71dembones Thanks! Yes i've been changing a lot of oil lately due to R22 being banned here now, so been converting a lot of systems to R407F and POE oil.
Machine Man Thanks! They have been using the rippled sightglasses for a while now, it makes it easier to see the oil level as the ripples disappear when covered in oil.
good morning Mr., thanks for the video, I have a question to ask, if you are so kind to help me, I have one of these compressors mounted in an air compression system, my problem is that I do not know what kind of oil is used, since All the engines of this type that I see are used in refrigeration systems, if you would be so kind as to indicate what type of oil I can use I would be very grateful, greetings from Limpio, Paraguay.
Sorry for the late reply, been having a few issues. That style of compressor if used in a refrigeration system would use an oil call Suniso 3GS, I would think any 30 weight mineral oil would be ok but am not an expert in that application.
Big fan of your work, has helped me out while out on the field, i must ask though, where did you get your black gauge hoses? ive been looking for ages for a set like that!
Thanks Steve! The hoses are ITE, i think i got them from FSW. I can also recommend the CPS ones from Hawco, the connections are at 45' which can be helpful where access is poor.
Do the Prestcold compressors have paper seals at the point where the motor winding contacts enter the compressor? I only have seen some small DWMs and they had O-rings at the bottom plate under the pistons and at the electrical contacts.
Alexander470815 The older ones with the metal electrics box have a gasket i think, i think this one has an O-ring as you say, i will need to look into getting some spares! The smaller K body Prestcolds also have an O-ring as i remember one leaking years ago and changing it.
***** I haven't noticed any change in system performance in the 20 or so systems i have converted from R22 so far, the longest has been running over 18 months.
John would you be so kind as to tell me what the name is of that tool you use to open the sightglass on the side of the compressor I have made several but they don't last too long thank you
Also Craftsman makes a weird named socket. I don't remember the name of it. But you can buy them. They can be a bear to get out. They need to be torqued to 100 ft/lbs.
Eagle Mech Services I got it from Amazon its a Pela 2000 oil extractor, though the make some different sizes depending on what you are working on. I wanted something that was compact to keep in the truck, even if i need to empty it during an oil change. www.amazon.co.uk/Pela-Oil-Extractor-PL2000-2000/dp/B002EPIM9U
Josh D Yes, it was difficult to get in there with a brush, i have a 90' attachment for the hose which made it easier to wash them out, there was plenty of room in front of them, not sure why they put them so near the wall.
