It will be interesting to see where you are going with this as I would have simply glued memory foam to the seat pan and shaped the foam as you shaped the clay to achieve a ready to upholster seat. Personally, I would have included a pocketed crotch portion with a raised rear portion to cushion the tail bone rather than a completely flat seat, but that is all based upon preference I guess. You do have a nice clay mold to do something with though, that is for sure.
By heck that looked like the hard way round, I did the same but with a stiff foam that could be sanded.much easier than with clay .and you end up with the same outcome.
Yeah I keep wondering why he did this in clay too. Maybe he's making a mold for something ("spray" foam?), and clay works better for that? Otherwise people usually do this with the intended material straight away.
"Prototype" "One Off" Since he had already build a whole batch of Seat underrail (whatever you call them) , a Jig for the Carbon Seat Tray he need to build the Foampart in a series too.
"In this episode I build a prototype of the seat from automotive clay, this prototype is needed to make a master mold that will later be used to make the foam for the production seat."

Its just paint to prevent the part from rusting pretty sure the guy who once sprayed it - knows how to do it again.. We Germans have a Phrase "Wo gehobelt wird, fallen Späne" Must be something like "Where wood is chopped, splinters must fall"
