I’m sorry, but the cutting shears one is truly beautiful. As a seamstress, who comes from a long line of seamstresses, THIS IS BEAUTIFUL. The idea of using cutting shears on paper sends a shiver up my spine, until I remember it’s vengeful, then it’s magnificent.

I once had a similar encounter to the person in the hair story. This one girl had a real habit of just whacking me with her hair and just sprawling it all over my desk. When I asked her to stop she just told me to f off and to just let her do her thing. So I hatched a plan. Our class had a movie day the next day, and we were allowed to bring any snack we wanted. Knowing full well what was going to happen, I brought in, not a small cup, not a small bowl, a tub, of Nutella. And so halfway through the movie, right on schedule, she whacks me with her hair and sprawls her hair all over my desk. The look on her face was priceless as i got to tell her she just dipped her hair in my nutella. And the best part was she got in trouble for ruining my snack and had to go and get me a new one.

There was a girl like that in one of my classes. I got sick of it, so when she plopped her hair down, I carefully put my binder on it and leaned on it while I took notes in my spiral. Imagine her shock and pain when she tried to get up and sharpen her pencil. The teacher just asked her what did she expect, I had to use my space to take notes for the upcoming exam and she was intruding on it. She did this in other classes, as well, so it got brought to the attention of her parents. Next day, she showed up with red eyes and a short haircut. Revenge is sweet.

Big whoop. When I was a college student in the stone ages, students would always hang out on the steps near the bookstore with their used books propped up on display and sell them at a discount to students starting their own general ed classes. If you were smart and had were taking things like Psych 101 or basic biology, you'd get there early and snag a number of otherwise pricey books. This would generally work best in your first years when basic tomes didn't change each quarter or semester.

Because college pricing is ridiculously inflated. Nothing about it needs to be that high.
@sleze
@sleze 3 года назад
It's because of volume. You can sell a best seller for $10 because they sell millions of books. For a college book, the cost to create the content is very high relative to the number of sales. If a book takes 3-5 years to write, that is a lot of time and effort (which equates to cost). If only 3000 books are sold, it requires a much higher price point to break even than the latest Harry Potter book. That being said, they are still very overpriced.

On the last one, a similar thing happened to my sister. While both me and my sister are used constantly to do all the work in group projects, my sister once got in a group of guys that REFUSED to do any work. She did all the work, and the only thing the guys did was print out what she said they needed and tape it onto a trifold. Now, thing is, the teacher of that class, knew when something was wrong. He was very tall (6,5), had a deep voice, and while he almost never yelled, spoke so loudly it was basically yelling. Yet, he was very funny, and caring, and listened to when students told him personal issues. I loved having him as a teacher. Anyway, so the group sets up the presentation, and the teacher goes around, listening to others present, grading them, and giving them pointers. He then came over to my sister's group. Since the guy's refused to do anything, they even refused to speak. My sister did the entire presentation, while the guys would stare at the board and read what was off of it. After the presentation ended, the teacher asked some questions, to which my sister answered. After the 2nd question, my sister started to respond, but the teacher said 'No no, you've done enough talking. I want to hear from the rest of your group.' Now, imagine this massive 50 something year old with a very deep, loud voice, frowning at these three guys while asking questions, getting madder and frowning more every time they didn't answer or dodged the question. After staying at the group, staring at the three guys for longer than he stayed at the other groups, he thanked only my sister for the presentation, then continued. Safe to say he gave the guys no so good grades, while he gave my sister a great grade, and apologized to her for putting her in that group.

My sister had a similar story to that Airhead one. She was put in a group project of 4 which included herself, a friend of hers that she knew would do work, and 2 others that were really slack. The slackers would never cooperate online, which majority of the project was done on. They could not split up because the group project required 4 people. No more, no less. When my sister and her friend went to complain to the teacher, the teacher said, "Continue as you are. I'll make sure you're marked fairly." Nobody knew, until a week before due date, the friend realised that the teacher could actually see who was doing work and who wasn't. The platforms that the group project was done on allowed the teacher to inspect who had done work, and even when someone overrided someone else's work (which one of the slackers did). The teacher could even check in the group chat. When the friend told my sister about this, they instantly stopped trying to fight against the slacker who was plagiarising their work, and just remained on doing their parts rather than helping do other tasks unless they needed them. A week after the project was handed in, both my sister and her friend passed on really good grades, and the 2 slackers failed.

When it came to buying textbooks, I so quickly went from using the University Bookstore to Amazon, and then not even buying the book unless absolutely necessary! What set me over the edge was that the bookstore had a few options for purchasing books. You could 1.) "buy new," 2.) "rent new," 3.) "buy used," 4.) "rent used". The "rent used" was the cheapest option, BUT if they didn't have a used book to rent, they upgraded you to the "buy new" option! When that happened, I tried protesting that I'd instead just "rent new," but they said they'd have to take my books back and it might be a week to process the new order.... yeah, that was the last time I ever bought something from that book store!

It depends on the mountain, but being stranded up there without food or water or a phone for emergencies could actually be a death sentence, especially for someone who is not prepared for the hike. It was good that OP left him with his phone, because he may have needed it to call 911 if he needed rescuing. Anyhow, this is closer to r/prorevenge, not r/pettyrevenge.

The holding overtime story reminds me of something I read forever ago about this kid who was made fun of by the other neighborhood kids for being slow and stupid. One of the ways they'd make fun of him was offer him a nickle or a dime, then laugh at him for taking the nickle because it was bigger even though it was worth less than the dime. The neighbor who watched all this asked him why, explaining that the dimes were worth more and the others were making fun of him over it. Well the kid smiled and said that if he picked the dime they'd stop giving him free money and that he already made a few dollars off of them via all the nickels.

if a person on a phone call in public starts bothering you in public, start commenting on their phone call. to them. they're in public so there is no expectation of privacy. have fun with it. if they say "it's a private conversation" say "no it isn't. you're in public"

Some of the book publishers have found a way around even that. For instance my teacher at the beginning of class told everyone they had to remove the plastic seal for the book in front of him. He published or had some kind of standing with the book his name was on it. We never use that book even once that year.

the AUDACITY college bookstores have. a professor didn't send out a booklist for her class until the week of and so i went in, thinking this $240 book would be taken out of my financial aid like it had the entire week before. NOPE! I had to pay for it DIRECTLY and at the end of the year when i went to return it, they offered me a stupid penny.

I get how terrible cheating is but the first OP's giving me pretty bad vibes. Implying being protective over your phone is a red flag, demanding to see his phone, talking about how his weight only wasn't an issue cus he was easy on the eyes, flatout calling herself manipulative?? The guy is bad but she seems to have some bad vibes herself.

Love the college bookstore story. When i was at university my teacher got tired of having to get students to buy expensive text books. So he wrote his own based on the decades of experience he has in the field. Great book, very helpful. Best part, it was like £10. There a bunch more video and film production books these days, since youtube blew up. But at the time this book was a godsend..

I hated working in groups because we'd always get an airhead that wanted the rest of us to do the work. This passed into my career. We had two months training and one guy treated it like a paid vacation! We were lumped into groups each group randomly selected a company item and we were to create not only a commercial, but a scenario where we sold said item. Our airhead literally twirled his pen and stared at the ceiling the whole time. During our commercial, he was COMPLETELY lost in the script, whole the rest of us were en pointe. Same with our scenario/role play. Our trainer wasn't impressed. Airhead lasted less than two weeks after training and was fired.

Why wouldn't the bookstores be like "Hmm, it's $250 on our shelf, let's pay like 10, 20 for it." but nope, a freaking penny. Imagine buying them back for $10 and then selling them for $250 again, x25 profit. Then again, penny would mean a x25000 time profit so eh.

In our universities we don't buy our own books. The university has a budget for new editions of books and sell the old ones at a bargain. Can't recommend buying outdated ones if you're reliant on the book, but not everyone is. The new editions are handed out to students for free, but you're fined for any damage to the book upon return. Pressure marks from pencil, rips or similar.

Had a 2-semester class which used the same book for both semesters. VA paid for my books. Got a new copy of the book for the 2nd semester and gave it to a classmate who'd been working off others' books the entire 1st semester. That made both of us very happy. To hell with those thieves who run the college bookstores. I believe that classmate passed with a B. No idea what happened to the book after that, and don't much care.

She was being used big time for a place to live and I hope she sees this in hindsight! Cheater: "I have a great relationship but I want my EX too!!!" *In whiny brat voice* Op: "Well now you can just have your EX!" Cheater: "I CAN CHANGE!!!" Op: "No, no you can't... "
