music and that you still enjoy his music, but to say that you don't care is absolutely ridiculous. The day you're a victim of something horrible, you won't expect people to say they don't care what happened to you and then celebrate the perpetrator.
I ain't gonna be the one to cast the first stone cause I'm also a sinner, let's leave the judging to The Most High God, let's love one another. I'm proud of you Kellz, prison doors won't take away the talent that God blessed you with ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏
Yeah! you know?? It just disappeared. We had so many great movie soundtracks.. Now everybody is downloading and nobody is buying CDs anymore. Time flies and time has changed. That decade was really something great to look back on, compared to what music is like now.
Yea you right. You what's even crazier? They don't even do remixes anymore with a whole different beat like they did in the 90s. Idk what the fuck happened.
SoulOfTheSouth So true! And you get rappers SINGING now? really? back in those days. You get a rapper and an R&B or Pop Singer doing the singing. Now everybody trying to do everything. It just makes everything not unique anymore. Its the same old beat same style everybody wanna be a singer and a rapper... it's sad. lol
@@arlobailey7355i dont think anyone can really be sure of the facts in rkellys cases but him and the people accusing him . theres too many interests pecuniary and otherwise for anyone else to know what really transpired. are you aware that there are cultures that girls as young as 13 can get married ? Us laws are written by men and are therefore not beyond reproach. So someone decided 18 is the age of consent . that is a mans law not the 10 commandments . know that !
This song gets pretty freaking sad if you think of it as being sung from Batman's point of view... He's not saying that Gotham IS a city of peace, love, etc. He's saying that he's "Looking over the skyline of the city" and seeing "quiet nights in the midst of crime", "children drowning in their tears", happiness followed closely by sorrow, and other awful things, and that the people need a nicer place to live, which, again, if it's from Batman's PoV, he's trying to turn Gotham City into. Come to think of it, this actually makes it all the more emotional when he says "...(we need) a place where everyone can have a hero... _Even me..._"
+CoriSparks CorkiSparks I took a long time to process and review your comment. I came to one conclusion. I really fucking hate you. It's nothing personal. You just really tried to make sense of a nonsensical song in this horrendous movie. The only enjoyment gained from this film isn't drowning in your tears from sorrow, it's from laughter. Just like this song. I hope you have a good day. :]
+CoriSparks You're right. It's about looking over a broken world, and desperately wanting it to be a better place. And that ideal "better place" being some thing that is needed, something to reach for. Kind of what batman is fighting for. Batman and Robin didn't go over too well, but without a doubt, R. Kelly won his part of the battle with this song.
Thank you You Tube for not banning him, looked all over but cudnt find this, his actions dont mean he ddnt give use ageless music and this here is just pure gold
To think this man couldn’t even read at an adult level and he paints a visual so beautifully with his words. True talent regardless of his personal life.
I don't like R. Kelly as a person. In a perfect world, he would've gotten help. However, I won't deny that in his prime, he had a musical gift. And this song exemplifies that. This is the only sing by him I'd ever listen to today.
Im not a judge, and i dont judge...i dont have a Heaven or Hell to put him in...but i will ALWAYS listen to his music...this man is BLESSED with this voice and songwriting sjills
