R2-D2 and C-3P0...their iconic friendship was one of the big reasons why I fell in love with Star Wars when I watched the original trilogy movies with my dad when I was a small boy...it is also one of the most enduring parts of the Star Wars mythos...often imitated (with newer droids in newer movies), never matched...there is a "lightning in a bottle" quality about the original trilogy movies that the later trilogies of movies were never able to match, and a big part of the reason for that is the genuine friendship between these two characters...Artoo and Threepio will always have a special place in my heart, like Bert and Ernie from Sesame Street...when I was a small boy, they taught me the value of friendship and how good friends stick by you, no matter what... Thank you, Artoo and Threepio, for everything, and may the Force be with you!

C3PO and R2-D2 always served as the true protagonist and survivors of the entire Star wars trilogy. Their actions what made the main heroes survive at their victories. Which of it wasn't for Darth sidious those jedis would have went to naboo and then later escape and r2 would have been the one saving the ship and 3po would have been the one to greet him in the first place.

The two of them have been through a lot.

I understand how much people hate BB-8 because he stole the spotlight from these two droids and pretty much was the main droid in the sequels leaving R2 and 3PO for only the prequals and originals BB-8 is alright to me it is just I would prefer to see these two older droids in more action in the sequels

I think you could make a case that R2-D2 might be the leading cause that has saved that galaxy. He had a had in saving Obi Wan Kenobi when he was Helping transport Princess Amidala in Episode one. With out Obi Wan he would not have been able to protect and guide Luke Skywalker. R2-D2 also carried the Death Star plans, helped Luke destroy the Death Star. Had the hidden coordinates to Luke Skywalker in Episode 7.

I'm not a star wars fan, and even tho I like Episodes, 1.. 2... 3... 4... 5... 6... 7... (skip)... 9... solo and rouge one, I do LOVE The Mandalorian, so thank you for that Disney. Can't wait for Obi Wan stand alone season. I would love to have a SOLO 2 just for Darth Maul.. but that's just me
