If you think it’s ok to “pay” artists in the currency of “exposure” and “experience”, you’re trash. If THEY are the ones who WILLINGLY OFFER to fulfill commissions for free/discount/exposure, etc. then it’s fine. But YOU do not speak on their behalf or decide whether or not they’re worth being paid.

I'm truly expanded my rslash watchlist during quarantine and went from watching only entitled parents and kids episodes to watching pro revenge and malicious compliance with my normal viewing choices

I was working in retail when I was around 16 years old, and one year my store was high up in the rankings, that we got presents for Christmas. They sent enough that everyone who was registered to the specific store would get one, so I was not afraid to have my "week" off. I only worked in the weekends, so that meant there was a 5 day window for things to go down. When I came back to work after my usual 5 days off, I noticed that there was no present for me. I asked my boss why that was so, and he basically replied with "Well, I decided to give it to my wife, since you will never use it." I was obviously upset, since I was told by one of my colleagues that the gift was a nice coffee thermos. I told him to give it to me, since MY coffee thermos broke a few weeks ago, and he was super surprised that a 16 year old would drink coffee. Needless to say, his wife didn't want to part with it, so I never got my present from the company. That the boss was replaced around two months later probably had something to do with it.

I always find it amusing when they decide to screw someone and then think that they are still in a position to request help.

I not only live in Missouri, I live in the county in which the public defender's office wrote the letter. Unfortunately, the judges in our area refused to acknowledge the letter, and reemed Michael Barrett a new one, essentially telling him he was utilizing his office in order to manipulate the wheels of justice. They decided that the public defender's office cannot refuse to take on new cases and ordered them to keep taking the cases they were sent. It did no real good. Their funding will likely be cut again if it hasn't already, and their case load per attorney has only increased since this took place.

Back in my corporate working days, I sent out an email one time with the term "no joy" in it. I got written up by my supervisor for putting my personal feelings into a professional email. So I pointed out to her that it was military jargon and she said the write up would still stand because I was in a professional environment and not the military. LOL

I built a website for a company's PR/marketing lead. A few days after it went live i got a shouty phone call from the CEO (her boss) saying my client didn't have the authority and he wasn't going to pay my invoice. So I deleted the website. Then I got an even shoutier phone call in which he said I had no right to remove *his* website. I said it wasn't *his* website until he'd paid for it and asked why he minded me deleting it if it was so useless? He paid up.
