Did my first Dragon this year. Three hour ride up on Saturday and got on site and pitched up before the light started to go. Conwy Castle looks awesome and worth a trip in itself I reckon. Only trouble I had was losing all phone signal in Conwy so couldn't retrieve my e-ticket which meant manually searching the lists. Also had no navigation for the last section which lost me time. The barn venue was great although the bar options were too limited and prices were a bit excessive. Certainly a little bit different but I've been doing the Ogri Kick Start rally for years, which is last weekend of January, so winter rallies aren't new for me. Recommend you give that one a try, it is certainly one of my favourites. I do wonder if the Dragon organisers actually go out of their way to find soggy fields to camp in as that seems to be the recurring theme! lol
Haven't been to a Dragon Rally for many years but I did attend the first at Bryn Bas castle on my 1932 Scott TT replica in all the icy conditions. I managed to stay upright until I was just a few miles from home on the way back home to Eastwood nr Nottingham. I remember camping and sleeping in all my motorcycle gear :) I attended about a dozen in all.
A 63 year old biker here, ive ticked all my biking boxes, like riding the continent, all over UK n Ireland,45 Isle of Man visits, always fancied the Dragon, but its 375 miles away from here in East Scotland ,its a thought in Feb, great video.thanks
It’s 300 miles for me, so that’s why I go up on Friday - I bet you could make it easier on yourself by doing it in smaller chunks and enjoying the event camping then stay in a few nice places on the way home 😌
Good luck. What a wise brother you have. Feigning sickness and your Dad too, needing to escort him home. Wales in February... There are clubs in London where one can be flogged to the point of unconsciousness for the purposes of sexual gratification. Presumably the people who frequent them enjoy it in some way. Presumably also, Wales in February induces a similar feeling of bleak gratification. The tea cakes by the fire are quite wonderful btw. 😂
went to quite a few Dragons , the first 1965 ,as years went on with my son .the coldest was minus 11 degrees c. never again .i am now 75 next month ,enjoy a great biking life .
New Sub. Liked the video. Noticed you were at the Diner near Leominster, not too far away from us. Enjoyed your video. I’ve not done the dragon rally for years.
@@R1_Liz yeah it’s a good place to stop. Don’t know if you know about Dom’s Diner that is a few hundred yards away? That’s good too with a great outside eating area in a small camp ground. More rustic with your bacon sandwiches and mugs of tea. Nice when it’s a bit warmer.
Have you ever done the ACU National Rally? I think you could enjoy that. I have done Gold level three times - a great experience and good navigational practice. Not sure if it still runs through the night anymore though, which would be a shame as that was half the fun of it. Look it up.
Hi. Kinda new on the channel. You look like a short person. My self is 175 cm. Im short legged. And i realised that most bikes over 500cc im tip toing, when having the hands on the throttle standing still. That does that i øm about to skip alle the race bikes, nakeds, touring, adv, and so on to buy a cruiser. Id realy like to see you get on Pinky, stand straight, lean over to take the control, while videoed from the side, to see how your feets is reaching on that Bike.
I’m a 30inch inside leg too, and the same height as you. I ride a tiger 900 (2016) and I can ball of my feet both sides or nearly flat foot if I lean it slightly nice had a gsx650f and a cbf1000 which were also more flat footed, and a cbr600 which I could flat foot one and ball the other. You just have to go and try them, sit on and see how they feel from an ergonomic standpoint
