I've always thought that even though R2-D2 can't communicate verbally, he still manages to get his points across in Binary (that's the language of Astrodroids). Even someone who has never heard of Star Wars would be able to tell that he gets scared by the flash of lighting and then he runs into the other room to “hide” from the thunder.

Hi KingZuluKing, this was actually built, a lot from scratch, and some parts bought from other R2D2 builders around the world. It took me about 2 years to get it to this point, lots of work and time, but very rewarding.

I'm in awe of your dome lighting. Are there actual LCD screens in there for those little square displays (sorry I'm lacking the actual name if they have one)? I'm determined to build an R2 next year and then tour the local children's hospitals with it after LOTS of practice "driving". :) It's gonna be interesting because I've never built anything like it before. Still waiting for account activation at you know where. I have no garage or any machine shop so... fingers crossed. :)
