r/Maliciouscompliance OP works at a hotel, and her job is to go through the hallways to collect all the dirty trays from leftover room service. OP's stupid manager decides to go on a power trip and orders OP to help him out instead of collecting trays. OP happily complies, causing dishes to pile up across the entire hotel. Eventually, high-level executives at the hotel notice that something is wrong, so they ask OP why she isn't doing her job. OP happily reports that her idiotic manager won't let her do what she's supposed to do. Say goodbye to your job, manager!

Cop story reminded me of when I almost had a police car hit me. I was going home after work (around 4am). I was on a very empty highway (2 lanes each direction, with large median between directions). My co-worker was in front of me a mile or so, and me, and coming up FAST behind me was a state patrol car (no lights or sirens). He sped up from quite a distance, got right behind my car. I was doing the exact speed limit (area known for ppl getting tickets, even if over a few miles over limit). He was so close that if I even tried to slow down a little, he would hit me. Since there were only 3 cars on highway (same direction), he could have easily passed in other lane. After a few miles, he does pass me, very quickly and SPEEDS up to my co-workers car, still a few miles ahead. I see her make a turn off highway, then watch him drive a little further and go to the State Patrol office. I am ticked. When I get home, I called the state patrol and asked if it is common practice for their officers to speed, tailgate and nearly cause traffic accidents. When she (officer on phone) says no, I inform her of car # (123) had done just that. If I had to even slow down for any reason, such as a deer or elk crossing, he would have hit me. First time I had to call the cops on the cops (though it did happen later, but that's another story).

My daughter was turning left into an apartment complex going about 5 mph. She had started from a dead stop. Next thing she knew, she saw a flicker out of her right eye and was slammed (T-boned). The entrance to the apartment happened to be at the bottom of a blind hill - the cars cresting the hill couldnt see the cars turning left. My daughter was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee and the girl ho hit her was driving an Altima. She hit my daughter so hard that the Jeep was spun a full circle plus another quarter circle while pushing it at least 20 feet leaving engine parts clearly showing the path it had travelled. The Altima however had basically come to a stand still after hitting the several ton beast of a car my daughter was driving. This shows how fast the Altima was going. Luckily my daughter was UN injured but the other driver shattered her ankle. When her car stopped spinning, my daughter ran over to the other car and with the strength of someone in shock, wrenched the door of the other car open. The girl was screaming for someone to call her mother. My daughter found her phone, one the dashboard, unlocked. Translation: she was texting (or on the phone) when she hit my daughter. That was the only way for the phone to be at a high enough level to end up on the dash and to still be unlocked. We already kno she was speeding based on the damage she damage she did to my daughter’s car. So the cops show up. The cop goes over to my daughter to ask what happened and interrupts her to tell her “It is your fault” then walks away without actually taking a statement. He cited her. Luckily, my daughter had friends who were following her (they were going to look at these apartments). One was directly behind her and witnesses the whole thing. They sent her to the hospital, just in case. Luckily, we were in town visiting (we live out of state). I got to the emergency room. My daughter was fine except for major seatbelt rash and shock. Her friends gave me statements and had photographed the scene. e showed the pictures to the doctor at her request. She turned completely white. She told my daughter she was very lucky and that the seatbelt did its job. To make sure to always wear it. So i finally got on the phone with the cop. After a few minutes of discussion he asked if i had any questions and I asked if he had taken statements from the witnesses. He said there were none. I said, “there most certainly were. You sent the person who was directly behind my daughter in the ambulance with her.” So a week later we finally get the police report. It was complete fiction. The cop made it all up since he didnt interview my daughter and the other driver was immediately sent to the hospital via helicopter because of thr possibility of trauma. The cops never took photos of the scene but my daughter’s friends did. The cop did such a bad job at making up the “facts” in the report that he even got the speed limit for the road wrong. I know because the Jeep ended up sitting right next to the speed limit sign. The number in the report as contradicted by the photographs. So in FL, when there is bodily injury you have to go to court for hat is basically a mini trial. We got my daughter a lawyer and gave him the photos and the witness statements. He showed up at court. The other party did not, nor did she have a lawyer representing her. Judge threw it out, including the citation. So my insurance company, in their infinite wisdom, decided to accept liability on my daughter’s behalf and handed over a check for $100K. I argued with the representative but she told me I didnt have any say in it. Six Months later I get a call from them screaming at me about why the claim was still outstanding. I said, that’s your fault for handing over a check without even getting a release of liability from the other party and for just handing over the check it’s out any input from us. She said well the other party had medical bills that already topped the $100K. I said, “then she shouldnt have been speeding and texting hill driving over a blind hill.” As it turns out the girl was driving another person’s car and was uninsured. She had 2 previous speeding tickets for speeding in the past year and lived on the road where the accident took place so she knew all about thr blind hill. It was also a location the cops were frequently called out to for accidents. Why the 6 months? We believe that the first thing the lawyers did was run a background check on me. It was my car and insured under my name (my daughter had only just moved and e hadnt transferred the car yet). They determined it was orthostatic suing me so they just put the money in escrow waiting for the court case to work itself out but never checked on it. It took a couple of weeks but we got our release of liability. I think that they checked on the citation and found out it was thrown out and that the insurance company informed them that even tho they had accepted liability they had later received photos and witness statements proving the other driver was at fault. If they sued they would lose and they made their money only if they won.

One time I got pulled over and the cop said he clocked me at 20 over the posted speed when he went back to his car to run my info and write me a ticket I brought up the video that I had already sent to the cloud so it would be saved had it ready to view he came back to my window with a ticket in hand I told him to watch the video showing i was not over the limit and I don't know how or where he got that I was speeding from and that if I had to go into court to fight it I would take it to the top. To save himself a lot of crap he wrote void over the ticket and told me to keep my speed down and walked back to his car with his head in shame. I still get dirty looks from all the cops in my area. That one time the camera saved me almost 2 times the cost of the camera since I didn't have to pay for that BS ticket. So yes lash is right about getting a camera in your car saved me lots.

5 to t0% of people are sociopaths. People who want to make the world a better place, and bullies become cops. When a cop becomes aware of a problem with another cop, he/she must report it to the supervisor. If your supervisor ignores the report, there is no recourse. If you go outside "chain of command" you get fired. If other cops learn of your "betrayal", you get hunted, and absolutely never supported if you need help in the normal course of duty. re: supervisors: When you separate action from responsibility, you find normal people behaving as if they were sociopaths.

That's honestly the best way of putting it imo. Like, there's a possibility that a cop can be a terrible person, and everyone should be extremely wary of that, but it doesn't demonize everyone who happens to be a cop. Cops have a higher chance of being scummy than most. In the US, ticket revenue is divided between departments in the government, including the police department. They're essentially getting a departmental commission on tickets. If there's extra money in the police budget (there always is), they use it on things like espresso machines, slushy machines, new vehicles, even tanks - things that benefit the officers, or that the officers want for the department. They have incentive to write as many tickets as possible, for real or imagined infractions, so they have incentive to demonize as many people as possible.

The cop stories, not an accident, but my only ever speeding ticket I was able to get out of cause the cop lied. We have a town near us where the cops in that town have a "reputation" for being dickheads. They once made a girl I worked with cry while interviewing her after a single car accident then accused her of "being hormonal". That type of shit. Anyways, I get pulled over going about 6 or 7 over on a surface street. He has an attitude the second he starts talking to me and accuses me of doing almost 15 over. I'm confused cause I used to work on this road and I know I wasn't going that far over. He won't listen though, and basically dares me to challenge it in court. So I do. Looking at the ticket, he's written the posted speed limit as 5mph lower than the actual posted speed limit. I challenge the ticket. I even go down the road with my dad getting video and picture evidence of where I got pulled over and the posted speed limits in that direction. Show up to the court date and the judge lowers the speed over and changes it to a warning and throws out the ticket.

I had a ticket get thrown out because the doofus didn't know where we were & it was very obvious to the attorney who looked at it that he was full of it. It was around 2am, I was driving back from a friend's house & was exhausted. I kept catching myself going under the speed limit. At one particular stoplight, at the bottom of a steep hill & exceptionally curvy road, there's a gas station that the local cops will sometimes just chill at. As I went through the intersection, one of them started following me. Eventually, he pulled me over - I know why he did. He thought I was drunk & trying to not get noticed by going slower, but nah. I was just really tired. It was literally the first question he asked me. When it became very obvious that I hadn't been drinking, he came up with a story that I had been going 60MPH up to the stoplight by the gas station. Something that is physically impossible to do without wrecking your shit &/or blowing the light because of the extremely sharp curves in the road before it becomes an exceptionally steep hill. Like...physics won't let you do that... I know he's full of it, but I'm exhausted & just want to get home, so I don’t try to argue with him about it. When he brings me the ticket, dipshit apparently doesn't know where he is & puts us down as being in Garner rather than Willow Springs. Garner is like 15-20 minutes away from where we are. I go home, relay to my Mum the details, while she writes everything down. When I go to court a couple of days later the attorney who looks over the traffic tickets & decides whether the judge needs to hear them or not _lives maybe 5 minutes away from where he pulled me over_ , so she knows the area just as well as I do & knows just as well as I do that this ticket is bogus & just balls it up while laughing & tosses it in the trash.

The speed limit is 65 and I’m going 70 on cruise control. I was actually listening to RSlash, driving next to a cop and just about to move over to get to my exit onto another highway, when suddenly the cop hits his breaks, turns on his lights and blares his sirens. I was super confused and realized that he was pulling ME over! We pull over and he’s literally screaming at me how I’m going 85-90 on the highway! I said to him “what?! We were driving next to each other so I was going the same speed as you!” He argues with me and tells me that he could arrest me for reckless driving. That’s when I keep my mouth shut, and just wait for him to bring me the ticket. I hired The Ticket Clinic and had his stupid ticket dismissed two days ago. Fuck Florida cops.

I wanted to take statements from the witness (mother working for insurance, I was well trained), but the cops saied they would be doing it for me since I was too young. They also saied they were going to write the report and deal with the insurances. They did none, and when my mum came to ask why, they saied it was perfectly legal. Why didn't they do anything ? I was at the head of a train of band parents leading a caravan of the entirety of my old high school band to a performance because their buses didn’t show up. I had three students in my own car, along with my own instruments. A cop cut me off when we were almost there and she pulled me over. She accused me of flipping her off (I wasn’t) and that I was speeding (she was going like… 30 in a 45 or something on a single-lane road, and she’d cut me off when the lane split to two and I tried to go past her). She ended up writing me a ticket; not for speeding or reckless driving, not even for ‘giving her the finger’, but for ‘having an unsecured baby seat’? I didn’t have a baby-seat in my car; I was 19 and no one in our family has.. been a baby for about 15 years. My best guess is that she saw my euphonium case stuffed between two of the kids in the backseat and thought it was a booster seat and decided to charge me for that. The band director offered to pay for my ticket; even one of the band parents - who was a cop - said I should fight the ticket. But because my family was poor and/or ‘didn’t want to rock the boat’ my dad just told me to pay the ticket and not fight it. So now I’m sure I have a bullshit ticket on my record just because some cop was having a bad day.

My father, back in the 70s during the height of his hippie phase, was in a van with some friends smoking marijuana when they were pulled over. The cops were dirty, and decided to steal the pot off of them for their own use. This rattled them so much that, when asked if he could be impartial in a trial for jury duty, my dad recounted this story and that he wouldn’t because the defendant was a police officer. The judge got a kick out of it, at least, and dismissed him. Another time, my father was arrested for being high (same decade, I think), but the cops didn’t have any concrete proof. My dad just sat at the table in Lala Land (yes, he was high), serenely smiling behind his bushy beard and not saying or doing anything. Then he started doing yoga. By the time he was in downward dog, the cops decided to release him. Even if they could prove that he was high, they couldn’t prove he was dangerous.

There are good cops out there, but those types of cops being buried by the cops who are bastards cause of dumb reasons like the last story. Those types of cops will give such dumb reasons to either arrest someone, give someone a ticket, or some other reason. And the last story, it wasn't the girl's fault, she was trying to be a responsible adult and get her car brakes looked at when she crashed. Obviously with the ground being slick and having a more difficult time breaking, the risk of crashing is much higher.

Sadly, the argument could be made that she should have had it towed. I work on cars, and I've seen cars that are still road worthy, but have an issue (say, a coolant leak, or the radiator isn't working right), and the owner elected to have it towed. If the car made it to my shop with the issue, it could make it home with the issue. People end up sitting in the lobby waiting for tow trucks that take around 3 hours. Then there's risk vs reward. She took the risk because it was more affordable, until everything had gone wrong.

Not really malicious compliance, but I got reminded of a time my friend and her mom were driving home and another car, driving wildly, slammed into them. The people in this car then proceeded to yell at my friends mom and blame her for the crash. It was pure luck that it had happened near a security camera, that clearly showed who was in the wrong.

The car accident story reminded me of when my mom got hit by a young girl who thought she had enough time to turn but ended up ramming into my mom. My mom (being weirdly tough) only suffered some soreness and had bitten her tongue a little hard, but nothing that needed true medical treatment. Everyone kept telling my mom to sue the girl, to take her to the cleaners, to get her license revoked, to basically punish her. My mom remembers how young the girl was, how hard she'd been crying, and how she'd been apologizing and apologizing. She had no interest in ruining the girl's life over an accident that she didn't get seriously hurt and where Insurance took care of the car. I've always admired my mom's maturity to not let her emotions overrun good sense and good will towards others, it's just not worth it.

My husband’s favourite dessert was rice pudding, as a young bride I started to make it but was told it was nice but not as good as his Mother’s. I kept making it from the recipe I had but he said it was too sweet so I tweaked the recipe and decreased the sugar but every time it was not as good as his mother’s so I ask her how she made it. The recipe she gave had four times as much sugar as I used and sweetened condensed milk. Ended up with a horribly sweet rice that my husband told me was the most disgusting one that he had ever tasted. When I explained where I got the recipe and he told me that I had got it wrong there was no way his mother ever made something that horrible. I did wonder whether MIL have given me the wrong recipe on purpose she never liked me much. One day we arrive at the in-laws just as MIL finished cooking a batch of her famous rice pudding, she dished up a bowl for husband who ate it in silence. After he finished she brought the pot over to give him a second helping but he declined telling her he was full, she was shocked as he always had second and third helpings. When we got into the car and husband leaned over to tell me that my rice pudding was better than his mother’s. I never made again and tossed my recipe out, He has tried to make it himself but can’t get it right.

My friend was walking across an intersection when a police officer made an illegal left turn and hit him. The office drove him to the hospital and they found out his elbow was shattered and he had to get a metal plate put into it. When he found out that the officer and reported it as a minor incident with no need for followup he contacted a lawyer to see if he could sue. Shortly after that the officer called him pretending to be concerned. He asked my friend if he was "alright" to which my friend responded yes. Shortly afterward my friend is told by his lawyer that their case was thrown out because the incident was too minor. Apparently the officer played a recording of my friend saying he was "alright" and therefore was faking any severe injury for money. The lawyer advised my friend never to be in unsupervised contact with someone you are suing because that will always look bad when it goes to trial, or just might make the trial invalid. My friend had to pay the deductible for the hospital bill while the officer than ran him over and the city that employed him did not pay a dime.

Ahahahahaha, "Premium Moron". Also, when it comes to cops, I've dealt with a similar situation. There was a snowstorm and I slid off the road. About an hour after I had been digging my pickup out, a HiPo shows up and writes me a ticket for driving to fast for conditions. There were no witnesses who stuck around and that cop definitely wasn't anywhere nearby either.

"When I asked if I could get the other witness's info, they told me it was against the law for them to share it." Time to get an attorney involved to make them give you _your_ witness's info. (Even better, poster should have asked the witness for his info, and witness should have given her at least his number.)

The car crash story. Here in Australia, unless you can prove that a car suddenly pulled in front of you and dramatically reduced your safe braking distance, you'll get neg driving charge, a fine and lose 3 points off your license and driving an un-roadworthy wouldn't help you either. As for possible jail time? Unless you drove over half a dozen babies, it wouldn't even go to court

About the stories with the cops recklessly driving. I have a story about that too. So what had happened is the my cousin was crossing a road. He had the light for the crosswalk and started to cross on his skateboard. Passed one car that stopped and got hit by the officer in the police car who just wanted to drive pass the red light I guess. (Edit I realized I forgot to say that the cop didn't have his lights or was responding to anything). He told us that he flew up and over the car and had his leg broken. It was really sad because the cop didn't care I can't remember what my cousin said he said, but I remember he said that the cop didn't care. It really sucked because he was transport via ambulance 42 minutes away to the hospital. Because he had to go to a children's hospital or something like that. But I remember him saying that it hurt so bad because he could feel everything like the bumps and stuff. He also said that the doctor said thankfully he was on a skateboard and had a backpack because if not it would have been a lot worse. Sorry, for the long story I hope it's understandable also sorry if my grammar sucks.

I had malicious compliance when I worked at Dominos, the owners son who used to be the store manager was a great manager. When he moved up to a higher position, another manager got promoted and always went on weird power trips. Basically one day when we had downtime, she started getting on me for folding boxes and was like “Folding boxes is a waste of time, find something more productive to do. I knew damn well we would run out, but I was like “Ok, I’ll find something else to do.” Then later in the night we ran out of boxes during the rush and the manager was like “Why the hell do we have no boxes?” I said, we’ll you DID tell us to stop folding boxes… so we found “more productive” things to do. She got pissy but was just like “Go told some damn boxes!” And stormed off. 😂

That story about OP’s grandparents reminded me of an arrangement my parents have: my dad likes his socks folded a certain way. Early on in their marriage, when my mom used to fold them for him, he would complain that she did it wrong. Eventually, she told him that if he didn’t like how she folded them, he could do it himself. His socks now sit in a small basket, usually unfolded 😂

The last story reminded me of when I was younger and my family and I got into a car accident. By being T-boned at a intersection by an old couple… the cop blamed my mom, even though we had a green light, and weren’t even the first car to go, we were like the fifth car. The old couple ran their red light. Our car was totalled and I had to get ambulanced to the nearest hospital. Plot twist- the cop on scene knew the old couple

I'm definitely on record in 3 separate 911 calls asking that they don't send cops with their guns, that they send someone with mental health training, because "I don't wanna cause violence" (because my neighbors are Black and loud and our cops here are 50% thin blue line jackasses)... Of the 3 calls, cops showed up on time once with paramedics who calmed the scene, 2 hours late the second time after the aggressors left, and not at all the first time... So when I had ACTUAL reason to call at midnight, I didn't... that's how quickly trust fades with people. I don't think those people will EVER trusted the police again, seeing them lie to their faces.
