I haven’t used Svarty for a while so I took him to Somerset and ventured down the shortest bit of not-tarmac I could find to give myself a confidence boost. Nothing else to see here but I’m very happy that he still works despite being abandoned for most of the year…

First steps ever were farmers’ fields in Norfolk on a friend’s dad’s Honda 50 when I was a teen. It was a highlight of my life! Rode a bit of mountain track in Southern France on my 1973 Honda CL125 one day til I got a short and smoke was billowing out from under the seat! Home was all downhill so I rode back in neutral. Then got a Svartpilen a few months ago and did a country track a bit like yours but more undulating here in Dorset and loved it. I want to do more but haven’t looked for them…I guess they’re on maps somewhere.

I did a Triumph Adventure Experience on a Tiger. Loved every minute so much so I did their courses and bought Tiger hope to see you at the ABR.

Fun! Try a gravel class. I just did, with a Norwegian Dakar guy. It was the most fun I’ve had on my bike. I was riding a BMW R nineT Urban GS, so Svarty will do fine. Then I did some TET in Norway and Sweden. It’s so nice out there in the forests and up in the mountains.

did quite a lot of green lining when I was younger. really enjoyed it. probably not a good idea now I'm older, its quite hard work.

Hello Liz. I've done a fair bit of off roading and like being in quiet places in the countryside, its also fun. What I would say is get some beginer training and that will set you up and improve confidence. Off The Kerb in Dorking are good guys. Much better than learning the hard way😫 Enjoying all your diverse content👍 Cheers

I don't know if I'd fancy dirt tracking on a nice bike like Swarty. I use a battered 1959 Greeves 250.

I chopped in my Triumph Speed Master for a Triumph scrambler 400x after seeing many moto Camping vids and green laning I'd like to try. The Speed Master is very nice but not practical for my needs. I don't wish to do crazy stuff, hence the 400x.

Small amounts of off roading are ok but I've seen a few videos of people going for miles in country side here and Australia and there's not a lot for the viewer from my point of view to take in. Especially if the rider is struggling and out of their depth. Your ride today took you thru a village I've never heard of so I looked it up. It was Huish Episcopi!

I’m going to the ABR and I’m taking my CRF250 Rally, I’ve barely done more than a couple of miles off road on it in preparation. Can we ride round together please for moral support 😆

Hi Liz. First time on one was many moons ago on a yam dt175, then borrowed a mates Ossa 250 which was a dedicated off reader and made the dt feel like a gold wing. Then nothing until abrf 21 and fell off my caponord 1200 very hard on the easy route, practice needed so abrf 22 I signed up for the triumph experience and fell off a Tiger 1200 and knackered my leg, obviously not going well so far. Abrf 23 I took my Tiger 800 around the beginners loop and parked it up, no crashes, no damage... result. I've now bought a Yam Serow 225 and will take it to next year's abrf 25. Cancer treatment means both Prescott Festival and Abrf 24 have been shelved. Got something to recover for 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Not sure you need to be good at off roading to be a good all round motorcyclist and with your dodgy ankle I would be extra careful. Go with a friend in case something goes wrong or you end up stuck in a ditch but better still go on some courses and get proper instruction if you really must do this. But, please don’t 😊. I’d much rather you took us with you on some track days.
